Dark velvet booths, 1930's style chandeliers, perfect Manhatten, knowledgeable waitstaff and of course--beautiful prime rib.

Can I eat there everyday??

Ok we decided to stop here after paying rent, since every month we drive by it on the 4th.

We made it inside for happy hour so the prices were incredible. The tempora appetizer and the prime rib bites were really really yummy! It's probably not a place I would come for dinner, since it was pricey.... but during happy hour the prices are really worth what you get.

It is really really dark in there, but it looks nice. The waitress was really nice and attentive.

All in all.... great place for cheap yummy happy hour appetizers!

We had so much fun at Clyde's last week! The food was good ol' meat and potatoes and it was done perfectly.
Our server, Becky, was stellar, she was on top of things and never let us see the bottoms of our glasses!
After we ate, we moved over to the bar for the live music and after a while it was VERY crowded, but still great. Before we knew it, we were out grooving to the beat on the dance floor!

I had driven past this place many times, and decided that we should stop in for dinner. Overall, it was disappointing. First off, there is not a window in that place, so you feel like you're walking into a dungeon when you walk in the door, especially if it's a nice sunny day because inside, you would never know it. We decided that we couldn't come here without getting the prime rib. Call me cheap, but for the price and the size cuts you get there, you could get twice as much other places in town. The food itself was good and the prime rib was good, but like i said, pricey. We decided to have a couple cocktails after dinner, and was shocked when I saw our bill and how much they charged us for them, and they were standard drinks. Nothing fancy. As we enjoyed our drinks, the crowd for the music started showing up, and the place went from a nice prime rib restaurant, to a cheap r&b club (by cheap i mean there was actually a guy in a purple fur pimp coat and purple fur pimp hat). Though it gave us a good laugh, it really ruined the atmosphere of the place for us and cheapened the place more. It seems like this place is in an identity crisis - can't decide between being a nice intimate prime rib restaurant and a nightclub. both do not work harmoniously together. Overall, it was an interesting experience. We are not likely to be back anytime soon, but enjoyed the good laughs and overly priced good prime rib for the night.

We decided to try clydes. After years of commenting on the random prime rib resturant on sandy.

We were seated quickly. I loved the booths it was decorated very 1950-60 dinner house really kitchy. I liked it. Everyone had there salads mixed table side but us which was strand then when we got the to-go it came out in a plastic con
Qtainer while everyone else seemed to get theirs wrapped in tin foil in some fun shape.

I thought the prices seemed resonable other than the dinner didn't come with a salad and it was an additional three dollars. It all adds up when you get 2 appitizers also. I agree their drinks are WEAK!

All and all we will put it on the list if we want to drop $80.00 on dinner 1 alcoholic drink and a soda

My husband and I went to Cylde's Saturday night for dinner. The prime rib was good. We ate in the lounge which is smoke free. Our waiter provided excellent service. Drink soda, beer or wine as the mixed drinks are weak for the price. Check the website calendar for music. The Elite R&B band was playing and the lounge was packed. The dance floor is small and very crowded with a diverse and lively 30 plus crowd. Seating is limited so get there early if you want a seat on a night when a popular band is playing. We had a great time and hope to return soon.

Here is a restaurant where Mom and Dad will want to go without the kids. Plush decor with large semi circular booths. They specialize in Prime Rib and serve it from a rolling cart. They even have yorkshire pudding to go with it.

I wanted to try Clyde's to support a neighborhood establishment, but was sadly disappointed by the quality and presentation of the food. My partner didn?t eat most of his meal; he found his steak to be lukewarm and overly salted. Considering the price, one would expect the beef to have been prepared flawlessly and there have been more imagination in the salad (lettuce with dressing) and sides. I will not go back; there are better places for steak in town.

Yesterday was our first visit under the new ownership. The quality of the steaks seems even better. I enjoy getting the prime rib carved from a giant mobile cart that looks like an Airstream trailer. But the meat itself is the star. It compares well to any quality steak restaurant in Portland. The house salad mixed at your table remains very good. We also started with an order of onion rings which had a flavorful batter and were well cooked.

The atmosphere is still old-timey with ample velvet banquettes. Apart from the bar areas (and we were there before music) it's reasonably calm and easy for conversation.

I only wish the creamed spinach and Yorkshire pudding from the previous ownership remained on the menu.

Stopped by to say hey to Clyde. The visit was a refreshing stop in my relaxing Portland stay. Steak was great, ravioli savory and the TNT was fixed just right!

I went here for my 1st anniversary/mothers day. I was so impressed. Our waiter was fantastic, funny and very friendly. The food was amazing. Other diners were friendly. The resturant was spotless and comfortable. Not to loud and not to quiet were you feel you have to whisper to your dinner date. It was a very great experience and one I would do over again anytime!

We spent New Years Eve with some of the nicest people in town. The food was excellent. Our dinners included the stuffed fillet, prime rib and crab cakes. Everyone loved their dinners. My crab cakes were great, crispy on the out side and moist and tasty on the inside. I would have liked more of the mango salsa on top. Our waitress, Renee was great and treated us like old friends by the time we left. We were on first name terms with what seemed like every member of the staff there by the end of the night. Great people, great food. Thank you Clyde, Renee, Brian, Nick and the Norman Sylvester band!

Come in for the great service and food but stay for the music. One of the best places in town to hear music although a bit crowded.

I've been there a few times on Friday and Saturday evenings... what a place to hang out and listen to amazing "get up and dance" music!!! The one thing I didn't like was the smoke.. It's deffinatly a place for smokers to enjoy...............I'm pretty sensitive with smoking and find that once the music starts, I don't even notice!!! The food is fantastic, but a little expensive...worth the price though.

The wait staff in the bar area are great.....personality plus!!!! We don't eat often in the restaurant side, but the happy hour/bar menu are great values and we always get good food. The $4.00 burger is HUGE! Remember the show "Cheers".....where "everybody knows your name"? Well, hang out at the PR and soon enough they'll be shouting out your name when you walk in the door! Oh and PS - Mike the Bartender makes a mean drink.....and loves to dish out the grumpy attitude....but he's a softy (just don't tell HIM that). :)

The food is very good, the drinks are too.
The music is so good the place is hopping.
The waiter-Tal is fast and funny. He takes care of the bar like no one else.
This is the hot spot of the NE these days.
Can't beat it!

Disappointed in the food. And the jazz. We went because of user reviews and I don't want others to be led astray as we were. It was ok. But for the price...NO!

One of Portland's coolest, vintage restaurants! The new owner is making some great changes that add fun and pizazz to the whole dining experience! Not only does it offer the best prime rib in town, (their classic "signature dish"), but the other menu selections are interesting and varied enough to accommodate a wide range of palates.
The addition of live music in the bar is a major plus and NO COVER!
This place is fast becoming a favorite and frequent hangout!

New ownership is making changes. They seem more interested in musical entertainment than in fine dining. The tossed salads are still good, but my favorite French dressing is gone from the menu. The new bread is tasteless. If you want the accompanying Yorkshire Pudding or the spinach, you must request it (no extra charge though). The prime rib is still excellent. Be sure to end the meal with the Hot and Gooey (hot brownie, hot fudge sauce, ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, cherry).
