Great manicure probably because I did the Shellac. Pedicure polish was chipping off before I even got home. Would not go again

Beware this place is filthy and exposes the public to raw sewage leaking from its pedicure stations.

Best pedicures, massages and facials and love the steam room/soaking pool!

Went to have my medium brown hair cut and colored. I stressed over and over that I did not want my hair to come out dark. Reassured that it would not. A lady with 8 years experience dyed my hair said the roots would be slightly lighter

What a disaster!!! I went in for a haircut that involved short hair with long layers and came out with what the girls at Dosha called " a cute pixie". Were I going for a PIXIE this would have been great, but I wasn't! My hair is now 2

A dear friend recently gave me the gift of a very generous salon/spa certificate to Dosha I went here for a manicure/pedicure. It was not even a little bit good. The polish came off the next day. Dosha is one of the most overrated

I would never go back. My pedicure was done by a young man whose hands were shaking and he took twice as long as the two folks there. It was creepy.

I have gotten several treatments here over the years and they were all so-so. I kind of wonder why I keep coming back. Recently it was the closing of my favorite spa that brought me in. I was in great need of facial. I thought, how bad could it be, they are using Aveda products just like I use at home? Well it was bad. My tech was interrupted during my service and left me waiting for 40 mins, during a 60min facial. I finally got up washed my own face and left.

I have been going to this salon off and on for the past 3 years in emergency "roots" situations, hoping to get a simple trim and highlights. The results have included hair being burned off leaving spiky spots on the top of my head, layers being cut crooked in the front, brassy highlights (the brass was instant and I use the correct products at home to prevent this). Most recently, I got my hair cut and colored downtown. The shampoo was freezing cold. The stylist could not figure out how to mix the color, they cut my hair with out checking to see if it was even (it was not, nor were the layers blended). To top it off, my bangs were not cut- after telling the stylist that blending my growing out bangs into my hair was the reason for the entire visit. I have tried and tried over the last 3 years at different locations with different stylists. Don't trust your tresses to this place, even in desperation. I've had better mall haircuts.

I had admired Dosha on Hawthorne for months??noticing their ties with Aveda, the modern architecture, clean lines and seemingly high-end experience to be had.

The architecture is nice, but everything else was horrible! From the moment I called to book an appointment I became skeptical, and then I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

The email confirmation for my appointment was incorrect??so my Mom missed her appointment??and it was "our fault". The associates were rude and all about moving people through as quickly as they could. No personal connection or traditional spa-like customer service was to be had.

My waxing was MISERABLE, unprofessional and down right unacceptable. The Esthetician had wax everywhere when trying??oh, yes, trying??to wax my lower arms. I have been waxing my brows and arms for years and have never encountered an experience as ridiculous as this. The quality of the waxing was extremely low and then the process that was experienced from beginning to end was comical and irritating. To top it off she doused my arms in oil to "remove" the wax and then told me I was free to go. I had to ask for a towel to wipe the dripping oil off! Seriously?!

The entire ambiance was loud??music, chatter, etc. I felt like I walked into a war zone??not really the atmosphere one is looking for when booking a beauty or spa treatment.

The prices are low for a reason. They churn and burn their clientele and offer no customer service or added touches to your experience. I wouldn't even let my dog get her nails clipped there!

This place isn't even worthy of 1 star.

Consumers beware. My experience at Dosha was completely ruined by the negative encounter with the sales and management staff that followed. I strongly advise you to purchase Aveda products someplace else...a salon that cares about customer service. If you risk buying a product or service at Dosha, know that you will NOT receive a refund or discount for any errors made by them. You will be entirely out of luck. They overcharged me on my credit card and the salesgirl had difficulty reversing the charge. It took her 25 minutes and the staff were trying to get me to buy more products to make up for their error. Needless to say, I will never do business with or recommend Dosha again to family or friends.

