I have been taking my Grandson here for the past few years and would not go anywhere else. When we first started going he cried the whole time and the hairdresser really worked with him a lot and was capable of doing his hair in 10

They did an amazing job at cutting my active 2 yr old son's hair. He doesn't usually sit still for anything, but they got him to sit still and gave him a better than expected haircut.
I would definately recommend them to anyone with children of all personality types.

We went to Castle Kids Cuts with our 4 year old autistic son. It was his first haircut and the Autism Society of Oregon suggested this salon as being the best one for children with that particular disability to go to. They were not wrong! There are toys there for every age. I don't mean a basket of blocks--there was a playhouse, a full-sized train set on a train table, a Gamecube with a Mario game in it, books, Barbie dolls, and movies. It is open and airy and bright. I did not find it dark, and I also found the toys to be clean and well-kept. There is a diaper changing station there as well. The seats are toy cars and planes, but they also have a less daunting chair for children who find that to be too much. They also do adult cuts, so they have a regular chair there too. I really liked how the place did not smell like a salon: in fact, it smelled like NOTHING AT ALL which is great for children with sensory processing disorder. At each station there is a television to watch (your child gets to pick 'their' movie), some toys to play with, and BUBBLES! The stylists do not ask your child to sit still and do not mind kicking and screaming. They knows tricks to help get the job done with the least amount of fuss. My child actually felt so at ease there that he had a very pleasant experience. We'll be making it a habit to go there a few times a year for our son's haircuts. It is a ways away from us, but definitely worth it.

I brought my 6-year-old twins to Castle Cuts and we LOVED it! My children are terrified of the buzzers, so Robin used only scissors on their hair. The boys had so much fun playing in the large play area with very cool toys, and watching spongebob on tv. I also saw another stylist cutting young toddlers' hair, and she was excellent with the children. The boys' haircuts are GREAT.

I do not agree with the negative reviews below. Yes, the interior design could perhaps use a facelift. However, if one views it from the eyes of a child (which is the whole point of this business), it is simply magical. Both stylists were awesome with the children, even at the end of a long day. The kids just loved sitting in a jetplane while having their hair cut. They both said they ALWAYS want to get their hair cut at Castle Cuts in the future.

My stepdaughter normally has a bob haircut with bangs where it is a little shorter around the nape and then frames her face. I took her here to get the same haircut as usual and the crazy woman botched the back up so bad it looks like she took clippers to it. I didn't want a super angular haircut from the early 90's and that's what we got. I am still furious and am just waiting for it to grow out. This woman should go into yardwork if she wants to hack away for a profession and leave poor kids alone. I will NEVER go back here.

The stylist we went to completely botched my daughters beautiful long hair!! I went in there and told her that I want more of a summer cut, something like a shoulder length bob. She cut it so short that you cant even pull the back of it. It looks like a boys buzz cut. I was so upset I could have thrown up. My poor beautiful little girl looks like a little boy now. =( I don't recall her name, but she is the one with the long curly platinum blonde hair and glasses.

We've been going here for almost 5 years now. We particularly love Robin, the owner and she has cut my kid's hair for the most part. My kids really, really like her and I have one who has detested getting his hair cut. It was Robin who figured that it was the clippers that were the problem. So, they now cut his hair with a scissors. That seemingly SMALL detail describes the difference between this place and others in the area.

The staff is extremely personable ... and while it is not "new" - it is definitely worth utilizing.

I went to Kid's Castle Cuts for the first time just recently. My daughter is usually difficult when it comes to haircuts, but this stylist was simply amazing. She did such a good job with making my daughter feel comfortable and entertained. Unfortunately, I can not remember the stylists name that cut my daughters hair. She was younger and had shoulder length blond and dark hair. I will make sure that I ask for her when I come back and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for great haircut. My daughter had a great time and it was an overall excellent experience!!!

We've been going to Kid's Castle Cut for the last 5 years. I really like our stylist, Robin (owner). She does a great job with my daughter's hair. The other reviewers are right, the toys are not the cleanest. They could do a better job in throwing out old toys and getting new ones.

