Ledding Library

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very laid back (ie, librarians in Hawaiian shirts). The children's department has fantastic programs in the summer and the children's section in general is really good. It's housed downstairs, away from the rest of the library so that the kids can be noisy. It can be a little noisy near the circulation desk and computers, but if you go into the back corners of the nonfiction section, it's much quieter. Their books are a bit outdated (movies too), but it's a library! They do interlibrary loans! Just let them know what you are looking for and they'll help you get it.

This library ( the only one in Milwaukie) needs to remember that people come to the library to read or study. The noise level is very loud on a consistent basis and the librarians do not hush anyone. Many small children speaking loudly, cell phone conversations, even the librarians talking loudly. Please, please quiet down!

PROS: The only library in Milwaukie
CONS: not a lot of space and LOUD

Many of the books here are out of date. They have a small new book collection, but it is understandable that new books aren't a priority in this financially tight community we all reside in. I do like the building the library is in, but the new book selection could be better.