I went to this salon with a friend of mine. She scheduled a 60-min. facial, I had a 75-min. facial. Both started at the same time. And, unfortunately, both ended at the same time. When I requested a refund for the percentage of time I did not receive ($15) I was told they could offer me another facial that I had to get within two weeks. I was also told that they had extended my friend's service so that we both got 75-min. treatments. I was told that they had clocked my service ending at the correct time, implying that I was lying. Thankfully, I still had my receipt showing that, if their version of events was truthful, I would have had to shower, change, get downstairs, and pay within three minutes. I was offered another free service to be used within six months. Since I had no desire to return to their salon, their offer of a free service was ridiculous. Also, I wasn't asking for another $75 treatment. I just wanted back what I had overpaid. In the end, I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau before they would give me my $15 dollars back, which they did return shortly after receiving the complaint. If they would have done so immediately, there wouldn't have been any problem and I would have considered returning as I did enjoy my facial but due to the very poor level of customer service I received, I will not go back nor would I recommend them to anyone. Now, I'm considering contacting Aveda to share my experience. Those poor folks shouldn't sully their name by being in such an establishment.

I walked in for my apt and was ignored by front desk staff. Finally a younger (18-20ish) girl treated me to a hostile stare and checked me in. When my cut was done, I asked the same girl, who was standing there gossiping with a male staff member, a question about the product my stylist had showed me, she again stared at me blankly before turning away from me! If Im not good enough to pay your wages..don't worry, I wont.

Being a former employee I felt like I needed to contribute to the less than fabulous reviews. I feel people should know what they are paying for and that is a scalp and hand massage. The boss is more concerned with getting those into the service than the actual outcome of the haircut. Every cut must be in 45 minutes no matter if they have ethnic hair down to their rear! With the shampoo, scalp massage, hand massage, consultation and UNREALISTIC retail goals, it literally leaves like 15 minutes for the actual cut! And I dont know anyone who buys a product EVERY time they come in. This salon is about QUANTITY NOT Quality. They treat their employee's horribly! If you want a great cut from a well run salon, go to MAGNUM OPUS! Ive never had a bad experience there and Ive been going there for over 10 years!

It has potential ,but they aren??t living up to the hype. The spa was noisy, despite the messages for quiet time. The lunch was horrible. The massages a bit on the painful side. And the make-up, with a request for a night-on-the-town, looked like 10 years had been added and the more make-up would be worn to wash the car. Very disappointing.

I have tried Dosha twice now, both times at the Hawthorne location, and walked away disappointed. I get gift certificates there every Christmas from work. First, the ladies giving my friend and I pedicures were rude, talked loudly to one another about personal matters while caring for us (which made my friend and I feel as though we should sit quietly and not interrupt them) and walked off when finished without even telling us whether we were done or what was happening. When I paid with my gift certificate the cashier rolled her eyes and proceeded to help another customer in front of me because she said only managers could deal with gift certificates (WTF!). I ended up waiting 20 minutes for the manager to find time to check us out so we could leave. To make matters worse, the nail polish application was no better than what I can do myself at home (and I'm really not that good!). Even more... there was money left on my gift certificate. They took down my name and the amount onto a little business card they keep in a box at the front desk. Recently, I moved and now I can't find my certificate anywhere so I called to inquire about what i could do- the answer is nothing. They have the card, yes, but that is to make sure I don't try to change the amount myself apparently and can't be used to prove anything else. Ridiculous! Now I'm out almost 100 dollars with of a gift certificate!

I recently had the experience of being a model for a test cut with Dosha for a friend applying for a position. Let's start by saying my friend has 8 years of experience and trained with the biggest names in the industry. After my test cut, the instructor didn't even comb through the cut. He didn't even look at it to see what kind of a job was done nor did he look at any other of the test cuts going on. He said to my friend, that he didn't do a hand massage, and that's what they were looking for. Aveda trains to give hand massages with their cuts. Fine. But this is what you are looking for in a stylist. After reading through the reviews, I understand why they are performig so low. So my friend with 8 years of experience, coming to Portland from Seattle with clients who have followed them from all over the northwest (seriously people traveled from Portland to Seattle to get their hair cut by them), isn't measured on the quality of cut, but by a hand massage. Also, they wanted to pay them minimum wage for a year. WOW. What a disfunctional salon if I have ever have known one. A ship is definitely sinking.

