Beware of FAKE REVIEWS that these guys post for themselves on several review sites.
What a nightmare. When my transmission died, they screwed up the repair- badly.

They installed the new parts incorrectly, and declared it fixed. I picked up my car and in a few weeks it was dead again. Thank goodness there was a warranty, right??

Tom didn't admit to the error. Instead he said that the new parts messed up other parts, and it would be done in a week. I waited two weeks then called to check on status. This was when I started getting a gut feeling that I was dealing with unstable people. Simple phone calls regarding status just felt creepy. This dumb dance started where every week Tom gave me an excuse why the work wasn't done as promised. Then he gave me a new promise of when it would be done-you know- for real this time.
I knew I was being lied to. But what could I do? He already had my money. I didn't have another $2200 bucks, and at this point I worried about him doing something retaliatory to my car if I complained too much.
Every time I called, they acted like they had no idea who I was for the first half of the conversation. Then as soon as I said anything about how long it had been, they suddenly remembered that they had done so many "favors" for me.
Other times my phone calls would go un-returned, but they swore they did call me. Obviously my call history was defective just for their phone numbers.
After almost two months and still no vehicle, I had to look at legal options that I could NOT afford.
I talked with Oregon Consumer Affairs, plus some friends and other auto shops. I came across a good lawyer out of pure luck and a cool co-worker.
An inspection of Tom's work showed that Tri-County installed the parts wrong and ruined them. The car needed a whole new transmission rebuild. My lawyer had to threaten to sue for everything under the sun to get Tom to agree to pay for the repair and warranty from a capable mechanic.

The best part is that Tom completely freaked out on me and my husband, as if we somehow hurt him. I don't even understand that. I paid him a real $2200 bucks. I didn't give him fake money. Or money that disappeared after a couple weeks.

But here he was screaming at us, like he was somehow the one getting screwed. I just stood there baffled while he worked himself into a rage. I have no idea what kind of mental gymnastics this anger-management drop-out did to convince himself that a paying customer deserved his abuse and lies... (or that a paying customer did not not deserve the promised repair.)

When your transmission dies, you expect it to be expensive and inconvenient. You don't expect months of drama and to be at the mercy of the Jerry Springer cut list.

Tom says you have a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty. Try to get them to warranty work. It is almost impossible. The place is a scam.

The guys at Tri county are excellent! From the first time I spoke with Robert it was 5 days until we both had the time for them to take my Plymouth Voyager in. For major transmission work. Robert knew right away what the issue was and I felt he was very honest about what it was going to take to fix it. He was more than fair and understanding of my situation. When you are a Mom w/ 4 kiddos and work full time you need your vehicle! He had my van in and out in 24 hours (with a free rental truck). I didn't have to rearrange my plans or miss any work. This shop is quick, honest and easy to work with. I recommend Tri County Transmission to anyone who needs good work done in a timely manner!! \nThanks Tri County

Was referred to this business by a friend. I'm am EXTREMELY SORRY I didn't pass them up and go to my other option.\n\nLike penguinluff (immediately below), this was about as bad a car repair experience as I have ever had. My experience was simply horrible. The communication abilities of the staff don't exist, and I had to take the vehicle back 3 times to get the work done and this episode stretched over 4 weeks. Not only that, but after the ordeal followed through to it's [supposed] conclusion, guess what? the transmission STILL LEAKED! So, as I write, I can't honestly say 'mission complete'. After $1400 I still have at least one of the problems for which I took the car in initially. \n\nTimely: No (they had my car over a week before an initial diagnosis)\nCommunicates issue/problems with customer: No. (in fact, with only 1 exception, I had to call them to check on the status of the work - this was easily 4 or 5 times)\nGets issue resolved first attempt: No.\nOn / Under Estimate: Maybe - but it is so damn difficult to get them to give you a clear understanding of the problem and options to repair, it is almost impossible to know if you're getting screwed or not.\n\nAlso, be aware that people from his staff likely lurk here and post bogus 5 star reviews of themselves. Tom Weedman was the legal owner of the shop until the beginning of this year. One of his sons and another guy have assumed control/ownership (Robert and Mason).\nYou can find reviews by Tom Weedman of his own shop! How disingenuous.\n\nBottom line: **** STAY AWAY****\n\n\nUpdate 4/19/2012: I will add some further information regarding the review I posted earlier. A couple points warrant mention here:\n\n1). I contacted BBB re: these guys, and not to my surprise, they have some outstanding issues logged by customers -- apparently yet to be resolved. I too, filed one.\n\n2). I pulled the transmission pan (on the used transmission) they installed into my vehicle, and found it was the source of the leak. The pan was badly dimpled around the bolt holes -- thereby creating even greater gaps in the mating surfaces between transmission pan and bottom of transmission. Secondly, they used red RTV to seal the cardboard-type gasket, but, in places it never set properly. So, I wiped off a bunch of gooey (undried) gasket sealant that was at least part of the problem. Also, the transmission was never filled to capacity or had leaked so much, that it was nearly impossible to gauge exactly how much was initially in before the problem manifested itself.\n\n3). Finally, when I initially took my vehicle in they looked at it at least a few times and even after the actual transmission replacement they consistently overlooked/forgot to mention/etc that I had a broken CV axle boot and it had likely incurred damage to the axle itself. I replaced the axle myself. At the very least, you'd think that they would offer a 'Service Recommendation' as most professional shops often do.\n\nIs this the work of experienced mechanics? Hell no. \nStay away from these clowns.

