Smolich Nissan has an incompetent service department that nickel and dimes. I've now had two regrettable experiences with Smolich Nissan in Bend Oregon. The first time I took my car in was for a power steering leak. They did fix the leak, but added a bird??s nest of scratches to the front right quarter panel, presumably while the technician was bent over the panel working on the power steering system. Thanks for using one of those protective pads Smolich! They did offer to let ME take it across the street and have the scratches buffed out at their Smolich Hyundai location. All would have been well if they just would have paid attention to detail and taken care of the scratches before calling me to tell me the car was ready for pick up. Additionally, when I dropped the car off I ask that they isolate rattling in the front end and fix the problem. They said they could not find any rattling. I later found 4 of the 8 front grill clips to be broken, which allows the grill to rattle when encountering bumps. Needless to say I was extremely unhappy with my experience at their service department. I told myself I would never go back to them. Then recently I took my car to another shop in town for a 'service engine soon' indicator light. For a diagnostic charge of $85 the other shop informed me that the indicator light was due to the catalytic converter. While the catalytic converter was not covered under my extended service plan, it was covered under Nissan's 80,000 mile / 8 year warranty. So, reluctantly I scheduled an appointment with Smolich Nissan to have the converter issue addressed. When I dropped the car off, I also informed them of a possible leak on one of the A/C hoses. They called me later and informed me that indeed the indicator light had come on because of the catalytic converter. They also informed me that in order for the catalytic converter to be covered under Nissan's warranty, that the fault would have to duplicate/repeat itself. They continued to inform me that indeed I did have a leak on the A/C hose and they I could come pick up the car, drive it while the A/C hose was being shipped, and see if the indicator fault light came back on. The fault light did not come back on and I took the car back in when the A/C hose had arrived. When checking out after the repair on the A/C hose I discovered I was being charged another $51 for the confirmation of the diagnostic light. I had already told them that I had it diagnosed at another shop in town. I even offered them the print out from the other shop. When I questioned the legitimacy of the charge, the cashier was happy to defer to John Price in the service department. John informed me that Nissan requires the fault to be confirmed, cleared, and duplicate itself in order to be covered under warranty. This didn't explain why they were nickel and dimming me with a $51 charge to connect a diagnostic hand held computer and run a 20 second scan on what was an overall bill of $547.42. Shame on Smolich for being incompetent and nickel and dimming their customers. I WILL NEVER take my car to them again. I will however suggest Chuck's Auto Shop who did free diagnostic scans and quality work on another car of mine, or Weisners Automotive Services who did the original diagnoses of the indicator light but took the initiative to do the research and inform me that the catalytic converter was still under warranty through Nissan. Weisners could have just told me that the converter was bad and gave me a quote to fix it. But then I wouldn't have had anything to write about. Don't waste your time with Smolich Nissan!

I have purchased not one, but two Jeeps from Smolich Motors. Both of my purchase experiences were very pleasant and I was given no pressure from the sales department at all. My salesman was very knowledgeable on every line of vehicle I was considering. He was very patient with my decision making and also gave me a tour of the dealership and introduced me to the staff there. So, when I had to bring my vehicle in for a recall a few weeks later, I knew exactly where the service department was. Their waiting room is very inviting and my car got a free bath and vacuum. And, they also offer rental vehicles if needed. It's a one stop shop and I was able to address all my needs in one visit. Talk about putting customers first! I will buy all of my vehicles from Smolich Motors from here on out.

They had my Volvo off and on for about a month and a half. Numerous visits. Numerous repairs and still never found out what was wrong with it. I did some research online and we had it fixed first try. It was a sensor that they said they fixed (obviously had not been checked because it was in terrible condition). I still paid them hundreds of dollars for repairs that didn't fix the initial problem. They were pretty much guessing what was wrong with it.

They did have good customer service in the repair shop and they did pay for a large portion of the unneeded repairs so they weren't all bad. However, I will not buy another Volvo if I can't find someone else to service it in Central Oregon.

We owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee when we moved to Bend and were looking for a reliable mantanence and repair source. This dealership was recommended to us and we found their work to be of good quality and their costs on a par with other repair shops. They also offored occasional maintenance specials which we used. The staff were friendly and helpful. We used this source as long as we owned a Jeep product.