If you have had Elise do you eye brows before, you're truly blessed. She is the best of the best and I am critical for good brows. I have been to Elise for at least 3 yrs and was heart broken when I was called and informed that she was no longer at Dosha. What was I going to do about these brows? Did I panic, no! All things happen for a reason and fate reunited us. Share my experience and need your prayers answered to end your search? You will find Elise at Valerium. No take a deep breath, smile and pick up the phone. She really is the best!!!

As a friend of current and ex employees i have heard it all. This place is a dump and ran by horrible people. Just take a good look around and you will see. Ask an employee (management excluded they will lie for Dosha) and they will tell you the same. The only thing good left about this spa are the techs and they are treated like !@#$%. If you knew how Dosha truelly felt about clients $$$ and how they treat employees you would not visit this spa you would just feel bad for the employees (many single mothers) who are exploited. Last I heard the estheticians are pulling in a whopping $9.00-$9.50 hr and they are trying to cut those wages if they can't sell an impossible amount of product. Shame shame Dosha

I made an appt.and was shown to my chair, by a stylist (if you want to call him that) who has enormous fish-like glasses. He informed me, as we were in the midst of cutting, that he cut hair to express his creative side. He did not particularily have a passion for it. Needless to say, he cut hair chin-length. It was uneven (longer on one side than the other) and I looked as if I had cut it w/ my eyes closed. They overcharged me on my credit card and had difficulty reversing the charge. Disapointed. Aveda/Dosha has become "cookie-cutter" styling salons. Sad actually.

Made appointment 4 days in advance for a facial. Was using a gift certificate given to me for my birthday. Appointment was for 2:15 pm on a Saturday. At 12:50 pm, they left a message on my work phone to inform me that the aesthetician was sick and they had to cancel my appointment. Of course, I did not get the message before the appointment and showed up only to be told that my appointment had been canceled. Note that THEIR policy is 24 hours advance notice of cancellation--they didn't even give me 2 hours notice. They did offer to re-schedule the appointment for another day (this is hardly compensation for the time I wasted on Saturday) and a "VIP 10% discount." I explained that it was a gift certificate, so the discount did me no good. "You can use the credit to purchase products in our store." So, in effect, no compensation for having wasted a good part of my Saturday. Very unprofessional. I would never go there voluntarily, but I don't want to waste the gift certificate, so I guess I will try to re-schedule.

I had an appointment recently with the amazing "Delva" at Dosha Salon and Spa. Delva is simply the best haircutter I have ever found. She has an amazing ability to cut hair and I have never had a "bad haircut" by her. She is truly a gifted artist! Now, I did not get my haircut at my last appointment because Dosha Salon has introduced a "Consent and Release Agreement" which they are requiring ALL customers to sign EVERY TIME they receive services - even a haircut! This is truly outrageous. I refused to sign it and now I do not know who I am going to find to cut my hair. Are there other customers out there who feel the same way? Please post!

They chareged me the wrong amount and then took 20 min to figure out my right charge, said they would void the first one and now I have 2 large charges from Dosha. They crossed out the recipt with the wrong amount in front of me telling me that they would void it, it was my mistake to trust that they would actually do that. They actually sent me a copy of the recipt with a line thru it indicating it would be voided. Now I am fighting with them. This is one of those business that I just hopes goes out of business. I get to spend my time on there mistake. Did I mention the services were awful, this is not a spa, I would have been better off in a chair at the mall. Also the place was not sanitary.

