Their coupon seems good until you learn there is an extra charge for a catheter and fluids in case of an emergency. WHAT? All of a sudden the charge is much higher that the last vet you called. Oh, and should I mention our baby boy of only 8 months died on their table...being neutered. BEWARE and BEWARNED

This place has ripped me off enough times now that I am finally done with them. I have same issues as people posted here with Ear Cleaning ripoff's, eyes, etc.. I urge you to listen to other reviewers and avoid this place. The hidden fee's and charging before asking for consent is ridiculous. We have gone for follow ups that were supposed to be part of the original cost and they charged us and re-ran tests that we already knew the results to. 0 Stars if it were an option.

We had a great experience with our dog there. He got into a little scrap with one of the neighbor's dogs, and we didn't know where to go. They were open on the weekend, and they could see us right away. They patched up our dog, they were friendly and the price was decent. We will be back!

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Although my first visit was fine, with an older doc, and he was very nice, I will NEVER go to Companion Pet Clinic in Hillsboro again! What a night mare! On this recent visit, my dog was bleeding, and I was told my dog has an UTI and received antibiotic's and told she would be fine. Well, she started bleeding again shortly after the biotics ran out, and I called for more. I was told to bring her back in. As ridiculous as it seemed, since I was just there... I brought her back. The female vet I saw was beyond the rudest woman I have ever met in my life! Once she closed the doors, she started raising her voice and telling me off. She told me if I didn't get my dog fixed right now, that her uterius is going to blow up and she would DIE. Seriously! I said "What? I was told she would be fine when I was last here." I mentioned that I have seen two totally different vets at the same clinic within 10 days of each other, with two totally different diagnosis and treatments. OMG! This woman was unreal! She was beyond pushy, rude, obnoxious, loud and very-very bizarre! I left with my dog, as there was no way in hell I would leave her there, along with a prescription for more antibiotics. I felt uncomfortable sitting in the lobby area waiting to pay my bill, because I knew everyone had to hear this histerical vet during my visit. At home, I looked at the prescription: the exact same illness, the exact same medicine, the exact same milligrams, but now less of a dose prescribed. I'm open to the idea that maybe my dog needs surgery. But I will NEVER allow such a horrible uncompassionate, unprofessional, group of people to ever touch my dog, let alone perfom surgery on her! Never again will I go to this clinic! I have a strong sense that they were expecting me to make rash decisions on my dogs health care out of fear and irrational threats of what might happen to her if I don't react instantly! This facility does not practice good pet health care "."

This is on the Hillsboro Companion Pet Clinic Took my 12 week old puppy in for a simple Hernia Operation and they SPAYED HER. They said I knew this all along and discussed it with me which they NEVER DID. Even called me a liar and said she would not be able to be bred anyway. So in a sense they took it upon themselves to make sure she would not breed pups with "possible" hernias. My research shows different. Besides that (and all reputable Vets knows this) females should not be spayed until they are between 6-7 months old! DO NOT TAKE ANY OF YOUR PETS THERE!

Hillsboro companion pet clinic is a rip off! They only want your money, and have no care about your pet. They require you pay for a new pet exam every time you walk thru the clinic doors even if it's only been a short time since your last visit. If you care about your pet do not, I repeat ,do not go to this clinic.

This clinic is always very clean, and pretty comfortable. It doesn't smell like a vet clinic at all. It's a newer building, and they seem like they keep it up. Exam fees are low, diagnostic and lab fees seem to be about typical. Their digital x-ray is very cool. Nothing is free, but they are competitive. Overall, their doctors are friendly and they do a good job. I bring my cat there for whatever she needs - and we leave happy every time. It is a walk-in clinic. I just bring a magazine and wait for an opening. It always works out in the end.

I've been taking my dog to Companion since he was 9 weeks old, he's now six. Sometimes there were issues such as when they were showing me his knees were bad, they popped them out, and caused him to limp for 4 weeks whenever we went on a walk that was more than a block or he jumped down from the couch. He hasn't really been the same since.

Also he has a chronic issue with his anal glands. Today he want to the vet to have them expressed. This is the first time the owner who is also a vet has looked at my dog. He was so uncaring, short, and rude. He didn't even do the anal gland expression as how the over vets at his office told me it had to be done. Its the why I have it done at the vet's office and not the groomer's My dog has had surgery on that part of his anatomy and I was told by the other vets that it needed to be done from the inside and he did not do this. After I called to complain, the receptionist advised that he was the owner, and didn't even tell me she would tell him my concerns, she just said she's write it in my dog's file. I guess since he was the owner that he didn't have to deal with complaints or issues from us.

The others vets are OK, but avoid Dr. Thoresen. I just looked at his vet license which is available online for the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board and he has been restricted and//or disciplined. I found this out after he saw my dog and had such a bad experience.

