.

We stayed for 2 nights in a kitchen suite because we'd been told it was a good place to go with pets. As advertised, they were very easy-going about our dog, and the pet fees were relatively low. The view from our room amazed us, and the beach access was easy. Everything went downhill from there, though. The room was ok, a bit drab, and the kitchen only had the bare minimum. There was a fireplace, but you had to purchase the logs to burn there, you couldn't burn driftwood or anything. It was VERY easy to hear our neighbors, even when they were just having a conversation--thin walls. When we left, we asked if that was all we would be charged, and were assured that was it. Later I found an extra charge on my credit card and called to inquire. Apparently we were charged an extra $20 for not doing the dishes in our kitchen suite, according to the policy. a) I saw no such policy, and no one told me of one verbally. You'd think it would be in the guestbook in the room or posted by the kitchen, but the only thing posted there was a warning about the fireplace. b) There was soap, but no sponge, brush, or dishrag to clean with. That makes it kind of hard to keep up our end of a bargain we didn't know we had. c) I assumed housekeeping would clean the kitchen like they do the rest of the suite. Does that mean I was eating off dishes that any old person cleaned? That disturbs me a little... not sure how clean they really were. Next, we were charged again for "losing" a remote that wasn't there in the first place. I thought I was being a good guest by not making a fuss over the missing remote, but I guess that was a mistake. Overall, it was an ok experience, until I had to get on the phone and haggle about these spurious charges and end up paying more than I'd bargained for. Not fun, left a bad feeling over the whole experience.

Pros: Fantastic view, decent price, pet friendly

Cons: Policies not posted that you get fined for later, dingy room