As a former employee of Dosha, I'm appauled at these reviews. I understand that the people can be a little nose-in-the-air-ish, but that's what you're to expect walking into a high end salon. "cheezy" is not the word most use to describe Dosha Hawthorne's athmosphere. Its a small space that looks bigger than it is, with a little fire place, expensive wood siding, some tall mirrors to check out your style, while it could use some new carpet in the waiting area, it's very nice looking. If you don't believe me, CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE (Dosha(dot)org). If ever you've had a bad hairstyle at Dosha, you've obviously not spoken up about what you want, or called back to complain. All of their salon's have a 2 week redo policy - if you don't like it, COME BACK IN and they'll fix it for free. I was a client before I was an employee and I absolutly adore it. My stylist does exactly as I say, he always has great suggestions and everyone, myself included, loves my hair. If you don't like aveda product, bring your own. If you don't like the tea, bring some wine. Please don't be scared of these reviews. Bad news travels ten times faster than good news ever will. Please don't be afraid to try out a salon, if you hate it, never come back but don't knock it before you try it.

Cons: Parking is tricky.

We went to Dosha Spa this past Saturday and had a great massage and facial but when it came to charge my credit card, the woman charging us was having a very difficult time figuring out what to do. She took my credit card and charged me the wrong amount and then claimed she "voided" it and charged me the correct amount. After 20 minutes of waiting while we pay for our services, she still did not get it right. Dosha charged me twice: Once for the wrong amount (which was a very large and incorrect amount) and one for the right amount. The void apparently did not go through. I called in to get this fixed and was told I would be called back. I personally believe that people who do not know how to process a credit card shouldn't be able to. I am missing a significantally large amount of money from my checking account and God knows it takes a very long time to get charges reversed. it's one thing to make mistakes on your own calculations and your own finances but it is another to mess with someone elses. To say the leaset, I will not recommend any of my friends to Dosha and will certainly not go there again myself. I went there to relax and de-stress -- but ironically Dosha actually increased my stress level.

I had gone to Salon In Vogue a few times and always took pictures of an old haircut that I wanted to replicate, which I never got so I went to Dosha Hawthorne. When I called I asked for an experienced stylist, and was told that it would be upwards of $50. I brought $10 cash to tip (bad habit of overtipping.) So we got there, and immediately I hated the cheesy zen atmosphere, which was just trying too hard. We waited for about 15 minutes, and some girl came over and said she was going to shampoo me. She was not the girl who was supposed to cut my hair. The girl who was cutting my hair came over after my hair was wet (this is important because I have very curly hair and she how had no idea what it looked like and how much it would curl up). She was nice enough, but I showed her the pictures and she did not do ANYTHING that I asked. The haircut was completely different. Also, it was about 4 inches shorter than the pictures, wayyyy above the hairline. She styled it terribly and made me look like I was in my 50's (I'm 25). When I went to pay, I found out that she was not the stylist I had set up the appointment with, and she was newer and less experienced so the charge was only going to be $20 (this was after I gave that moron a $10 tip). Oh, and did I mention that this was the day of my wedding reception?
NEVER go to this salon. Everyone that I encountered was rude and acted like it was effing Manhattan. I have yet to get a good cut at a Dosha salon and I'd honestly rather try Great Clips than go back there. Not to mention that the Aveda products stink and the tea they offer is nasty.

I had a terrible cut and color at Dosha. I called back to have it redone and went back a second time. The second time, I only had the color done and it came out worse than the first time. I had no idea it was terrible until someone told me the back of my head was orange. I don't like to spend a lot of time checking myself out in the mirror so I had no idea. I went to another salon to have it fixed at great expense. Dosha will not do anything to rectify the situation. No refund, no 'sorry', no nothing. So I'm out hundreds of dollars because they could not get the job done right the SECOND time. I was told that because I went to another salon, they would not refund me. Ridiculous. Why would I subject myself to a third botched job at their salon? Please, AVOID this salon if you would like a quality cut or color.

Today I had an appointment scheduled with Regis but got a call an hour before I was to go to it, that they had to cancel. I stared watching tv and saw the commercial for DOSHA and thought wow, is this meant to be for me or what? I decided to go online to find out where they were located and ended reading the reviews, I am glad I did. I am scared to death to try them. Sorry DOSHA, I'll wait for my salon to have an opening.

