Was there last year , the park was great. Lots of stuff for the kids to do. Plenty of parking, & amazing picnic area. I would like to have my family reunion at this park , as it has all the things that I would need to accomadate all the family.

Oaks Parks is great family fun at reasonable prices. There are a variety of rides for the whole family from your toddlers to teenager to adults. Some might find the rides pretty tame compared to large amusement parks, but you cannot beat the prices for a day of local fun. You will also find the staff is friendly.

PROS: Local fun at reasonable price
CONS: Bathrooms and parking can be problematic on busy days

My children love going to Oaks Amusement Park! They have many different rides (even for younger kids too!) and a roller skating rink. It can be expensive, unless you find a coupon or they are running a special. They do have specials fairly often. You can find out about them in the Portland Family Magazine. Every summer the Beaverton Library has a childrens reading program and when the child finishes they get a bag of goodies. This bag includes a discount to Oaks Amusement Park that allows you to ride all of the rides and skate for only $2! My children look forward to this every year!

Oaks Park is a historic amusement park, but it has seen better days. I have brought my daughter here several times for Chipper's Preschool mornings and she is bored after only a few minutes. The one good ride is the little train that travels along the cliffline. The other rides are not very entertaining and there isn't a big variety. They took out the Haunted House and put in a Lewis and Clark ride that is just awful. The bathrooms are filthy and cobwebby and the workers can be a little surly. Might be more fun for grownups who want to go to skate on weekends.

Oaks Amusement Park is an older park in Sellwood. The rides are dated and pretty typical - think Octopus, and swinging ship, however it is still a good family fun outing. They do have a small rollercoaster for the more adventuresome, although it is rather rough. The go-carts are fun although there is an age requirement. And these two rides do cost more.

The employees are what you would expect from ride operators and the food is too. Picture a county fair and that's pretty much what you get. This is a definite fun spot for the families, although not a cheap bet. A family of four can expect to pay a good $75 here on rides and food.

PROS: family fun
CONS:

This is not that far from where we live. It is a fun place to go on a rainy day. They have a roller skating rink so you can spend a couple hours indoor roller skating. They have all kinds of rides outside for a nice day. Amusement rides, arcade... lots of stuff to keep your kids busy for a couple hours. This place is family oriented.

I took my young niece and nephew (ages 5 and 8) to Oaks Park. They had a lot of fun. The prices were reasonable for an ammusement park. They loved the rides.

I'm a roller coaster junkie, so I was a bit disappointed with the rides. Everything is on a smaller scale and geared more to a younger, less thrill seeking crowd.

Its still worth the trip for an afternoon of fun without the long drive to the bigger parks.

We took the kids to Oaks Park for the first time the other day - they run a special program during the summer on Tuesday and Wednesday (I believe) for preschoolers - $5 unlmited rides for 2 hours and then storytime + cookies and milk.

While my kids had fun, most of the rides didn't do much for them. They loved the carousel and the little train, but heck - you can do that at Clackamas Town Center Mall! They also liked the teacup ride, which was good preparation for Disneyland, and the Frogger, but other than that didn't seem that interested. The rides do look a little worn and shabby, but at least they seemed clean.

We also went roller skating, which was the most fun of all and worth the $.

Overall, the park is worth a visit if you get a deal on the rides, bring your own food and don't have super high expectations for the quality of the rides. We enjoyed ourselves, and will go back again - but probably not for a while.

Oaks park is not as fun as I remember it being when I was a young kid. The place is a lot smaller and the rides seem more jammed together. There were a few rides that I was really looking forward to taking my kids on that are no longer even there. They have a smaller rollercoaster for young kids and during the changing of riders, the people who work there were kicking some wooden blocks underneith the track. It dosent seem like they keep the place up to par. The prices seem kinda excessive for what they offer. We went during a buy one ride bracelet get one free so the price wasnt that bad. They also had buy one get on free for stuff like hotdogs and corndogs and cotton candy ect. One good things was the carnival games they had, they wernt way over priced and they really give you alot of chances for the little ones to win prizes.Overall, Oaks Park is a fun place for the family to go and spend the day together.

