I will not return to this bead store. The woman behind the counter was very rude to me. It felt like helping a customer was more of a hassle than a job duty. Also the bead selection was mediocre.

I used to be a loyal Dava shopper but twice now I've been in their store (and I only visit about 4 times a year) and heard the owner, not the employees, being outrageously rude to customers. For the most part I've noticed that she just outright ignores customers but if the employees do not demonstrate good customer service she sure does not set a good example for them to follow. I must say that the Hillsdale location (now closed) had a small, friendly, helpful group of women and I stopped there very frequently. If their prices were great (and they are not) I might be tempted to shop there but I was in their store today and again the owner was exhibiting rudeness to shoppers. She's never been rude to me but customer service either makes or breaks my loyalty. I'm sad to say they are now on my 'never' list.

I absolutely love Dava. I stopped in recently to see if anyone could help me make my wedding jewelry. I've never made jewelry before and was a bit taken back by the options I have. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and walked me through the store to show me the different sections. We all agreed that I might need to take a class to accomplish what I want to. So, I signed up and can't wait to start!! Yay Dava~! Thanks for being so nice!!!

I have been shopping at Dava forever and I find that in general the ladies working there are always ready to help you. If they are busy it is harder to get one on one, but most of the time they are willing to answer any question and show me how to do things that I might not know how. The prices may be a little higher, but I have to say, in this economy I'm not surprised, I am just happy to support a local business that helps support my creativity. I love Dava and don't know what half the people on here are talking about with their negative experiences. But, maybe the people who are unhappy just really want to complain and the people that are happy don't think about leaving reviews. I say Dava is worth the prices and they have a unique selection.

Been to a great deal of bead shops in many cities and tried this one, Dava on Broadway. The selection of beads was good, the prices much too high. Nonetheless, I would have returned for small items from time to time had I not experienced rudeness from the employees. Looking at previous reviews, I see I am not the only one. These people were too busy talking with each other, playing with their cell phones and when reminded that I had been waiting for help, they rudely replied they were busy. Over priced is one thing I can work with but rudeness is not going to be tolerated. The result, I found a remarkable bead store near enough on Hawthorne. Dava is now out of the picture.

I have just discovered Dava Bead and I am very happy that I did. They have recently moved to this new location that is close to my home. The staff is very friendly, and helpful to those of us that need a little direction. I was given papers with instructions, and demonstrations as well. I happened in on a "Trunk Show" day and acquired enough beautiful pearls to take care of my Christmas gifts, at prices that were very low. I recommend anyone that loves to bead go to Dava.

I've been to Dava Bead at least a dozen times- I now save my big bead purchases for the bead shows b/c D.B. prices are pretty high. The northeast D.B. is smaller but the staff is very helpful and friendly- unfortunately, the Hillsdale D.B. is a consistent let down with customer service- they do not greet you when you walk in, they hardly ask if you need help and they are often preoccupied talking to other employees/customers when you want to check out. I've complained to management and I don't often do that. The selection is pretty neat, they've got a lot of great things- but do the math yourself... go to the bead show and compare prices there to D.B.- most times I find D.B. has doubled or tripled the price. It's fine for small, specialized purchases, but the apathetic customer service and steep prices keep me away most the time. This seems to be a common problem- read the reviews of others... you'll see.

I've been beading off and on for 10 years, and shop at both Dava's West and East side locations. I find the staff very helpful, and knowledgeable. They listen carefully and try to fill customer needs. I have had a few 'bead' problems, and they offered good solutions. I don't know what these other reveiwers are complaining about. It is impossible to please all people, and customers should be try aware of the overhead costs of running a store front; rent, advertising, and wages. It is important to support local businesses. Do people realize that probably 80% of product sold on Ebay is stolen?

I am new to beading and a friend suggested Dava Bead. I stopped in and was blown away. Not only was the selection amazing, the women working were so helpful! They had free fliers showing me all the techniques I'd need to accomplish a necklace or a bracelet. I can't wait to start making gifts for for the holidays!

The selection is nice, but hardly worth the insulting prices they demand.
(.10 for one crimp bead to start with)
I like to support local business but my recent experience there reminds me that ebay is a very tempting alternative. Sorry Dava...you blew it!

I have encountered too many rude employees to count at this bead store. I cannot believe the audacity of the store clerks, openly talking about customers in derogatory ways, unable to do simple math---I have been overcharged on several occasions, and have had to explain their errors to them as if I was speaking to a child. I have been making jewelry for 18 years, and I have never encountered a store that is so poorly run by such poor employees.

I make a lot of Jewelry and often need supplies for a project I'm working on. Dava Bead and Trade is about a block from my house and I'd rather spend the gas money and drive to a bead shop across town. Nearly everything they sell, can be found somewhere else for about a third less. Not only are they way over priced, they are also not very helpful or polite.

I just moved to OR, so this was my first time in Dava Beads. The bead shop I am used to was cluttered and the lady owning the place talked forever, so you would be in there longer then hoped for!! Here the employees let me do my own thing and didnt bombard me when I walked through the door- but they are still knowledgable and helpful when needed. A great layout and good selection. A nice variety of classes to choose from as well.

Dava Bead is a small shop in Hillsdale right across from the shoping center. You can purchase beads, jewelry and accessories. You can do it yourself or get instruction. You can take classes and make your class selection from their catalogue. They have a purcahse plan where you can get credit for purchases and receive credit. toward future purchase. There is a parking lot in front of store. Staff is friendly and available most of the time. You may have to wait during busy times.

PROS: location