On June 2, 2011 my 80 year old grandparents went into this establishment and contracted with \nthem to have their transmission on their 1999 Mercury Sable rebuilt. With that service they acquired a two year unlimited warranty.\n\nShortly thereafter, probably mid-June, they took their car back due to a transmission leak. They were told at the time that there was, in fact, no leak. This was fallacious, and they knew that they were being lied to as they had checked the fluid levels prior to taking the vehicle in and the levels were low. They were told that they were actually full and that the leak was generating from the engine.\n\nThey took their car in a second time in July, as the vehicle was still leaking. They were informed at the time that it was the power steering fluid, and that the shop had 'filled that up' for them, when in fact, with my grandparents watching the entire affair, they had done no such thing.\n\nThe third time they took their car in was Monday, August 29, 2011. The leak had become drastically worse at this point, and the shop finally conceded that there was a transmission leak, and that their other diagnoses had been incorrect. The car, at this point, was virtually unusable due to the fact that the leak had worsened over the months that the shop had refused to believe that it was a transmission leak. They told my grandparents that the earliest time that they would be able to take a look at it would be Tuesday, September 6th.\n\nAugust 31st, 2011, my grandfather called back to inform them that Tuesday would be too late. The car was badly hemorrhaging fluids and their garage floor was covered, even when the car was not in use. The owner of the shop, Tom Weedman, told my grandfather that was his problem until Tuesday.September 1st my husband and I went into the shop to speak with someone about the poor customer service that my grandparents had received. During the conversation with Mr. Weedman he told me to shut up, and told me several lies including that my grandparents had only been in once and that he agreed that there was a leak, but that it wasn't fixable at the time, and that he had been cordial with my grandfather over the phone. (Which he had not been, I heard the entire conversation.) \n\nMr. Weedman is a generally condescending, age-biased individual. More than once he said to me that my opinion did not matter due to the fact that he was 'at least twice' my age, and that the fact that he has 'done quite well' for himself in his business made him superior to me. Last time I checked, age and money don't make a person superior. He also implied that I was not possessed of full mental faculties. He made me very uncomfortable with his aggressive manner and unnecessary invasion of my personal space

Tri County did a great job on my transmission so I started using them for all my car's maintenance too. I wish I had been going to them all along because now I realize how much I was being overcharged at my old garage. \n\nI also like how at Tri County, Robert explains everything to me about what is going on with my car. He is patient with my million questions and treats me like a human instead of a ""dumb woman"" (which is how they treated me at my last place).\n\nThanks Tri County!!\n\n

I had been taking my car to a garage near where I live and I was paying over $150 every time I went there, because I didn't know anything about cars and didn't realize I was being cheated by them. Even for something routine like an oil change, this garage was finding other phantom things to charge me for. Then I had a transmission problem and took my car to Tri County Transmissions. They did a great job, did free follow ups for my transmission, and I liked them so I started using them for my regular maintenance too. Now it has been two years and I'm soooo glad I switched over to them. I have saved thousands of dollars on maintenance!! Oil change? $40 instead of $150!! I am sorry I used that other cheating-garage for so long.

The clutch in my 95 Jetta was toasted. They came with a flatbed to my house and picked my car up. They had it done the same day at a VERY reasonable price and i've had no issues since i got it back. The people that work there were very friendly as well... I'd recommend this shop to anybody that is having issues with their trans or clutch!

