Mt Vernon Elementary

My 2 kids go to school at Mt Vernon. This is my oldest child's 5th year there and my younger child's 3rd year. My husband and I have always been very pleased with most everything there. The staff all seem to be wonderful, kind people. The principal is a very kind man and he makes it a point to learn each childs name and to make every child as comfortable as possible. The teachers my kids have had are very helpful and I have found that they truely do care about my kids. There are special award programs at school for kids who follow rules. There are multiple activites for the families throughout the year. This is a uniform only school which has made it very easy for clothes shopping. I like it but the kids dont. This school is very family oriented and a wonderful place for my children to learn. It is a very nice building and very clean.

PROS: wonderful staff, uniforms, nice and clean building
CONS: the kids dont like wearing uniforms

If you are looking for a public school that requires uniforms then Mt Vernon is for you. Recently rebuilt this school is a beauty. The children are required to wear a uniform that consists of navy blue bottoms, and a white/gree/or navy top. Shoes can be whatever. While I like the concept of uniforms they are somewhat hard to find and I spent way more on them than I did on regular school clothes. Mostly because I had to buy seperate school and home/play clothes for my kids. All around the teachers are good too!
