A good place for those who wouldn't mind getting some sushi/roll with a thick layer of unknown sauces. Personally, I would prefer a sushi that holds the natural flavors of the ingredients.

The food quality was great and tasted wonderful! The wait staff was so nice and attentive to our needs. This was our first time to the NW location and we will definitely be coming back SOON!! For the amount of sushi we ordered the price was amazing!

Yuki's NW location is our favorite Mom and Pop sushi joint in all of Portland. We have never ad a bad meal, and the service is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable, considering the quality and location on NW 23rd. The outdoor seating is great for people watching in warmer weather. The staff remembers you, and is always on the ball. Standouts: gyoza, maguro nigiri, Tsunami Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Mai Thai Roll, udon, etc.

Pros: Superb sushi and Japanese fare; reasonable prices; Location

Cons: None

The sushi was just awful - they try to disguise the poor fish quality by loading it up with mayo. But even mayo and frying the fish cannot hide the poor fish quality. Avoid this place.

My wife and I have gone to Yuki on a weekly basis for years. The food is always great, and we love sushi. The waitress staff is also responsive and friendly. The problem is that the wait for your food is extremely unpredictable, and it has nothing to do with how many folks are in the restaurant. Numerous times we hve been one of only a few tables, but the sushi chefs will prepare to go order after to go order and make the customers wait - even if you order first. Last week we were one of five tables, and we waited 35 minutes before they even started to prepare our order. We are usually totally easy going, but that was it. We asked for our Miso soup check and left without eating. We will never go back.

We went out for sushi and found this restaurant per a friend's recommendation. I did like the ordering via dry erase and pictures; however, the service was rather slow. It seemed busy, but still we had to flag our waitress down to get drinks and place an order. The sushi was good. There wasn't a creative spark to it, but it was a fulfilling meal.

We have been to Yuki a few times, and have always been very pleased. The seafood is very fresh, well prepared, and more reasonably priced than most sushi bars. For those who are not into sushi, they have a very wide menu of other Japanese food items. Great wait staff. Highly recommended.

I have been to several sushi restaurants in Portland but always keep coming back to Yuki. The fish is outstanding, fresh, tasty and wonderfully presented with so many creative rolls to choose from. The staff is friendly and eager to please. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We have eaten at many Sushi Bars, and by far found Yukis on NW 23 to always have the best.
Their Sushi chefs are very inventive in their presentation and the service is always friendly and execellent. They make you feel like you are at home. We go here a several times per month and have never been disappointed by the staff or the food being served. The chefs have created special dishes for us on special occassions. We love the selection of dishes, the staff and their service. We highly recommend it to our friends.

I haven't been for a while.. but, I have always had very attentive and friendly service at Yuki's. I also love their food, dragon roll is one of my fav's!

in the summer it is fun to sit outside and people watch. Another bonus, after your meal you can walk across the street and get some yummy gelato!

First caught glimpse of this place 'cause it's my nieces name... we all went in (a group of 8) and took up nearly a 1/4 of their restaurant. Service is good, very polite and respectful as you'd expect in a japanese restaurant. Great miso soup and katsu. The hubby liked their sushi.

When I went there, I ordered sashimi dinner. There were about 5 kinds of sashimi, but three of them were some kind of white fishes, at kleast I had never had before. Well, the taste was not as good, except salmon. If you like casual Japanese restaurant with affordable price, this place may be good. But I would rather have something else if I pay $15 for my sushi.

To order sushi here, they use erasable overhead markers on laminated sheets with well-done photos of the items. This is great for those of us who might remember the look of an item more than the name. Some of their rolls are quite creative, making this a fun place to go for something a bit out of the ordinary.

Seating can be quite cramped, and groups over about 6 won't be sitting together. They're closed on Tuesdays which I never can seem to remember until I arrive...

My husband and I We had eaten at the restaurant since we married. This used to be a great place, but not anymore. I think they've had an ownership change.
The sushi was too tightly pressed and the rice overcooked, the gyoza lacked taste.
And our dinner arrived before we even had a chance to finish the appetizers. I still had some appetizer to eat. The waitress did not come back to the table until she brought the check.
I expected better but was dissapointed in the end. questionable service.

I have had sushi in Ann Arbor, Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angles, San Diego, Hawaii, Australia, and all over Portland but Yuki on 23rd is the highest quality I have ever had. They consistently deliver excellent service and phenomenal food. I work near by and eat at Yuki at least once a week and none of the other sushi places along 23rd are as consistently excellent as Yuki. If you are looking for a nice atmosphere or just a quiet place to read this is the location. On sunny days their patio is a great place to sit and people watch. If you are tired of a conveyor belt delivering your sushi then you need to visit Yuki.

I love their california roll, and the cherry bomb is especially innovative and good(who knew Peanut Sauce, bits of cherry and sushi rolls would go together and well!). I even tried the "Crazy Boy" a tempura fried sushi roll, never would have thought I would like it. Only not so good thing is the tempura, not my favorite place to get it.

Yuki is the tastiest sushi in portland
I love this place and have been a loyal costomer for over 2years.
The quality and quantity is excellent, especially for the price and the staff is very friendly.
The tempura salmon roll is fantastic. Excellent California roll is only $3.00
Try the bento box too(a deiclous teriyaki with shrimp tempura and salad, soup, gyoza and sushi...yum yum yum ..)
I've always enjoyed it.
If you are looking for sushi made with the freshest, Yuki is the place to go.

I've been there several times now and absoutely love their food. Owner is very nice and smiling all the times, and the sushi man knows how to make some beautiful, yet very tasteful sushi. The place is well decorated inside and you feel warm and comfortable when eating there. Sushi itself was best to none, especially the sake bomb roll!!! You would think place like this would only make good sushi, but their udon was superb also. I would recommand this place to anybody. I brought couple of my friends there before and now they don't want to eat sushi anywhere else. Try it. You won't regret it.

Pros: Great food, quality service and did I mention great food??

Cons: Nothing much about the restaurant. I would say the parking, but even that wasn't all that bad.

Yuki at 23rd ave had the best sushi ever! especially the vegas roll and the nigiris. It's very fresh and sooooooo delicious!! the service here is pretty good.. the busy nights they can be a little slow but not too bad. I recommend people to go during weekdays because you'll get better service. Honestly i've been to a lot of other sushi places like Mio, shinju, i love sushi ..etc but i don't think those places can compare to Yuki's sushi. Yuki gives out perfect size and freshest sushi ever!

Cons: nothing really.. maybe parking

Sushi was solid, but nothing special. I thought the rice bowls were overpriced (unagi bowl for $14.95?!) and the service slow. If I had a craving for sushi and this was the only place around I'd eat here but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Yuki's again.
