My sister and I stayed at the Ashley Inn for two nights in August. On our first night, we were watching t.v. and someone entered our room with another key card. We jumped up to see who it was and the person let the door close and then we watched him open up the room across the hall. We immediately called the front desk and were told "we would look into the problem". However, I wasn't happy with that answer so I went down to the front desk and talked to the staff. I was told that the room the other guest was staying in hadn't been working for a while so that guest was always given a "g-card", meaning a general card, or master key. I was SHOCKED. I said this wasn't safe and it wasn't okay. I was uncomfortable with the entire situation and was only told "I don't think it will happen again" and "he doesn't know he has a g-card". I was told to dead-bolt the door and if we wanted to lock up any valuables at the front desk when we were out of the room, we could do so. I explained that I was concerned with a random guest (complete stranger) having access to my room and every other room in the hotel. I was speechless and very unhappy. Other hotels in town were booked for the following night and although we could have driven home, we stuck around for the second night (bad idea, in my opinion).

Following my trip, I sent an email to the manager listed on the website directly, and within 10 minutes of my email, I received a reply. However, the reply had mistakes in his story (calling the front desk a he, for one) and the manager ignored the bigger issue of the problem (safety). Also, the email had so many spelling/grammatical errors, where it looked like it was written in 3 minutes and just sent (which is fine except I figured this was a big issue that they should be more concerned with). I was not happy with the response I received at all and replied to the email stating my opinion.

Due to this situation, I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We just returned from a weekend at the Ashley Inn, and I can't wait to return. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating, with a liberal pet policy, and great ammennities. The warm cookies at check in was just one of several nice touches in this motel, with has lots of small luxurious touches. The King Bed Spa suite was reasonably priced, but included down comforters, marble countertops, cascading shower heads, lots of room, and a beautifully redecorated interiors.

When renting a 2 room suite, be sure to double check that there are windows/fans in both rooms. The first room we checked into (a kitchen suite) only had a window in the master, and the front room got stuffy quick. We moved to a n King Spa (2 room) suite the next day, and it had better ventillation.. They also have a video library of over 200 recent titles to choose from, a salt water indoor pool, spa, and sauna. The continental breakfast was fairly complete, with two choices of cereal (both too sweet) bagels, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, yogurt and fresh fruit available every morning. This has become common place with most motels, and there's was no better or worse than others I've experienced.

Steve leads an incredibly friendly staff, who make you feel at home immediately. They accommodated our dog, and even provided a pet excersize area for our convenience.

No, it's not ocean front, but what it lacks in view it makes up for with a friendly staff and luxurious perks. Give it a try next time you visit Lincoln City.

Ashley Inn and Suites was a decent hotel to stay if you are looking for a weekend trip to the coast. Rooms were big, clean, and nicely decorated. They have a large indoor pool which is always a nice thing to have with kids. It was slightly cheaper then some of the others in the area. They offered continental breakfast, and had cookies in the afternoon. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

PROS: A decent place to stay.
CONS: Not as luxurious as the brochure pictured.