Dorsa Warr (the person writing this review that I?m responding to) is not my customer, her granddaughter is and I never met her until she came into my office demanding I pay for insurance on a rental car. I had been dealing with her granddaughters husband, boyfriend? Henry and we had no problems accept he wanted me to call him every day due to pressure from his girlfriend, wife's grandmother asking him for updates and pressuring him. We had the vehicle for more time that expected but got the job done and got it back to them. The transmission had some shifting issues still and I found there was a minor hydraulic leak inside transmission that had to be worked on for a second time. I told Henry I would have the vehicle for some time due to the scheduling in the shop. He wanted a rental car. I told him no problem, I even got him a larger car due to her moving kids around. They signed up for Insurance on their rental which was an extra 380. Henry and I discussed this he said no problem he would take care of it. I paid for all of the rental car and 100 of the insurance due to the fact that there was so much frustration from the customer. We paid over 500 in rental fees and insure to make sure this customer had a vehicle while I had to do warranty work. I work on several vehicles every week and it is hard to call everyone every day. I did get the job done and I paid for the rental car. I did everything I could to try to keep this customer happy beside's pay for insurance on a rental car that was already agreed upon would be taken care of by Henry (I have a written agreement with this information on it). I got the vehicle done on a weekend and was even willing to come down on a Saturday afternoon to have them pick up the car. There was a communication problem from my other shop of where the vehicle was so I made sure it was available the next day. I don?t know how much more I could have done for this customer. \r\n My name is Robert (the new owner) I'm fair and reasonable. I pride myself on the workman ship of the services my shop provides and I will always honor my warranty. I'm sorry this customer was dissatisfied with the warranty work time but I did all I could to try to keep them happy. There are some people that will not be satisfied no matter how extreme the action taken to help them out.\r\n

What can you say about an outfit like these yay hoos?\nNov.2010 had a bad trans Took it in and like you others have stated.. no return calls!\nI called daily and they promised daily to call back.they DIDN?T .Dont we call that lies? Two weeks went by and the car was not moved.\n After numerous visits and tons of calls, got the car back. paid 2900 for their abuse\nIn a 3 weeks the trans went bad again. Surprised?? NO we weren?t either,\nCalled- too busy-wait a week .-took it in -same old crap- no calls- no work. Even said we had to wait for ? paying customers? work to be done!\nFinally -called - said it was ready- Fri night- of course, When I got there -no car! they didn?t know where it was or?CARE!\nThey closed and left..\nAfter I left numerous messages finally I decided to report it stolen-they got that message! AND called back. Amazingly they had found the car!!.\nSecond time around.-they told us to rent a car and they would cover the cost. I made them put that in writing or I would be out that money well . Yep - You got it- that check to me for the rental BOUNCED.!\n2 more weeks to reconcile that mess and numerous trips to his bank and mine.\nWhat a bunch of unbelievable people. Tom is as dishonest as the kid. \nTerm - Power trip comes to mind.\nDo yourself a favor and find someone who cares. If you give them your keys .you?re in trouble.\nTheir long yrs in business must have been the grandpa?s reputation.Surely not these guys.\nthis trans will fail too.No doubt.

Oh, and they WRITE THEIR OWN five-star reviews. Need proof? Just check 3/22/06, written by the owner posing as a customer. The info is right there for you. Sadly, you probably won't see this review until you've had a problem and done some research on them. I'm sorry.

We bought a car from a local used car lot, who told us they bought the car from a friend that ran tri-county transmissions and it had a new transmission in it (put in by tri-county, although considering he was a car salesman, he was probably lying about this).... 50 miles off the lot the transmission went into fail safe mode... so the dealer sent us to his friends at tri-county transmissions, and after a lot of BS agreed to pay all but 500 of a transmission rebuild. And this fact apparently made us not real customers in Robert's(owners son who runs the shop) eyes. They have had our car for over a month now. We still do not have it. They originally told us it would be 5 days. For the past two weeks Robert has been telling me it will be done tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Robert told me it is taking so long because they have to do jobs first for their real customers. I have had to speak with the owner(Tom) twice now, who has been great. He spoke with the dealership for me and came up with the deal, and i spoke with him on monday and he assured me the car will be done by friday at the latest, probably tuesday or wednesday. It is wednesday and i just spoke with Robert and its the same story. It will probably be done friday, but no sooner. We had this car for only two days after buying it, and now must make our first payment and insurance for nothing. We both had to take time off from work because of this ""it will be done tomorrow"" BS, and i lost my job because of it. The car is not even where we dropped it off. They said they moved it to another shop. Starting to think they chopped it lol. Anyways, no problems with the owner as he has not lied to me throughout the process. But the two other employees i talked to (Robert and Mason) contradict themselves every other word. My experience, along with other negative reviews, along with the owner faking the first review(?), would lead me to NOT recommend this transmission shop to anybody. \r\n\r\n\r\nUPDATE: Got the car back last week. The next day the car wouldnt start because they left the ground to the block loose... and today the transmission went into fail safe mode AGAIN after they supposedly rebuilt transmission, replaced valve body and TCM. Took it to a trusted transmission shop, watched them take the pan off... a lot of metal particles in the pan (less than 200 miles since supposed rebuild) They said they put on all new solenoids but only two are new.... and more just went out

