I made the mistake of hiring Cross Town Movers to move an antique grand piano for us. Pianos are tough to move, so we called around and check on them repeatedly and felt they were our safest bet. This was a big mistake.

They showed up with 3 staff to move the piano out of a single-story house. They were told time and time again that they were moving it into a 2 story house, into the upstairs. They showed up to deliver the piano with 2 people, claiming that they had no idea it would be a difficult move, and that they needed 3 people for this job. They then decided that 3 people couldn't do it safely, and that they'd need to hold us up for a lot of additional money for equipment and additional manpower. I asked them why they thought they'd only show up with 2 people when they had needed 3 to get it out of a single story house, but they didn't answer.

They then got their boss on the phone, who told me in a belligerent tone "we need to get this thing off our truck". I asked why they didn't show up with enough people to move it then, and pointed out that they had been given every detail in advance and should have come prepared. They claimed that the person we'd given details to (we'd actually told two different people at two different times) hadn't bothered to write it down. They then said they'd put it in their in-town storage at no charge while they rescheduled redelivery.

Several days later they call us up saying our piano is in a different state, and that we'd need to pay additional money for them to deliver it back to the starting location. A lot of bickering back and forth ensued, and finally they agree to drop the piano off with some other movers in Seattle and accept the original payment for having done less than what they had originally contracted to do.

The problem is, they only delivered part of the piano. Somehow they've misplaced the lyre (the pedals), removed some of the support bracing from underneath (there was no reason for this?), and they didn't pad the keys so the original ivory has been broken off of some of the keys.

All star Transfer in Seattle did an excellent job bringing in the piano, and they did it with three people and without trying to hold us up for additional money.

These guys are scammers! They came to give me a flat bid for my local move and then tried to change the price after they realized the move would take longer. One of the movers smelled like alcohol and took smoke breaks all day long. I even caught him smoking in my garage. When the move was done, it looked like they had done 20 years of damage to my furniture in one day. I will never recommend this company.