I made an appointment in April for me, my bridesmaids, and my mom to get our hair done for my wedding in August. I went to my hair trial in July and everything went fine. When we showed up to our appointments on the morning of the wedding I was told the person who did my hair at the trial was not there and that someone else was going to do my hair (then what was the point of having the trial, so they could make more money I assume). The new person attempted to do my hair and after a half hour of walking around me and occasionally taking a comb to it, nothing had happened. She then asked me to get up because she wasn?t going to be able to do my hair. The front desk guy asked me to go get my makeup done and that they would try and figure something out. So, I walked across to the Mac and started getting my makeup done. Half way thru my makeup appointment I got a call from the front desk guy telling me not to come back that no one could do my hair today. My BM was also at Mac and I told her what happened and she marched over there and gave them a guilt trip about how they had a bride outside in tears on her wedding day because they have not properly trained their employees how to do an up-do. Well, they ended up getting me in to another stylist who was very polite and apologetic. The hair wasn?t exactly what I wanted but at least it was done. I still have never gotten an apology or discount or any notion that this situation being rectified despite my four voice messages to the person I booked the appointment with. Bar none, worst customer service I have ever had in my life and would never recommend any one to go there if there life depended on it. Save your money, you would better off doing your hair yourself.

I had my first massage there today. Wow! The place looks great inside and out! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted. They asked for my info then gave me a tour of the area I was going to be waiting at. They made me feel really comfortable and let me know where everything was just in case I needed anything. My massage therapist came out promptly and did an amazing job! I had the hot stone therapy therapy and she was always making sure that I was comfortable with the temp. of the stones and everything in general. Parking is kind of hard to find, but just make the time to get there a few minutes early. Other than that overall great service and I felt amazing afterwards! I definitely recommend this place to everyone! :)

I have worked at Dosha for many, many years and I love it. I am frustrated reading the posts of former employees complaining about working at Dosha and not liking it. As a long term employee, I can say with much experience that Dosha is a great place to work. If you are a hard working, ambitious person, Dosha is the place to work. From my many years of employment, I have found that the lazy do not like Dosha because we have high standards with whom we employ and we expect employees to meet these standards. Let me make clear to you that I am not management, supervisor, or lead employee. I work for Dosha and I love it. As any company, we have our flaws and we work constantly to improve them. We do care about the people we serve on a daily basis and strive to give great service. Dosha is an amazing place to work with amazing opportunities.

Yeah I worked for them for a year and a half. Most therapists are overworked and under payed with little benefits unless you want to pay out the wazoo for them. Many people I worked with were in a great deal of pain themselves and not to mention in order to make a decent wage you had to work 40 plus hours a week doing 25 or more massages a week which is almost impossible for LMTs. I continued to get my haircuts here because I didn't know where else to go and then got a really bad cut, wanted a redo, phonecalls weren't returned and I gave up swearing never to go back again.

The first time that I got a haircut from Dosha it was Awesome but when I called to make another appointment , the stylist didn't work there anymore. So I decided that I would try a getting my haircut with another person. I am not pleased with my haircut she did the exact opposite of what I wanted . This place it way over priced . My son was looking at the fire place and the receptionist got all freaked out then told me that children were not welcome. She should told me when I made the appointment so that I could find someone to watch him.Don't waste your money at this awful place.

I got a gift certificate to Dosha for my birthday. I called to make the appointment and the person I spoke with was very rude. I let that slide and went for my massage. I was treated like garbage by everyone I spoke with. I gave my name and was told to "sit over there". I was left waiting for much too long. My massage was not very good.
They try to come across as very high end and upscale, but they really arent. They charge too much money for second rate services. I still have money left on my gift certificate but have no intention of using it.

I recommend saving your money and spending it somewhere that will give you much better service.

This place is heaven. The best I have had in hair service for many years. Lately, I have been visiting for spa time....you know, massage and body services. It has been great. All the great service I have enjoyed downstairs for years is likewise in the upstairs spa. And yes, they have a WONDERFUL soaking pool that started taking the kinks out before I even went for the massage last time. Kudos to Dosha for a great time in a pretty place.