These people are horrible! Quoted me one price then when they said it was done (2 months later mind you) it was way more then they said it would be. And after Driving for ONLY one day it broke again! Then they said it was something else wrong and wanted more money. I took my car to AAmco instead and they told me the trans was still all messed up and fixed it right. NOT HAPPY and will never trust Tri County Trans again!

First, this person is not a customers of ours and never has been a customer. We purchased this vehicle from her brother who didn't switch the title to his name before selling it to me. I never spoke to her before the saturday that she called me, she stared the converstion off with agressive language demanding money. At that time I told her that I didn't konw her but she could call my shop monday morning to get to the bottom of the problem. She never called to follow up. I was never rude just perfesional in handling the matter. \r\n\r\nWe have been in buisness for over 25 years, and have always tried to handle our affairs in a professional manner.

I had sold my pickup to Tri Co. About a month later I get a notice from the Clackamas Co Sheriff that this pickup got ticketed on thier lot. I took this ticket to Tri Co and they said no problem we will take care of it. My big mistake I trusted them. A month later I get another notice from Valley Credit Services. Saying that the ticket did not get paid and I owe even more. I was fuming. I called Tri Co and Tom answered the owner. He was rude, blew me off and could not understand why I was so upset. This was a Saturday. He said he would not talk to me about this until Monday. I thought he was very unprofessional and very very RUDE!!! I called Clackamas Sheriffs Office on Monday. I talked with someone who was Extremely helpful. If I had a transmission I needed repair I would not give my business to Tri CO. Owner TOM...

I had to have my transmission done on our car all the other shops in the area wanted to charge us hundreds of dollars more to do the repair and were going to take weeks to be able to even get to my car. As it was our only car that was not acceptable Tri-county was able to get to it right away and they charged less than the other shops in the area. Thanks for getting my car on the road again!

We have been taking all of our cars to them for over 5 yrs now. They always get my cars done in a timely matter , they go over and beyond by checking everything is running properly before they even let me know my car is done. They make me feel safe knowing that my car is safe for me and my kids.

Check out my other reviews to see the begining of this story. As Tri County has posted a new link because of all the bad reviews on the old one. Check out thier other listing on here. Labeled without the ""European"". Maybe instead of relisting your company, try running a decent business! Just a thought.\r\n\r\nMy Story: Part 2:\r\n\r\nWhen they finally finished I was told that I owed $2600!!! I was also told that they did a COMPLETE rebuild. Meaning all the parts right?? So I thought. I pick it up drive away to work. Drives fine. Driving home from work....36 miles later after picking the car up....Tranny starts doing the EXACT SAME THING AS BEFORE. Called Tom. He said it was a valve that they didn't replace, and that they would fix it. Fine. I set up another appointment. Dropped of the car. Waited two weeks. Got a bill for $250 for the valve they didn't replace the first time. So now up to $2850! Drive around for two days...77miles later and the tranny COMPLETELY goes out leaving my car dead on the street. I was able to get it to said friends house where i was able to park it. Can you imagine my frustration by now?? So I ask said friend if she can handle this Tri County Transmission thing for me as I can only take so much and I might have hurt someone. She did....I'm happy to say that they gave Her the run around too. I'm happy because its not just me they were treating like complete crap....its everyone! Waited week and a half to two weeks. Was told yet another part was bad that they didn't replace. I'm starting to wonder if I'm their first customer and that they have never worked on a transmission...EVER! Got it back finally. Drove great for a couple weeks.....Then guess what?? Started doing the same thing as when i first brought it to them. Hard shifting, Slipping, and sometimes not shifting at all. CAR SOLD FOR LOSS....THANKS TRI COUNTY TRANSMISSION!!!! YOUR THE BEST!! <<<< Sarcasm.

When my tranny went to tranny heaven and my car was not ready to give up, I called several ""Transmission Shops"" to get an estamate. I got the nice price and all the sales poop to make you real sick. The owner of Tri-County Trans took my call and spent time giving me a mini education on trannys and asked me to bring the car over for a free check. Long story short they are busy and beat the prices quoted me by the big shops.\nThese guys are good and I'm happy!
