You have to be a really smart, careful shopper because they sell a combination of new and used equipment.

Prices on new gear are, in all honesty, not great, albeit fair. Laying next to a used piece of equipment, a new piece of equipment while shiny, can have a price tag of twice that of the used equipment.

This is not to say that all of the used gear is as good as the new stuff. You have to be lucky in order to find what you're looking for, and if you can't find it, there's the risk of feeling frustrated and impulsively buying a new piece of gear instead...and you might end up spending more than you would elsewhere.

Even so, the used equipment is typically of good quality, and can allow one to try out sports that might otherwise be too expensive to get into...like hockey ($20 for a pair of clean but used breezers instead of $60 for a new pair, for example).
