I just wanted to say that kasch's is a really great store. The help is amazing and super nice.
Everybody makes mistakes and you cant run down a whole business because of the advise given by one employee. Thats why products have directions, read them first and don't blame for your ignorance.

kasch's is great.

kasch's is great.

Pros: very large and lots of stock! open all year round!

Cons: location for some, close to my house though.

You decide.
I went in with a Apple tree branch and asked for something to get rid of the fungus. The manager recommended ferti-lome Systemic Fungicide and ferti-lome Borer, Bagworm, Tent Caterpillar plus a new professional feri-lome sprayer. 20+13+20=$53
I was told that I should not spray it on the Apple tree until the leaves fall off or I might destroy it. She said the best time is to spray in January.
She says, I should buy it now or I might forget in January; plus it is good for at least two years.

January comes around and I read the instructions.
Clearly on the label it states that, if you spray an apple tree, the fruit will be toxic for at least one year.

Toxic! Animal and human consumption may lead to Death!
Ouch, I waited the whole year watching that fungus consume the tree. Now I find out that I can't even use this product on the tree.

I also find out that I can spray the product anytime. It does not matter, you just should not use it on fruit bearing trees.

I call Kasch's Garden Center & Nurseries, 2500 SE Tacoma St, Portland, OR 97202-6899, Phone: (503) 231-7711 Manager agrees with instructions & says, go buy the Lilly Miller product at the Lake Oswego store.

I asked if I could trade product for product if the cost is equal or less on the product they should have recommended in the first place. I am told, "NO"
I call and finally the Vice President of the company tells me that since they had a 50% sale in the autumn, they can only give me 50% CREDIT for my unopened, ill-advised product. I must buy the other product at full price.
Just keep it, she says.

I say, "what difference does it make? I did not buy it at your sale, if I had, I still would have paid 50% and it would still be an even trade."
"No, not all products were on sale", she says.

I've been gypped.
So there was a push to sell some products?

The worst part, I could have died from toxic apples.
Thanks Kasch's.
Thanks for almost killing me!

The folks are friendly and knowledgable. The prices are mediocre -- pretty much what you'd expect from a nursery. They do have a decent selection though. If you're a flower lover, you'll still enjoy this place.
