Barclay Hills Animal Clinic is Fabulous!
by Kitty C.
I have used Barclay Hills for 20 years, first with my goats (he no longer works with large farm animals) and later (and currently) with my dogs. I have always been happy there. Dr. Ferro has a lot of instinct and experience. Other staff members have been there for YEARS and can handle whatever is thrown their way. At times my dogs have needed the intervention of a specialist, and Dr. Ferro has been very cooperative and helpful.

Barclay Hills Animal Clinic is awesome!
by Virginia D.
I have used Barclay Hills for quite some time now. They are awesome. There are lots of other vets closer to me, but I will drive from Portland all the way to Oregon City because I trust them with my Cane Corsos, especially my puppies. I appreciate their knowledge, common sense approach, and reasonable pricing. I have recommended this vet to other breeders and owners, and they have been pleased as well. Great work, Barclay Hills.

over-rated

not that impressed - took my dog there for a 2nd opinion and dr. fero was rushed and didn't seem to be able to figure out anything more than my other vet - also, the place seemed disorganized and a little on the dirty side of things......

Amazing care and prices are good!
by Macy L.
I have a cat, a dog and two turtles!
I love my family and I would never take them to another vet clinic.
Dr. Fero is wonderful. He has a wonder insight when it comes to pets. He feels for owners and understands the devotion of pet parents. This is the only vet clinic that I've ever been to that I didn't feel like they were just trying to get money.
For example, My darling dog Nova got into the cat food and had an allergic reaction. Nothing too bad, just itchy. I called the clinic and asked about getting some benadryl for her to help her be comfortable while the reaction worked its course. I was told that I should give her some dyphrenhydromeine. When I asked how much that would cost they told me that I could just buy it over the counter at a grocery store. Thinking back on that, I could have been easily played into buying the same thing from them at double the price and never even know it! They are honest and knowledgeable. I will never go any where else.

I take my frenchies here
by sam m.
I own one french bulldog right now. It is the third that I have considered "mine" since we began breeding them and I have closely cared for well over 30 frenchies in the last 7 years. My dogs are all children and I give them the best care, which is why I recommend this veterinary clinic to other Frenchie owners. This vet has surgically shortened the elongated palettes of 3 frenchies under my care, including my own boy and his sister (Scout and Cotton), and also performed a crucial surgery on Scout's ingrown tail. All surgeries were of outstanding professional quality, prices were great and Dr. Ferro was readily available for all concerns or questions. I will take the hour drive to this clinic any day.

Like a James Herriott book...
by Charles M.
It's too bad "Anonymous" has had such a bad experience, because Barclay Hills is one of the best, most caring animal clinics I've ever visited. Everyone in the office genuinely cares about the pets that come in, and we've never had anything but first class service in the ten plus years we've been going there. Dr. Ferro doesn't specialize in any particular dog breed (although I understand he owns golden retrievers) but he does understand dogs and cats and the anxiety of the owners who bring them in. My mother in law was a "cat lady" for more than 15 years, rescuing and neutering hundreds of strays. There was no other clinic within 20 miles that she would take her precious cats to. 'Nuff said!

Dont Visit This Clinic
by Anonymous
I took my dog to this clinic for an eye irritation and was told that both dogs needed vaccines. Well the receptionist, (i assume she was the receptionist since she sits at the front and answers the phone) proceeded to give both my dogs vaccines. In the state of oregon, it has to be a licensed tech or vet to administers rabies vaccines. The insurance company wont tell me if the women who gave him the shot is licenced...Our older dog developed a deadly blood disorder, IMHA from his vaccine. The clinic will not take responsibility for this and stated that they do not have to tell you the risks of the vaccines. They can kill your pets. We are out of pocket $10,000 plus dollars right now and he is still faced with blood tests monthly and medication daily. Dont visit this clinic....

Barclay Hills Animal Clinic is te best
by S G.
Doug Ferro is our vet (we have 4 dogs) I have been with them for 18 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. They are very concerned and good at what they do. Doug always explains everything to me and makes sure that I understand what is going on with my dogs. I highly reccommend the clinic and espeically Dr Ferro They are reasonable rates too.

Dr. Ferro specializes in French bulldogs, and we've been very happy with him. His office is located a little out of the way, but with these dogs' problems, it's definitely worth the drive. Dr. Ferro knows exactly what sorts of problems to look for and lets us know what to expect; he even called us right after surgery one day because he knew we were worried parents. We've always been able to get an appointment with him the same day and have nothing but the highest recommendation for his office.

I was referred to Barclay Hills Animal Clinic a few years ago by a dog breeder. I am glad I chose to listen to their recommendation. The service is outstanding--you never wait a long time to get your pet to see the vet, and the prices are very reasonable and comparable to any other veterinarian.
Even thought I am about 8-10 miles from this clinic, and there are several other vet clinics closer to me, I am sticking with this veterinarian.
Doug Ferro, D.V.M. is the one that runs the clinic, but all of his staff, from the other veterinarians on hand, to the receptionist to the vet assistants are courteous and quick with services. One of the best places I have done business with!
PROS: Great staff, very reasonable prices, quick and highly professional !!!
CONS: Traffic congestion at times due to construction in the area on Molalla Ave.