I have never heard of such a thing. he was swearing at me and yelling obscenities at me to pay.. i was so dissatisfied with the Dr. and he just held my dog til the police arrived... can u imagine. I was terrified he was going to do something to my dog after i saw how he was treating humans. very very deceitful! 26.95 turned into a nightmare and my 110 pound dog was shaking after that dr. kept him in a kennel for 2 hours until police made him give me my dog. what an exam. if your going to quote an exam. do the exam only unless i authorize other treatment and you let the client know before you do anything to anyones animals. 6 mins was the exam....SHOULD OF KNOWN I DIDNT CARE FOR DR. We took our cat to the hillsboro companion pet clinic. but never again. we had our cat fixed when we went to pick him up they said he was fine and normal. upon arriving home and getting him out of his carrier we realized he was bleeding bad. i called the vet clinic twice they said if it really concerned me i could bring him back in and i did but with in 5 minutes they sent me back out the door and said he was fine and the bleeding was normal. after 2 more hours at home and a steady stream of blood still flowing i began to call other pet clinics in the are and they all said it was far from normal and we needed to get our cat to a vet hospital immediately. upon arriving at the vet hospital they rushed our cat back and began running tests to see if he was anemic and told us they would need to keep him and monitor him. they people at companion pet clinic dont know what they are talking about and could have cost our cat his life if we listened to their advice. i will never take any of my pets here again and i hope no one else does either. you get what you pay for affordable yes. but horrible service and they dont know what they are doing or talking about.

I had my two large puppies fixed at this vet clinic spring of 2008. I got the appointment within a week, the staff was very friendly, helpful to my questions, and compassionate about the animals. The rates beat the local vets I called first. My friend recommended this clinic first, and my experience was very pleasant.

Don't be lured to companion pet clinics by their "low" prices. They will quote you once price before treatment, and charge you another by adding all sorts of small items that they did not bother to tell you about beforehand. They will also give your dog unnecessary vaccines which NO other vet gives (e.g. Corona). They will not notify you when your dog needs a vaccination, and then when you come in late they will hike up the price claiming that the vaccination is more expensive b/c you are doing it late. They more than make up for their "cheap" prices by their dishonest tactics, and by nickeling and diming you for small services that a normal vet wouldn't even think of charging for. Save yourself the frustration, and find a real clinic that truly cares about their patients, and is upfront about their pricing. Believe me, it won't be more expensive, and you'll feel like the reason they are there is to treat your pet, rather than to treat you as a milking cash cow.

The Dr's and staff are compassionate! Prices are very reasonable and they love animals. I'v been a customer for 18 years and they've treated my rescue older dogs, cats, geese, rabbits and iguana. Want a great vet, please consider these good folks,

I have been taking my cats and dogs here for over 20 years. The have a low turnover of staff, and a high rate of customer service. The front desk folks are always attentive (busy, yes, but attentive and polite). The vet techs are THE BEST and the vets are very compassionate. They spend enough time with patients, and are careful to give you your options and treatment information. The prices here are better than most places as well, which is a giant plus, esp since we have 5 cats and 2 dogs. I dont think the wait is any longer than anywhere else. I know I've waited at a Dr's office much long on many occasions. I'll stay with these guys.

They are in the slow side . The staff up front needs to be more friendly , but always had decent visits with Vet doctors . Never had a problem with them service are always wonderful. Always get very good vet doctors very caring about your pets. And your money is worth while . I been there for almost 2 years since I moved here. When my dog needed surgery on his mouth to remove a tooth that was bothering him . And of course it is expensive . They were nice enough to let me make payments . IT was reasonable surgery compare to other vet offices . So I would recommend to take your pets there.

this clinic is a little on the slow side to get in and out, but the quality of the care is excellent, and there are no more fair priced vets like this around. A basic visit to see a doctor is less than $30, and the medicines are reasonable too. I would highly recommend them for vet service, and with 8 cats, price and quality are the two number one concerns for me.

I have been going to Companion Pet Clinic for as long as I can remember. They treat my Pom-Princess and cat Bruiser like little children would treated at the pediatrician's, like there the most special animals in the world. Dr.Gary Powers is my favorite. Is very gentle with my 4 pound Pom and spends alot of time with her. He even takes the time to call me with her results, and not just 2 minute phone call, about 20 mins. of his time or more. Even the girls out front are friendly and helpful. The wait is long sometimes, but you must remember, your going to get the same amount of time and treatment when your turn comes. The prices are very cheap. I use to go to Stark St. Animal Clinic, they where outrageous in prices and surgery cost. I would go no where else and always recommend this place. I would lost and scared for my pet without this Vet office.

I had an unfortunate experience with this clinic. They started a new policy to charge customers fees if they use an internet pharmacy for their animals' prescriptions. They claim it is to deter people from using anything other than their own pharmacy, which they claim will guarantee quality medicine. It also guarantees people have to pay much higher prices than the internet pharmacies require. In my case, they did not inform me of the policy until after I completed all their required testing and ordered online. Then I got a call that they were sorry they forgot to tell me - but a charge would be on my account the next time I came in. Since I was not told of this ahead of time, I requested the fees to be waived this time only. They refused. I even spoke to Dr. Connolly who would not budge on their policy. I find this practice appalling and reeking of money grabbing. I take my pet's care seriously, and am taking my business elsewhere.