I've also been to Little Clippers, its a bit impersonal for me, but maybe that's because we've been to Kids Castle Cut for so long.

We need to send Tabitha from Bravo TV to do a make-over on the salon.

It's a hair salon for kids. It's not a spa for mommies. They do a GREAT job of cutting the kids hair - and they are very polite. The kids are happy to play. Their pricing is reasonable and did I mention the stylists are GREAT! They will even do walkins - and you won't have to wait too long.

Yes, for a location close to Washington Square, it does not look modern and "cool." However, to call it dirty I think is going waaay too far. This salon does the job, quick and professional. They don't get impatient, even if your kids are screaming and wiggling, (which most kids do when they get their hair cut) and most of the hairstylists will do a little style for free. I would say a professional place with lots of toys that your kids will love. And as a parent, I couldn't ask for more.

This would be a wonderful salon if there was one thing changed.

Kids and parents love to come, as they do a fabulous job cutting hair. Each time you come, if you get Teresa, she will learn the child's hair type and the way it grows. She does a fab job on both my kids, my girl has a A-Line hair cut and she has got it figured out with her, as my girl has difficult hair.

So, with that being said, the kids love to come because they have toys!!!! However, the toys are dirty. If they understood the important of maintaining the toys and keeping them sanitary it would be a four-star salon. I don't mean out of box clean, I am not expecting that, but honestly they are dirty and haven't been cleaned I don't think ever!

That's the only thing I dislike.

I took my son there for his first haircut at 10 months old. They did a fantastic job. They kept him occupied while they cut his hair, which is hard to do since he's very energetic. They were even able to use the clippers on him. They even gave us a certificate for his first hair cut with some of his hair attached. I'm definitely going to take him back.

We've been to Kid's Castle Cuts several times over the last few years but our most recent visit was our last. We made an appointment but had to wait a while before we were checked in then waited more than 1/2 hour past our appt. time. It didn't seem like any of the workers had a sense of urgency or a desire to provided good customer service. I didn't want my boys playing with the toys/games because everything was so dirty.

Luckily I found an alternative kids' salon called Little Clippers in Lake Oswego. It's only a few minutes away and SUPER CLEAN!!!

We have been going to this place for 2 years. We've never been particularly fond of it because it's dirty and kind of out of the way but kept going back because most of the stylists do an ok job and they have videos and toys to distract the kids.

The best part about prior experiences here was that the stylists would work around the kids movements, so if they turned their heads (as little kids will do), the stylist would roll with it and not berate the child.

Obviously the stylist we had today was not versed in that method because she was very stern and terse with my 4 year old, telling her to sit still, not move her head, jerking her head back into place, etc. So of course, 2 minutes of that sort of treatment had my daughter pouting and not wanting to cooperate. This is the first time that has EVER happened, she has always looked forward to haircuts and now I'm afraid this stylist's treatment of us has changed that.

The other thing that was flabbergasting about this experience was the stylist's attitude towards me and my sister. Every time we've been there, my daughter has always gotten a braid or french braid so I asked for that this time. Since it's never been an issue and they always do some kind of little "style" for the girls after their haircuts, I didn't think it was out of the question. This stylist went into a long diatribe about not being good at french braids, so I told her to forget it and we'd leave with just some sparkles.

This woman then got really defensive and said (in front of my daughter) "I'm sorry I can't do a french braid, but you don't have to be so mean to me."

Now, even if I was being mean (which I wasn't, as my sister can attest) there is absolutely no reason to say something like that in front of a child. To add insult to injury, when I took her aside to talk softly about it she raised her voice to the point that all the parents in the place were staring. My poor kids were so upset they clung to my legs. This woman should not be working with children.

I'm still just so floored by this experience I can't believe it. Her unprofessional behavior isn't the only reason we won't go back. When I was paying, the receptionist wouldn't even look at me and gave me a rude attitude (slamming the receipt down, etc.)

The only recourse I have at this point is to leave reviews that warns parents. Unfortunately, we didn't get the offending stylist's name, so that doesn't help any of you. But if you're going to go here, we have had good past experiences with Teresa and Robin, stick with them.

