I have eaten here many times, usually when I am in a hurry and their food is good considering it is quite fast and their counter people are always friendly and helpful.
It is not gourmet but the prices are right and the food is tasty

Pros: fast service good prices

Cons: a step above average

Worst meal of my life. The sauce tasted like Spaghetti O's. The inside of my burrito was mushy. I would recommend Cha Cha Cha or Pepinos or Por Que No or the carts downtown or 100 other places before I would ever recommend this place.

This is like if your college roommate said he made you a burrito, but it turned out he just put spagetti-os in a tortilla.

A former girlfriend used to live 2 blocks away from the SW Jefferson Ole Ole, and I had the pleasure of eating there fairly often. From quite early on the owner, who at the time seemed to work the Jefferson location fairly regularly, would recognize me, thank me for coming back, talk about whatever. The staff in general always seemed cheerful and close-knit.

I live much closer to the Burnside restaurant and eat there nowadays, and while the atmosphere on this side of the river isn't quite as familially chummy, the staff is still polite and friendly.

I can't say much about most of the food at Ol Ol. I've tried a couple different burritos which were very tasty, if not gustatorial revelations; my lack of a broad knowledge of the menu is due to my indefatigable love of the cheese enchiladas plate with red sauce.

The food always arrives about 2 minutes away from the enchiladas themselves cooling to a temperature at which they can be inhaled without fear of melted cheese burns. This is the perfect pause in which to mix, chop, and generally rearrange the plate's items into your favorite combinations (sorry, fussy ingredient separatists. You'll have to rea the Mercury or something. Although you're probably more the WW type). Once your plate is prepped, what you'll be eating is made with freshy-tasting ingredients--fluffy rice, crisp, unblemished lettuce, smooth and creamy refried beans--is generously portioned, and has a perfect ratio of side-items-to-enchilads-focus quantity.

I've enjoyed the plate with beef and pork enchiladas, but here as with enchiladas in general i feel cheese only is the true soul of the dish, which i've always seen as a combination of soft, easy to eat items that can be consumed quite rapidly owing to the fact that most of its elements are as soft and blended as though they had already been chewed. While this is not to recommend that you bolt the meal as fast as you can, or that I do with any regularity myself. It does, however make it an ideal candidate for hangover recuperation chow, and also works quite well when for whatever reason you've gone an unusually long time without eating, most of the things you consider eating seem unappealing or even a little nauseating. And at that point, who wants to add a lot of avoiadable chewing?

I had not ate here before, but on 02-10-09 I had dinner there and was surprised that I could get a dinner platter for 6.50 and trust me I can eat a lot, and I could not finish my meal. You can tell that it is made daily with fresh produce. The Salsa was fantastic, both the red and the green. I spent some time talking with the new manager Mark, who assured me that they were doing everything they could to regain the customer they lost, although it was before his time he still accepts responsibility on behalf of the owner. He said that he would do anything and everything to make sure that people come back, and I believe him. The service was great, fast and it was very clean and orderly. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the all the menu items and willing to make recommendations. The manager acknowledged that they can never be perfect, but they will always take care of the customer under his watch. I think you should try them again, and I?m sure you will not be disappointed. I would love to see them be successful, so please pass the word.

After being closed for several months, Ole Ole in Tigard is once again open. With a new manager, and a whole new staff, the dining experience here is wonderful!!

The food is excellent, the portions are huge, the price is low. Nothing on the menu over $8 and most meals between $5 - $6.

Featuring a Salsa Night on Fridays with a full menu item Buffet.

If you tried them before and liked them, you'll love them now! If you tried them before and hated them, you'll still love them now!

They have a drive-thru and are open from 10 am - 10 pm.

My family and friends have eaten there about 3 - 4 times a week since they reopened on Jan. 16th.

Give them a try, you won't be sorry!!! :-)

We work in the neighborhood and go to Ole about 2 times a week and we never get tired of them. The place is clean, fast and efficient! You get a big meal for pennies and the staff is quick and happy. I love it that they have horchata now to that is a PLUS!

