I brought my daughter here on a last minute kind of thing, and I guess the saying is true "you get what you pay for". Rude, Rude, Rude is the best way to describe it. Toys were old, play equipment dirty...Not the best choice.

I see others are not happy with this place either...I did not feel that it was clean at all, or very friendly teachers (or whatever they consider themselves)...I will not be bringing my child back here, nor will I recommend to anyone! Definitely NOT a place to bring your Kids!!!!!!!!

My husband and I have no children of our own but became foster parents several years ago. The Gladstone YMCA was recommend to us by a good friend so we toured the facility and interviewed the staff. We were so impressed that we enrolled our children immediately.

Our experience has been better than we could have ever imagined! Not only did the staff take exellent care of our children...they took excellant care of us! As first time foster parents and first time parents, we needed a lot of support and encouragement and we found that at the YMCA. They were so patient, kind and loving, Julie, Amy and Becky are a large part the reason we are a success as foster parents!

We have enrolled all of our foster children at the Gladstone YMCA and would not consider going anywhere else. The curriculum is top-notch and the values taught are exactly what we want our children to learn. But best of all...we know our children are loved, nurtured and encouraged to the best they can be...what more can you ask for!

The Gladstone YMCA Child Care Center has been a wonderful addition for our family. We have been with them for 3 1/2 years when our first daughter started there at 3 months. I had another daughter 8 months ago and she also started school at Gladstone YMCA when she was 3 months. I also must say that the same teachers are caring for my 2nd child that cared for my 1st and that speaks volumes to me about the center and how the employees are treated.
It's always difficult to make that decision to leave your children with someone else while you go to work, but I knew they were in great hands. When researching the YMCA, they allowed me to come and visit multiple times with my daughter to get a feel for how things were run. I asked all the questions that I first time Mom would ask with no experience and they were happy to answer everything. There have been many times where the YMCA staff has been a resource about things going on with my children (when to start on solids, ear infections, suggestions/concerns about behaviors, potty training...). I have found them to be a "trusted advisor" to my family about mutiple issues and very open to speaking to us about any questions that we may have . Just recently I made a suggestion to potentially allow more communication from the teachers to the parents and they will be implementing it into their daily routines.
It breaks my heart to hear and read about people who perceive such a negative view of the Gladstone YMCA Child Care center because we have had such a wonderful experience. My children have so much fun playing and learning that I never hear that they "don't want to go to school". My children have become their children and that is exactly who I want to be caring for them.
I would highly recommend the Gladstone YMCA Child Care Center if you are in search of a day care provider!

Being a single mon of 2 young children it is hard to leave your children with someone let alone in a facility. When I came across the Gladstone YMCA immediatly when i walked in it was a great "homey" type of feeling. The staff quickly greeted me and got down to my children's level. Rite then I knew that I had "THE" place. My son has been in the center now for 3 years and my daughter almost a year. Both started at 6weeks. And let me tell you my family couldn't be happier, my children have flourished in love, happiness, and knowledge. They also have a great social circle of friends-which to them and me couldn't be more important. It is such a great feeling when you drop your child or children off with no tears and pick them up with huge smiles and excitement of what happened in their day.
To all parents reading this I strongly recommend this child care facility.

My experience was horrible...The Daycare provider looked like she had been on "something", and up for 2 days straight...She was on the phone for about 5 minutes before she decided to help me...and then when she did, she looked like she was in another world!! I guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I got an awful feeling being there...At this point though, I had no other babysitter...The facility looked fairly clean, but didn't smell very well...I had to pry my son off of my leg to get him to stay, which I never have to do when other kids are around...When the teacher asked him if he wanted to go play he started screaming and crying...She kind of scared me too!! I don't think the teacher/babysitter had any kind of experience what so ever with children...A warning to all of you parents...I wouldn't suggest taking your kids there...I certainly will not ever again!!

Most of the teachers and staff at the YMCA are fabulous! THey have been working with the children getting then to read and write. They are working on sharing and expressing feelings. They even help with potty training. The only thing I would change is to add more teachers so the kids have more one on one contact with the teachers.