As a former employee of Dosha I must say... I was very dissatisfied with the way Dosha presents itself to the client, compared to the actual situation and inner workings of the spa. I too agree that the front desk staff are often cold and uncaring. They do not appear interested in the client beyond meeting their required quota for sales. It is said that some front desk workers have also been discovered to be pocketing tips that clients leave for their technician or therapist instead of giving it the rightful person. On that note, if you liked your services there, tip that person directly. The appearance of the facility on the surface, is posh, classy and pleasing. However, the standard that Dosha claims to offer is not being met on several levels. For example; employees have been overheard saying that the hot tub is not properly maintained and personally I would not enter it. The conversation of employees observed downstairs is often inappropriate and crude. I quickly became tired of apologizing for the callous treatment the client had received from the front desk and the noise and conversations that they may have been exposed to. I felt that there was a general lack of professionalism and respect for the clients that are vital to the business. Overall, there is a shabbiness to the whole spa that led me conclude that Dosha is not what it seems and although many of the services offered are done by qualified, professional, caring employees, those employees see very little of the money you paid for that service. Therefore, you are paying to support a corporation, not a person and often you are not getting the experience you are expecting and deserving of. I recommend doing your research if you want a quality spa experience, and going somewhere else!

I had heard numerous adds about Dosha... It sounded great... Not true. I came in for a bazillion wax, so we are gonna get personal. I was dressed down, and comfortable... I walked in a quickly got the "look over", as if I clearly didn't know where I was, and was in the wrong place. No one greeted me, they just looked at me. I said I had an appointment. They looked me up and still said nothing... I waited for a few minutes, and was then asked to follow this woman up the stairs... Ok... I am feeling very awkward at this point... Upstairs is where the salon is. I am told to wait "here". I sit down and look around... waiting, and wondering if I have made a mistake... I am then led into a cold "closet-like" room and asked to lay down on the table... the table is a metal table with no bedding of any kind... like an exam table for animals. The walls were concrete and no music, candles, or anything of the sort that you would expect if you were going to take your pants off.... I was so uncomfortable...

Needless to say, I have spoken with several people in the salon/spa industry, and they told me that Dosha is where all the newbies go. Dosha has a horrible policy that if someone leaves to go get a job elsewhere, they cannot take clients with them... I met a woman who used to work for them, and she said it was an awful experience... and I was clearly in the wax training room.

I advise you to spend you money at a locally owned spa, where people are real, and they don't have cold steal tables...

This place prides themselves on being a very upscale salon but they really are no better than a Great Clips. The first time I went here I thought it was okay, maybe I had just got a girl who wasnt good at cutting hair. The next few times I went to get my hair done I realized this place really isnt all that it's cracked out to be. When I got highlights they looked horrible, not only did they look really grown out but they were not how I asked them to be. I would never recommend this place. There are many other upscale salons in Portland that do a better job.

I got the WORST haircut here. The stylist did the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I asked for. I said I was trying to grow out my hair and didn't want to lose much length, and she cut several inches off. I said I didn't like the way my hair was tapering away from my face, and she made the tapering even more pronounced--MUCH more. To top it off, my hair was uneven--longer on one side than the other. I was practically in tears when I left, and I still absolutely hate the way my hair looks.

Dosha is a nice facility and it's fairly pricy, so I thought maybe my experience was a fluke. But after seeing so many other one-star reviews, it seems my experience was pretty typical. I would have been better off going to Great Clips! I won't be back.

I got the WORST haircut here. The stylist did the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I asked for. I said I was trying to grow out my hair and didn't want to lose much length, and she cut several inches off. Hmmm... Where should I start? I got a massage and a nail service here. That was awesome!!! But during my nail service. There was this guy looking in at the windows and through the shampoo bowls. I didn't know if he worked there. I didn't know what the heck he was doing. it was creepy... I think I would of had a better time if that wouldn't of happened...