Not even Christ on the cross suffered as much as I did eating at the Tigard location of Ole Ole. I should have known when I walked into a deserted restaurant during lunch hour, but I had already driven out there so I went ahead and ate anyway. BIG MISTAKE!! :( : ( :(

My food was prepared quickly and piping hot. However, the sign outside promised "Fresh Mexican Food" and what I got was anything but fresh, nor was it particularly Mexican. The overwhelming flavor of my Al Pastor burrito was mushy pork fat, with the occasional hint of pico de gallo salsa and guacamole. The cook had obviously never eaten a burrito before, because each of the ingredients was segregated into its own section of the burrito and rarely blended together. The meat (pork marinated in a red chile sauce) was vibrantly orange and a closer examination revealed it to be fat, rather than meat. The refried beans were gray and watery and the rice almost non existent. I have never been less satisfied.

From this point on, I will refer to events in my life as B.O.O (Before Ole Ole) and A.D. (After Death), because I have spent the hour since my meal wishing that I had died rather than subject my mind, body and taste buds to that miserable excuse for a quality dining establishment.

My best friend recently told me about this place that he and his wife go to about 4 times a week. I tried it and was amazed at how good the food was. Taste is the most important factor for me, but as a side benefit the portions are freaking huge, and it's so affordable. This is my favorite place now, and the drivethru makes getting your food in about 1 minute. Everyone should try this place if they enjoy restaurant style mexican food. As a bonus their drivethru is open late. Check it out!

We just discovered the Tigard location, next door to Schuck's on 99W - and were blown away by the quantity and quality of the food. We first went in expecting typical fast food, and got so much more. Just got back from our second visit. Fresh, made from scratch, and a mole' sauce that's to die for. Everything we've had has been seasoned perfectly - I'd use a touch more chipotle in the chipotle sauce, but that's just me - a wonderful balance of flavor and spice. You can't get better at twice the price.

The place used to be a low-end, cheap burger/fish place (I know - I ate there a couple of times), but it's clean, looks freshly painted, and the staff we've encountered has been terrific (although they are short a wait person or two). The old drink dispenser is still where it was before (I think it's dead, though) and the bathrooms are clean but not state-of-the-art, but the overall atmosphere is open and welcoming. After reading some of these reviews, I'd have to recommend to anyone who had a poor experience there before to give it another go. This is a great little restaurant and a fantastic value.

I moved to Portland from Austin, TX in 2000 & thought I would never find worthy Mexican food, so I was so very happy when I discovered this great little taqueria relatively close to my office. During my 4 years in Portland my family & I were regulars at Ole Ole & now that we're back in Austin I find myself craving their tacos quite regularly. I never thought I'd see the day when I would be scouring Austin in search of a taco that can compare to one I once enjoyed in Oregon!

Do not go to the Tigard location! This was the worst so-called mexican food I have ever had. I should know, being from Fresno, Ca. We thought we would try something new, big mistake. How do you not season food? Anyway, the other locations might be good. This one s....!

Hola, The Burnside Location is fantastic. The staff are all very polite and unlike most places in southeast, seem to be happy to be at work and to serve you. There is great outdoor seating in the summer time and plenty of space inside to eat in the winter.

The Food is good and the price is fair.

The only downside to this place for me is that the rice is made with Chicken stock so if you are a vegetarian and order something with rice, you're eating chicken. If you're a carnivore I guess you are in heaven in a place like this. (please make some rice without Chicken Stock in it for all of the vegetarians!)

As far as Cheap eats go this place is fantastic. If you're on a limited income, a student, or just looking for a good filling meal for a very inexpensive price Ole Ole is great!

Again, the staff are awesome and that goes a long way in my book.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant (and I use that term loosely with regards to this place)!! Every thing we ordered was wrong and there was absolutely no customer service. All but two of the soda selections were just water. My 13 year old daughter said McDonalds has better service than this place and she was right. A complaint to the manager only got us a blank stare and some excuse about them just opening. Save your money for some place that actually values their customers; we certainly will!

TIGARD LOCATION at 13165 SW Pacific HIGHWAY recently opened. We ate there on Saturday, October 13 at 7:00 PM. The Tigard location has only been open for less than a week. There was kitchen equipment stored by the front entrance, there was mold / dirt / gunk in the get-it-yourself coke machine. This may give you an indication of how the ordering process is - counter-style, "here's your empty paper cup, get your drink over there....and don't forget to drop some money in my tip cup when you order"." Prices were more than I would expect for having to counter order food , get my own drink and no service to speak of. The salvation was that the food was good and the red and green sauces were the best I've ever had. We probably won't go back due to lack of service and it was so dirty - uck! Good luck, although I don't expect this place to stay open more than 60 - 90 days.