My son is 4 and we have gone here since his first haircut. The place is dirty and dark but we thought the stylists did a good job so we kept going back....but we won't go back again! Today we came in as a walk in...which usually means an hour wait...we had waited about 40 minutes and a lady came in with two kids...they told her her appt. was for Thursday not today but told her they would try to squeeze her in. At about the 1 hour of waiting mark the stylist that had this client booked for the next day decided to take her kids instead of us...completely rude, unacceptable and I was so made I could have screamed. We left and drove out to Hillsboro to pigtails & Crewcuts...what a differnce. The facility was beautiful and clean, the receptionist and stylist were super nice, my son got a GREAT headache and we only waited 10 minutes. Save your time in the waiting room and go here, it is located in the streets of Tanasbobourne so if you do have to wait you can shop and they will call you on your cell when they are ready. Over the top service!!!

We discovered Kids Castle about a year ago. My then 3 year old hated to have his hair cut and it was a huge battle for everyone to get him to sit still. Since we discovered this place it's not a battle anymore! He wants to go to the hair cut place with the toys!

He still doesn't like to get his hair cut, but all the stylists are very patient and have great distraction techniques. They are able to cut his hair even if he gets wiggly, which at another place they refused to continue to cut his hair when he started to wiggle. What 3 year old doesn't wiggle!

They also did my 2 year olds first cut and they gave him a cute little certificate and kept some hair for me.

I highly recommend this place! The stylists are great, the kids are love it, so mom is happy!

My three year old daughter doesn't sit still and let me play with her hair but when I took her here she sat and let the lady cut and play with her hair for the entire time! The lady was very patient and my daughter loved watching Cinderella while pretend driving the jeep she was sitting in. I have a two year old as well (who doesn't need her hair cut yet) that was entertained as well, because of the play area they have with tons of toys, a play house, play computers, etc. It was nice to be able to stay with my three year old and not have to chase my two year old around.

Whoever thought of this concept is a genius!! Kids Castle Cuts is the first, and only, place that has been a great experience everytime! My kids love going there and waiting isn't so hard for them because there are tons of toys to play with!! All the stylists are fantastic, great with kids, and know how to cut chilren's hair just right!! I will never go anywhere else (until my kids get too old to go there anymore!!)

I took my 16 month old daughter her to get her bangs trimmed. It was her first experience, and it was great. She enjoyed sitting in the car and looking in the mirror. The woman who cut her hair put her hair in piggy tails, and she looked so cute.
Well done, and definately a place I would go to again.

Even my under 2year old allows his hair to be cut here! The play area is fun and helps to relax kids, as well as serves as an incentive to get them to stays till for the cut!

PROS: ease of haircuts for kids

I was told about this place by my sister and here friend they both take there kids here. I took my 4 year old here and he loved it! He said it was like toy land.. lol..I hates to have his hair cut but did not seem to mind here. I was a great addition for them to have movies for the kids to watch while getting there hair cut and the cars and stuff very a very creative idea that seems to work very well! The staff is very nice and helpful and you can tell they really like there jobs! If you have kids this is the place to take them! Parking is fine. The price is a little high but I will pay it if my son is happy!

PROS: Nice haircuts kids love
CONS: Nothing

This is the kind of place you read about in magazines that is ideal to take your small children to for their haircuts. It's a fun place with a very patient staff that really works with the parents (especially if they have a nervous child) to be sure that they get the result they want.

Right when you walk in, there are TONS of toys to distract and entertain your children, including train sets and a pretend playhouse for those kids who need a little time to get familiar with the surroundings before getting their hair cut.

For the haircut itself, they get to sit in their choice of cars (my daughter loves the pink Barbie Jeep while my son likes the black sports car!). They have a huge library of videos to watch while they're in the chair and lots of toys lined up along the mirrors to hold in their hands.

Carla cuts both my children's hair and she is just wonderful with them. My daughter always gets braids and sparkles in her hair and she is amazingly patient with my little boy as he gets used to having his hair cut.
