I'm still not sure why the Spruce Goose ended of in McMinnville of all places, but it makes a great addition the museum. Even if you're not that big a fan of planes, its still work the visit. They have a great collection.

We ended up here because my husband loves aviation history and we were looking for an alternative to going all the way to Boeing in Seattle. The Spruce Goose of course is the main draw here. You could also join the tours conducted by volunteers here for a better understanding of all the aircraft displayed here. Tickets are not cheap but the museum is worth it.

WOW! Evergreen Aviation Museum is right off the Hwy just on the outskirts of McMinnville, you can't miss it! It's such an incredible experience, for history buffs and airplane buffs and everyone in between! The many planes that they have on display are overwhelming! And the Spruce Goose is massive! Truly a historic landmark in itself! The kids absolutely love it and they actually learn alot about the planes and their uses in history and present day. Truly a great museum site for the entire family! Only "flaw" is that it's a little expensive for admission, $12 per adult...can't remember how much for kids... cost us about $40 just to get in. Also has snacks and drinks there too.

PROS: Incredible museum of historic planes!
CONS: A little pricey for admission

My husband works in the airline industry and is a huge airplane enthusiast. We stopped at the museum on one of our trips to the coast.

I'd been in a closet all my life and have never even heard of the Spruce Goose until my visit. It is an amazing site because you can see if from the highway as you are driving in. My husband actually knows some Evergreen employees so we were able to take a private tour of the inside of the Spruce Goose and sit in the cock pit. It was amazing.

We also loved many of the other airplanes. There is some amazing history stored inside that hangar. The volunteers who work at the museum have all worked on or flown many of the different planes and can tell you amazing stories about their experiences.

Its definitely worth the stop next time you are driving through McMinnville.
