I was in My Car Care Center Last Month, i actually had a meeting with the office manager. They happened to be very busy that day thier parking lot was full. As I was sitting down in the Lobby waiting for the office manager. There was a customer sitting there reading a book. We started talking and she said that she had a trip to go on and had to get some maintenance done on her car, she said her brother refferred her a while ago, and she was really pleased with the work that they've done for her so far and she would reccomend them to anybody. Then Karen
(The Office Manager) while she came to join me handed the young lady a piece of paper to write a testimonial for her, (They have about for more testimonials on the wall) so Karen and i met. It was amazing what happened after the young lady was done writing the testimonial, Karen said well it looks like i am going to have to give you an additional 10% off your bill today. The Customer was amazed and excited that she did that for her. She could not Believe it!
Then Later on an older lady came in and they were waiting on some parts for her car, and it looked like the part wasn't going to come in for a couple of days. The lady seemed fine with that. Well Karen started to call around for the part and actually got a call back while the Lady was still thier and she seemed very happy because her car was going to be done early. So i Myself have never had my care worked on at My Car care center. But I did witness that as busy as they are. They still seem to maintain hight standard customer service and Work Ethics.

I've lived in St John's for years, and happily discovered MCCC two vehicles ago. They were honest-seeming, fair, and there were times when the did simple repair/maintenance without charging me.

BUT... they were sold or switched hands or something. Gone are the ol' dog mechanics (Pat, Ed), replaced by a couple of VERY young-looking kids. I'm sure they're much cheaper to hire, but without an older experience mechanic on hand, I'm more than a little skeptical. I want to have at least ONE guy on hand who's been in the biz for 20+ years.

I was in there recently, had some work done, seemed fair... and then the gal behind the counter was explaining the warranty, since they're "now national". What happened to the locally owned shop? Gone.

Anyone recommend a good mechanic?

I've lived in St John's for years, and happily discovered MCCC two vehicles ago. They were honest-seeming, fair, and there were times when the did simple repair/maintenance without charging me.

BUT... they were sold or switched hands or something. Gone are the ol' dog mechanics (Pat, Ed), replaced by a couple of VERY young-looking kids. I'm sure they're much cheaper to hire, but without an older experience mechanic on hand, I'm more than a little skeptical. I brought my car in on a monday at 1 p.m.
I was told that having to wait for parts and service
might only take until friday, but would probably take until
the following monday. I was okay with that assessment.
The following monday came, and by 3 p.m. without a call from the place, I called them.
I was told that parts had not yet arrived, and that they might not arrive for up to 3 days.
It would have been nice for someone to have called me
to let me know what the situation was.
While on that call, I asked that one of the tires that was almost completely destroyed be swapped with the spare.
Wednesday afternoon came around, and I called to find
out what was going on. I was told that the work had actually just been finished. (When were they planning on calling me to let me know?)
After driving the car home, I opened the trunk to find
that everything that was in the way of accessing the spare had ostensibly been thrown out of the way.
It was a mess of maps, cd's, etc. to rearrange, and didn't have me thinking that I was a wanted customer.
(Are they going to steal something if I come back?)
My car care center did not care about me or my vehicle.
This kind of disregard for people and their property
is not acceptable, and certainly has not earned
further business.
I noticed that they had BBB plaques hanging up for 2008 and 2009, but not 2010.

We've taken our car to these guys for routine maintenance for the last two years and have always been pleased with the prices and service. They're genuinely honest mechanics - on multiple occasions, they've alerted us to things to look out for (a minor leak in a seal or a part that was starting to wear down, but still fully functional), and then actually recommended against making the repair right away since it wasn't necessary at the time.

Their hours can be a little restrictive, but they're really easy to work with for before- and after-hours pick-ups and drop-offs.

I'm so happy to have a great neighborhood mechanic! I'd recommend them to anyone.
