Fong Chong Restaurant is NASTY!!!
by Ross G.
Wish I could give this place a negative star. Also wish Portland would adopt the California system of rating restaurant. That would have at least warned my wife and me as to what we were getting into. First we were rushed to a random unclean table. Then when we asked for the Dim Sum menu we were tossed a very old, sticky photo album with pictures of the food out of focus and with few dishes un-labeled. When we got our "Special" BBQ Pork and BBQ Duck we should have left right then. The duck had little to no meat on the massive amount of bones and was placed on brown lettuce. The BBQ Pork was dryer then the plate of nasty bones left over from my BBQ Duck. Then we received our Pot Stickers and Sticky Rice which broke the straw. THERE WAS A MAJOR NASTY HAIR IN THE POT STICKERS!!! Disgusted, we stopped eating after sending back some of the food and asked for the check. We finally gave up and put the extra food in take out boxes and left after paying $22 for the worse food we've ever had! We feel even worse for the homeless guy we gave the left overs to after we left.

This place is huge and caters to a large crowd for lunch and on the weekends. It is a favorite spot for Dim Sum. Ladies roll by with carts full of small plates. I love the BBQ pork buns and the shrimp in rice noodles. It is a good place to get adventurous.

I found this spot by happy accident during a trip to downtown Portland and have become a regular for Sunday Dim Sum. The ginger chicken, sticky rice and BBQ pork buns are my favorites. I visit whenever I'm in downtown Portland. For $30.00 two people can enjoy 4 or 5 dishes with enough to take home for a snack!