PROS: good price if you go on discount days

This park seems to kind of have always been hum-drum. Sure, there are good rides, some really exciting ones, but they're rickety, the tickets are overpriced, and the place doesn't really do well except in the summer. You are kind of taking life into your own hands by consuming the food and riding the rides. But I guess we take what we can get.

PROS: Some scary cool rides, good view of fireworks on the 4th
CONS: overpriced, a litte rundown

Oaks Park has been a mainstay for Portlanders for decades and although it's a little run down, there is still plenty for kids to get excited about. If you can't wait for the county or state fair to get here in the summer, you can go to Oaks Park and have that Carnival atmosphere, right down to the cotton candy and greasy corn dogs. Rides galore and a skating rink to boot, plus a beautiful view of the river.

The prices are too spendy, but if you have nothing to do, this is a good place to go with your little ones. You can go roller skating and practice your throwing techniques at the games.

I have never been impressed with Oaks Amusement Park. All of the rides are old and seem like they are about to fall apart. The amusement park is very small which is never a good thing. All the rides offered at Oaks Amusement park are not very impressive either. However I did like the roller skating Rink. My daughter had her birthday party there one year and had a blast.

The kids will think Oaks Park is a blast. There are rides, carnival food, a train and a roller skating rink. There are rides for all ages and levels of fearlessness. The ride operators are a lot like the stereotype of "carnies" but that gives the place its atmosphere. The rink is old fashioned and some of us like that. There is a great picnic area overlooking the river. The kids will be in heaven at Oaks Park.

I take my children to the Oaks Amusement Park for my son's birthday and it was not worth my money nor does my kids really have any fun. The activities here are boring, just the same old, same old. They have bumper cars, which was fun, roller coaster, teacup ride, and mostly arcade game that require quarters to play. The games here are nothing creative or new to my kids and we end up that day playing in the arcade instead of going on the rides.

Oaks Park is so much fun and even though I haven't been there in the last couple years, I still have memories that are positive about my experience with this place. The food is good and the rides are great for the type of amusement the park is trying to offer. Bring the kids and get over to Oaks Park and give them lasting memories that they will cherish forever!

So we took my daughter who just turned 3 to Oaks Amusement Park, because she is very petite and could not ride ANY rides during the Rose Festival :( and since we are going to DISNEYLAND later in the year rides are all she talks about (she is very curious about rides) it was a good icebreaker for her to see how she reacted to the environment. Although I don't think it would peak to much intrest for most older children. We were just glad that they do not charge for parking or admission we spent less than around $7-$8 for 5 rides that was actually 10 because either my husband or I accompanied her on all of them. ( we brought our own picnic ;o) )

Dear God, never give me reason to go to Oaks Park again. A lame excuse for amusement, Oaks Park offers nothing but dirty facilities, half brain-dead employees and poor quality rides. The food is all microwavable and far, far too expensive. Its not worth the gas to get there. Never, ever again.

PROS: microwaved American cheese, if you're into that stuff
CONS: everything horrible about America?

I went to Oak Park with a few friends simply because of the fuss people been making about this place. After spending about $100 there, I did not have any fun and it's nto worth the money. When i came in, i was told to pay the ticket, which mean i can participate in all activities there. WRONG! The ticket simply pay for the rides, which is only about half of the activities in there. The other half, the arcade and games, you have to paid for tokens to play. Also, note that the ticket does not paid for bumper car, (which i consider a ride) and Nascar Racing ( another ride ) Really ripping the custumer off here. I was not sastify.

Oaks Park is pretty expensive for what it is--a rather horrid amusement park. It is the only one in the area, which is its only draw; otherwise, this would've been forced out of business ages ago. The rides are extremely tame; it will satisfy the very young and very old exclusively. It can get too crowded to deal with, especially in the summer. Traffic on weekend afternoons is terrible.

PROS:
CONS: Lame rides, expensive, crowded

The Pacific Northwest is really hurting for large-scale amusement parks, so Portlanders have to make due with Oaks Park. You can purchase one-price ride bracelets that are good for an alloted time. In addition to the park rides, there are go carts and a roller skating rink.

PROS: Great areas for picnics under big oak trees (lots of shade)
CONS: the rides are fairly tame