We have only gone to the Companion Pet Clinic since 2007, but I have to say that the doctors are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and caring. Our cat developed an illness that we were unsure of at the time what it was, if it was treatable, or anything else about it for that matter. The doctor came in an examined out kitty and said he was pretty sure he knew what it was but wanted to run a test first and did so. He was able to explain everything to us about the disease, treatment, life expectancy, etc. He was never unsure of himself or his diagnosis. Once the time came to have our kitty put down the doctor was very compassionate, took his time, even talked to us a few minutes afterwards and let us stay in the room as long as we needed before going into the lobby. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone who does not mind waiting a little longer to see a veterinarian that is worth seeing and not have to mortgage the house for either.

We love you and miss you Gizmo

This clinic always takes good care of our 4-legged friends. We have 1 dog, and 3 cats and LOVE the new facility and the staff all care for pets and it shows. In a couple of days we have 2 cats scheduled for spaying and neutering and we have absolute confidence that our babies will be well taken care of. Check out Companion Pet...no appointment necessary for most visits.

We took our doxie Maggie to this friendly office to help treat her potty problems. Maggie, who is scared of anyone new was completely at ease once she walked into the office. I was very suprised!! Would recommend to others, clean office, good record keeping and flexible scheduling!

The fees are unbeatable. The wait is usually long but worth it because it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to take your animal in. We have a cat with asthma and have visited the place many times. We are always treated with respect.

PROS: Fees are very low
CONS: Long wait

Made reservations to have my dogs boarded for Thanksgiving. I provided all shot records in advance of boarding. On the day that I arrived, I was informed by an employee working as a vet technician, that the dogs required additional vaccination in order to be boarded. This requirement was never mentioned when the shot records were provided. She was rude. She stated that she felt that the fact the I questioned the additional vaccination and lack of prior notice meant that I was questioning her professionalism. I asked to speak with a vet but none was made available. I followed up with my vet and was told that the vaccination in question, the Corona Virus, had not been studied in adult dogs. I was left on short notice without a place to board my dogs for Thanksgiving. CPC Hillsboro did me disservice.

I would not recommend this business to others.

PROS: New Facility
CONS: Poor Customer Service

We used to have two dogs when I was younger. We always took them to Companion Pet Clinic in Hillsboro. The staff there was very kind and caring. They kept excellent records, billed us correctly (which seems to be pretty rare now days!), and the atmosphere was very professional. The clinic was always very clean. Our dogs eventually passed on and I haven't been there since, but I would highly recommend their services!

Why take your pets to Gresham Companion Pet Clinic. Because they Vets are are caring, compassionate, extremely knowledgeable and totally committed to the well being of your pets. There dedication and commitment goes far beyond the call of duties. They saved my dying puppy from the horrible PARVO virus. Today 7 yrs later she is a healthy happy Aussie Shepard Thanks to the wonderful staff and veterinarians who watched over her and nursed her back to full health. She has her regular check ups and gets all excited to go see he favorite veterinarian. The wait can be a little long but well worth it, get there early. Take it from one who knows you will feel safe knowing that your beloved pets are in good hands at the Gresham Companion Pet Clinic. "Woof Woof"

PROS: great care
CONS: wait time

The clinic always had a smell whenever we went there. The front area was not kept very clean and the staff was indifferent to us. It was just like we were just another customer and they were not interested in personal service. The wait to be seen was always long and the staff was not always good with the animal. They insisted that my dog have a muzzle each time he was seen instead of trying to see what the problem was. Each animal is different in personality and temperment and this dog was an extremely excitable dog but they did not want or take the time to see what could be done other than subdue the dog. They were not very helpful in suggestions to make the pet more comfortable

PROS: Cheap
CONS: Dirty, not helpful, did not care to help make the animal comfortable.

I have taken my animals to companion pet clinic for many years! although the place is a little dirty, I really like Dr. Alford! He has always taken really good care of my animals, and he seems very fair in what he does! The wait can be long so I get there first thing in the morning when I know that I have to take my animals in! when I am there early the wait is not long at all! The best thing that I like is that I can trust that I am not getting ripped off my Dr. Alford, he lets me know my options, and the prices are reasonable and good! I have always experienced good customer service when I am there! The staff always seem very caring toward the animals! I would definately recommend this place

Like Stella had noted before me I see, the staff is rude here !!!

I used to visit this clinic when I lived in Gresham, but after you do wait a LONG time to finally see one of their committee of vets ( only 1 of them is even worth seeing ), and when someone needed to have their cat put down, one of the vets came out into the lobby, in front of the other customers, to tell this person it was useless to have their cat continue living--the older couple that brought the cat in were very upset--and the vet continues his conversation with them--all to no avail that this couple wanted to be told in private.

PROS: Many Companion Pet Clinics in the Portland area.
CONS: Very rude staff and terrible customer service--see Review above.

I have no idea why I continued to go here for services other than there was no need for an appointment and it was close to where I lived. The rudeness to me from the office personal was irritating then the doctor's continued rudeness finally prompted me to move on. I am so glad I did!

PROS: No need for appointments
CONS: Long waiting and extreme rudeness

Companion Pet Clinic is just a wonderful
place if you need a good vet service.
They do a little boarding as well if you
have a pet that needs special care.