We eat at this place all the time. As far as the atmosphere & food its great but the service lately was awful. A heavy set waitstaff named Alma was hitting on me and my husband the whole time as if she'd like to smother us with her chest. I am not a conservative person by far but she pretty much blinded us by the outfit she was wearing. My husband and I are both insulted by the way she was acting maybe she's been high on something. There is something wrong with that girl, I'm hinting some testing for employees at least while they work. My suggestion is the restaurant need to get more presentable wait staff. What good is the food if the service isn't very good. Overall, beside the awful waitress the food's great. My coworkers and I had been coming to this place and never had this experience such a bad service. I will definitely think twice about coming again if employees acts like that.

The chili relleno burritos are to die for. Seriously. And the price is amazing. The service has always been great, even when there is a line out the door, the counter person is always calm and friendly. I almost always take the food to go, as the restaurant is usually loud and cold, but when it's nice outside they have a good amount of tables outside. Highly recommended. I've yet to find a better chili relleno burrito in Portland.

It is so difficult to find a fish taco that is decent let alone fresh. Ole Ole does a wonderful job! I just went in recently and got totally stuffed on fish tacos and spent $3. The service is great-everyone is super friendly. They have a great menu and the prices are super cheap. It is a small place and can be fairly crowded at lunch time but you will see why after eating there! They use very fresh ingredients and have a good selection of yummy drinks with or without alcohol.

PROS: Excellent food at dirt cheap prices, convenient location
CONS: Small

I've been going to Ole Ole since I moved to E. Burnside, and I have only been disappointed twice: once the al pastor was very greasy (however, I showed up just before they closed). As far as consistency goes, their food is almost always excellent. Sure, every now and then it may get a little dry, but given this place's volume of business a little forgiveness is in order. The mole and red sauces are very smooth, not over-chocolaty or over-smoky. The burritos and tacos are a fantastic deal and very flavorful. The al pastor is probably their best meat ingredient.

I did, and boy was it regrettable. Run, don't walk, from the nachos. As well as probably most of the menu at this wannabe tacqueria. For crying out loud, who gives a rat's elbow if it's under five bucks--if it's that bad??

This tasty alcove of Mexicali maximus can turn the most vacant of venter into the tubbiest of tummies in but a single afternoon of delectable delights.

The answer is Burritos and Beer.
The question is unimportant.

Ole Ole is tiny, but big on yummy cheap eats. The menu is standard Mexican food. The burritos are HUGE and 3-5 bucks. A cheese quesdilla lasts me two meals...they load you up here.

They have limited/inside, outside seating...I usually opt for take out.

I love this place, but usually go to the their other location on Jefferson neat Portland State. They give you a huge Burrito for the money and it actually tastes good and is fresh. They usually have coupons on Citysearch that make it even a better deal. Check them out!

I admit, I eat here every couple of weeks, but every time I do, I keep wondering why. This place is a solid mediocre. Don't confuse cheap prices and large portions with quality (McDonalds is good by that measure). The food here is somewhat uninspired and I wish I could take all of the positive reviewers to get a really good burrito, but that would apparently require going out of state and I just don't have that kind of money. I just don't get it - why can't a Portland restaurant make a really good burrito, not just a cheap one. Here's a tip - you can make a burrito both better and cheaper at home. This review applies to La Sirenita, Bonita, and Cha Cha Cha as well.

This is the best little whole in the wall Mexican joint you can ask for. The food is full flavored and done nicely. I have trouble believing they can make any money on the huge burritos they sell for only $3.50. It's not the best place to eat dinner unless you sit outside. The staff is fantastic, friendly, and in most cases, not hard to look at. You can have a huge, great meal and a beer for well under ten bucks. What more can you ask for!

Pros: Nice food, Hot staff, quick service

Cons: simple dining room

Really excellent, authentic taqueria on East Burnside.

