I visited this business recently and witnessed the worst customer service I have ever seen. A customer returned a hair product (with receipt and original packing). A employee loudly and rudly yelled that she would take the product back "this time" but she wasn't happy about it. The customer calmly said" you know me, I shop here all the time and this is the first time I have every returned anything." The employee responded that she did not care to which the customer, again very calmly and softly said "oh no, you don't treat customers like that, that is rude." The employee then gave a rude hand gesture dismissing the customer and walked away. I was shocked at such a lack of common courtesy. I also witnessed employees following customers around as though they were going to steal products. In general, the experience left me angry and wondering why folks would spend hard earned money at a business that treats customers, at least folks of color, with such disrespect. There are other options. I have talked with several other folks and their experience at Living Color has been the same. Spend your money where you are appreciated or at the very least where you are treated as a person! Note: I looked for a sign saying that there were no returns accepted. I did not see such a sign at the register. As I continued to look, I finally noticed a sign that was "behind" products that stated that policy. If that is the store policy, the sign should be clearly displayed at the point of sale.

Horrible place to shop! I was sold hair that I was told was exactly what I was looking for and when I got it home I discovered that it was the same length of my real hair. When I went to get the correct size the owner said "No she wouldn't take it back because the package was open" The sales person was the one who opened it!! When I told her I was going to complain to the Better Business Bureau she said "Do it" So I did and will tell everyone I can think of never to use this place!! Use the Beauty Supply place one block down!

How many black people that has patronized this business has been subjected to discrimination and treated as if you are a thief? Are followed throughout the store as if they are anticipating that you will steal their products. Were any of you refused to be able to examine hair products for its quality, because the store owners told you that you can't afford to buy the product. Were any of you was ordered to leave the store when you wanted to know more about what you were buying? Did anyone fell that instead of leaving the store feeling beautiful (the reason for patronizing a beauty supply store), you left feeling ugly and rejected by the owners? Or felt that being black that you can be treated with disrespect and contempt by any business or person, like the people at Living Color made me feel. As black people we don't have many selections of beauty supply businesses that meets are beauty needs - so must we tolerate this kind of treatment? I feel our hard earned dollars must be spent in businesses that don't treat black people in the ways Living Color practices. I wish for a boycott of this business until they understand our patronage must be valued!

LOVED this shop! My hairdresser told me about this place because I was trying to find clip-in extensions reasonably priced. I bought 100% human hair for half the price I found on the internet! Was very pleased with the service as well! Very nice employees who actually helped me save money!! Check them out for sure! Also a nice pizza place next door.

Best supply of ethnic hair products, friendly helpful staff. This is the place for all types of weaving and braiding hair. This store has the best instruments to use to achieve the look you want. There are very few stores in this area that have the variety of ethnic products found here. The prices are ok considering the quality of the products.

This is my favorite beauty supply store on the corner of MLK and Alberta. Parking is right next door and a short walk to the front door. The store is cram packed with great beauty products and that's what I like more than anything. This shop caters to every type of person out there, white, black, hispanic, etc. This is the only shop I have found hair fit for caucasians as well as everyone else. The staff are very friendly and just when you think they don't have something, ask and they will help a person out. The wigs section is taped off so children can't go back there and make a mess of things, but it is available, just ask the clerks and they'll let you back there. This store is always kept very clean and it's comfortable. There aren't any people hanging out on the street corner trying to sell stuff like they are at the Mid K up the street and it's across the street from Adidas. Whenever I need something quick and don't feel like going to major retail stores looking for something, all I do is go up to Living Color and get what I need, the prices are very reasonable too.

PROS: Parking, low prices, friendly staff, clean
CONS:

this shop has everything you could ever want for your hair. They specialize in selling ethic hair products, but you can find anything . Hair bands, barettes, hair oils, sheens, lotions, you name it. Plus they sell other little knick knacks like jewelry and hats. You can also buy hair for weaves, synthetic and real, as well as equipment for straightening, curling, whatever. I swear, if you go in there, you won't leave without buying something!

PROS: really good prices, large variety
CONS: not a chain, and one of very few stores in ethnic products
