I'm not sure where the folks who left low ratings and negative feedback went, but it doesn't sound like Amazon Park Animal Clinic. Amazon has provided expert and compassionate care for my 7 pets for over 15 yrs. I prefer to see Dr. Jones because he has been extra good with my shelter dog who has emotional/behavioral issues. The facility is older but clean and well equipped. The staff are consistently friendly and I have not observed them conducting personal business in the clinic. Their charges are reasonable for services provided, and they are always respectful of our budget and resources when discussing treatment options. It's true that you get what you pay for, and I've always been willing to pay a little more for quality care for my pets. We moved to the coast several yrs. ago and have not been able to find a vet as good or reasonably priced as Dr. Jones, so we continue to take our pets back to Amazon whenever possible.

We've been going to this vet for over 10 years now and their facility has never looked as Dan has described, Nor have we ever been treated badly by the staff. Dr. Heyward is a superb vet, one of the best in the area. So is Dr. Jones. Without their skills and dedication we would have lost numerous dogs. We run a dog rescue and despite the fact that we aren't rich and often can't afford to do some things, we are always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. I have to say, the clinic is not the cheapest, but they are not outrageous, either. And the care offered is more than commensurate with the fees charged. The care you get there has nothing to do with how much money you have, we are living proof of that. We have between 10 and 20 dogs at any given time and we are not rich. We get great care and an understanding shoulder whenever we go in. How much we spend is never an issue, and we are always trying to cut corners and save a buck in rescue, we have to.

I have been taking my dogs and cats here for about 20 years. No matter which vet I see, we always get full caring attention. I even adopted my latest cat from them after the litter was dumped on their doorstep.

When my dog Pal developed some brain issues last year, they were totally understanding of the financial constraints I had on what I could do (like not taking him for an MRI in Portland) but what we could do reasonably for him.

I would (and have) recommended them to anyone.

Must agree somewhat with Dan. Offering the highest priced treatment seems to be the order of the day in this vet clinic. And we too were made to feel like unworthy pet owners because we did not have over a thousand dollars to spend on treatment and had to have our pet put to sleep. There was no guarantee the animal would have been cured even if we had been able to afford the treatment. The front desk staff are not friendly, not welcoming, and have been known to continue with their personal phone calls even though you are standing at the desk waiting. Maybe there is a direct correlation between the degree of friendliness shown and amount of money they know you will be willing to spend there ? I'm sure the actual medical care is adequate. The vets we saw were personable enough and good to our pet. But the philosophy and attitude in general just didn't feel right and we too switched to another veterinarian for our remaining pet and feel much better about the entire situation--friendly office staff and vets who at least give the impression of being more focused on the animals than on the money they can squeeze out of you.

I have been taking my two cats to Amazon Park Clinic for over ten years. They have always been thoughtful, amazingly caring for my cats and have always treated them in the highest standards of Vet Care. My friends have had the same experience. When one of my cats suffered from cancer and the end was inevitable, they treated both she and I with deep respect and caring along with highly competent medical care. When Murphy died and some months later I also adopted my new cat from them...and they continue to care for my cats and always will.

Amazon Park Animal clinic over charged us for simple services, lost our medical records, treated us like bad pet owners, and had a negative outlook for our pet. Previous visits to their dimly lit lobby usually scattered with dog hair was frustrating having dogs barking continuously at cats seated on their wall benches (recently upgraded to plastic chairs) without a divider between cat & dog seating.
Our story: After being told that our dying cat had a tumor inside her ear & an abscess infection in her mouth & ear (the cat would only have a few months to live or cost thousands to fix)- we had finally brought our aging cat back to Amazon Park Animal clinic to be put to sleep. She was in a lot of pain- continual puss coming from her ear & drooled blood constantly. Anyways- we called & made an appointment to have our cat euthanized ($50.00) with mass burial where they take the remains ($25.00). Upon arrival they inform us that Doctor Jones made no notes of our cat having ANY medical trouble on previous visits and even though we had decided to have our cat euthanized Doctor Jones wanted to look at the cat in the box & see if he thought it was in our best interest to have her euthanized (even though he had said this previously to us). We tell him to have the cat euthanized and take the cat from us and do what he wants with it when we are gone. Promptly- he opens the cat box besides us- inspects the cat for roughly 30 seconds still in the box & closes the box and agrees that euthanizing the cat is in our best interests. Moments later the receptionist hands me a bill for $125.00 which we pay and leave.
Looking back on the situation we felt taken advantage of by Amazon Park Animal clinic for charging $50.00 to look in the box in the lobby for 45 seconds after we had asked them to euthanize our cat and be done. In addition Dr. Jones(in the lobby) & the receptionist kept saying they were sure the cat would not need to be euthanized if $1,300 in surgery to the cat's ear & mouth were done as a temporary relief to those areas. This made us feel like even worse pet owners because we were having our cat put to sleep and couldn??t afford thousands to fix the cat for another year or so.
In the future I will be going to ??The Veterinary Hospital? (http://www.thevethosp.com/) at 175 silver Lane off River Road near beltline. They have better prices than Amazon Park Animal Clinic, a great staff, and an amazing atmosphere for a vet. But best of all ??The veterinary hospital? actually cares about the animal!

The Doctors and other staff at Amazon are very caring people. They always listen carefully on the phone and express empathy for what can sometimes be a scary situation. They always get us in quickly and they explain in detail and answer all questions.
I always say it is a shame that our pets cannot meet them under other circumstances because they are so nice! I appreciate having Amazon to help me keep my baby healthy.

PROS: Loving and caring professionals
CONS: None