The usual, funky, hole-in-the-wall decor, but the service is friendly, the food is great, and the value cant be beat. Where else can you stuff yourself silly for under $5?

Pros: Great Food, Great Prices, Jarritos sodas

I ate at the SW location near Portland State and enjoyed the entree I had. The service was good and it was a nice little restaurant to eat at, relax, and do some studying.

Try the wonderful Al Pastor (BBQ pork) taco, the fish taco was also very good. The Chili Relleno burrito is overwhelmed by all the beans and rice, so maybe go easy on those. If you're going to take out ask them to wrap each item separately since the tortillas will tend to stick. The hot sauce rocks! Come on, get rid of the hamburgers on the menu. This is one of the best value places in town.

With $3.50 burritos that must weigh 2 pounds, you can't find a better dining bargain. The chile relleno burrito is my favorite--best when each bite is topped with plenty of hot sauce. Don't miss the chips and salsa--real pico de gallo that tastes just like you get in Mexico. It doesn't come with meals, but it's about $1.50 and plenty for two. The atmosphere isn't much, but it's great for a quick bite or just get it to go.

Pros: Cheap, Large portions, Very tasty

Ole Ole makes my favorite burrito and I love going here because of the great prices. My husband and I can split a dinner plate for $4-5 and both be completely full. Not much seating, getting takeout is a good idea.

If you don't weep with joy upon having a plate of Ole Ole's heaping nachos placed in front of you, I have no words for you, you soul-less heathen.

Nachos as an object of beauty and perfect taste. Perfection.

I love the food here! The food is excellent in portion size and taste. The atmosphere is warm and the people are always friendly. For $3.25, I'm full for most of the day.

I freaking love this place. Where else can you get a huge burrito for $3.50? You can't make them yourself that cheap. It's CRAZY!

You cannot get better tasting food or a larger portion for the pennies spent at Ole Ole. It's the best burrito shack in p-town and probably the entire U.S. Eat, revel, enjoy!

I have tried almost everything on the menu and it has all been served with a smile. I no longer live in the area, but every visit to Oregon deserves a trip there. I like most that the meat is plentiful in every dish and that ususally at each site, at least one of the owners are present. I have referred many people there to have them become faithful patrons like myself. I highly recommend the special quesadilla and you can ask them to put the sour cream & guacamole inside! uummmm

Cons: Sometimes Crowded, Not enough Parking

A diamond in the rough. There are many taquerias in town now, but Ole Ole consistantly delivers in quality, quantity and very friendly service.

The most bland burrito I've ever had, but also one of the cheapest. I couldn't even tell if the guacamole I asked for was in the thing. The dining room is small and airy, no decor, but the line moves fast.

Another location Downtown location near PSU on S.W. 6th Ave. Ole Ole is very reasonably priced with nothing over $5.50. They have chicken, beef, carnitas, fish, and tongue. They have tacos, burritos, chimi changas, taco salad, taquitos, and a vegetarian menu to name a few things. Ask for extra limes and salsa. The green salsa is medium, and the red is hot! I guarantee that Ole Ole is one of the best Mexican restaurants around! Call ahead and it will be ready in 10-15 minutes. Or eat in the restaurant, they have a bright, multi-colored interior with cool paintings done by local artists! The ambiance is great, but it can get busy! Call ahead if you are in a rush!

Ole Ole offers its customers a simple, yet rewarding dinning experience. The service is always very friendly, fast, and the food is delicious, especially when you take into account the inexpensive prices. Great for a lunch break, or a pit stop before going home.

With the exception of the lines that can form during normal lunch hours at the PSU location, there isn't one negative thing that I can say about this place. The folks are the best and I haven't had better Mexican food since arriving in PDX from the southwest. They even have fish tacos.

Cheap eats, great service. I can't pay enough compliments to this place. It caters to Portland State students and staff, who don't want to shell out big bucks for lunch. It has extremely tasty food. It has knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have never been disappointed with this place, and judging from its popularity at lunch, others feel the same.

ok, I am a burrito fiend and I love this joint. Best cheap mexican eats thus far in the state. Cool little shop and great service. Best to call ahead for lunch. mmmm. just thinking about it makes me drool...

Its a small place so not a very good call for a family looking for a dine in experience (leave the family at home and grab a burrito to go!)
