I perceive Hillside to be reasonable and skilled. I would love it if they did tire rotations/balancings and wish their oil changes weren't as costly as they are. I appreciate the wine when spending over $1000!
Hillside Imports does better work than the VW dealerships and at cheaper prices. Rene is friendly and professional. I am so thankful to not have to take my car back to the VW dealership!
My teenage son's VW broke down and Hillside was there to pick up the car within a half hour. Although it took another 24 hours to get a call back as to the nature of the problem and an estimate of the cost, I was very pleased with the service and afforability, as well as their technical knowledge. I would recommend them to anyone needing service on their VW.
Pros: Efficient, friendly, knowledgable, affordable
Cons: Took 24 hours to call me back with nature of problem/cost
Im a repeat customer and always will be, I have a 2001 Jetta and Hillside Imports knows what they are doing and they dont pressure you into un-needed repairs. Renne in the Service Department is knowledgeable and helped me save alot of money on my repairs. I will continue to use their services and reccemend all friends and family. Skip the dealer and come straight to these guys, they really do know their stuff!
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Location
I went in to buy a new set of keys for my 2001 VW GTI VR6. First of all they were at least $100 cheaper than any dealership. Second, my key was busted, not the remote and Rene told me that I could just buy the key and keep my original remote which saved me $70. And lastly, after everything was said and done, I got in my car to leave and realized they had vacuumed my car, it seemed like they dusted a bit, they neatly placed some candies on the center console, and get this, they even greased my squeeky door hinge. This blew me away. \r

Quality, honest, family owned shops are scarce now a days. It is definitely the little things that count and that you remember. All in all a master key and the metal key part of the remote key only cost me $155 including programing. I am definitely sold on this place. Be seeing you guys soon
Pros: Honesty, quality, they go above and beyond
Cons: 30 mins away from me
It was brought to my attention after going to other places and not being satisfied with customer service and turn around time that I should try Hillside. A friend of mine is into showing cars and also has a nice collection himself. \r
Now going on ten years and currently owning 6 VW's I cannot say enough or brag about this Company Hillside enough. I take a few extra business cards with me every time I have a oil change or repair work done and hand them out to other enthusiasts or even people I know that are VAG followers (VW Audi Group). \r
Hillside is passionate about what they do and I have also noticed that they sponsor many local car shows which is great for our VW/Audi enthusiasts crowd.\r
They have offered me a loaner car in the past and also have offered to give me a ride to work or home.\r
They are honest and upfront and Rene the owner is a VW/Audi enthusiast himself which is a bonus.\r
I would never go back to the other shops or dealerships (Stealerships) because of how they run their business.\r
Not too many family owned and operated places like this exist anymore and I appreciate honesty and commitment.\r
Thanks again for saving me money and being true to your customers. Cant say enough good things about you guys and gal.
Pros: Really nice people and no B.S.
I have two VW's, a 1983 GTI and a 1996 Jetta. I have taken both of them to Hillside Imports for many years now, conducting business with Rene and his father also. In all the times I have gone in for routine maintenance as well as upgrades, I have never felt overcharged or ripped off. Very honest shop and knowledgable about what needs to be done versus what can wait to be done.\r
I can't believe the reviews on here, because someone questions a long hold time then they give the shop a bad review. Every person out there has a different way of speaking to people. To base an entire review on one phone call is ridiculous.\r
Try the shop before you judge and write a review. Granted they are a busy shop, sometimes it takes a few days to get my cars in. Busy shops mean people are bringing their cars back for repeat business. I will continue to use them exclusively for my VW's.
Pros: Honest, Knowledgeable, ride to work from shop
Cons: long wait times to get cars in sometimes
I had a very disappointing experience with Hillside Motors. Their owner was extremely rude and aggressive when I politely asked why I was on hold for so long (20 minutes) after repeatedly not being able to speak with an employee during normal business hours.
Cons: Rude people
We took our newly purchased, used Golf TDI for an inspection and Rene was very thurough and helpful with confirming our hopes that our new purchase was a good one.\r
They did find one little thing wrong (thermostat) and recommended an oil change. \r
\r
The prices are more than reasonable and we left confident we had made the right choice for the car and the best place to do the inspection and service. \r
\r
We will most certainly be taking the car back for any future services it needs, including the regular oil changes because like every person should know, YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO JIFFY LUBE! :)
Pros: Close to our house, parking is great! Service is great.
Cons: No cons.
I've been going to Hillside Imports since I moved to Portland 4 years ago. They specialize in VW and Audi & really know what they're talking about. I've taken an A6, Jetta and will take my A4 when my warranty expires in a few months. They've been very honest - once they told me to take it to the dealer since warranty covers it after they diagnose it. They've gone out of their way to drive me to work after I drop off my car. Their prices are very reasonable, not like the dealer in town. Rene has been doing this for a long time and it shows. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.
I went in to order a bodykit and after twenty minutes waiting for someone to help me I finally got some help. I gave the name and style and they said they could order it. I told them to order it and I would pay cash as soon as it came in. After that day was the last I'd heard from them. I called to check up and they said they had no record of my request... The secretary was the only one there that was nice to me, thank you.
Pros: Nice couch to wait on
Cons: Service, Follow up, People skills
