I went in the first day and the girl and the front desk was ok, not good, not bad. The second day I went in was on Tuesday. The young woman (I believe her name was Rachel) was extremely sweet and helpful, I couldn't say enough good things about her. The instructors were also very nice and experienced, I really have no complaints. I don't know what others are talking about. Personally I believe that it's an extremely upscale neighborhood and it would be difficult to cater to such privileged people that live in that area. I know Yoga in the Pearl is not perfect, but it's one of the best places I've been to.

I agree that the women who work the front desk are little monsters. They almost killed my good yoga feelings because knowing I'd have to deal with them would put me in a foul mood. After three years, nothing has changed either. But to add to that, I couldn't get an extension on my package for classes even though I had injuries...and couldn't do yoga! I lost fifty bucks because they are such jerks, they wouldn't extend my package while I let my injuries heal. This studio-- not its instructors- is a joke. It is not yogic in practice, and I think they make the teachers all teach the same poses. No diversity, really. I am glad not to ever have to set in foot in there again.

Well, taking the time to write this review shows how upset I am with their treatment. There were 4 girls working and they ALL were arrogant, unpleasant, rude and the staff should definitely do some yoga themselves to have a better attitude in life.

I REALLY hope the owner of that establishment pay some attention to those "silly girls" and teach them YOGA and "work ethic".

Classses are too full. Facility is dirty. Restaurant noise carries into studios, which is distracting. Front desk staff is not very friendly.

i agree with another review that said "i don't know what all of the hype is about." this place is not clean (in fact the carpets stink badly!), the staff is not friendly, and many of the instructors have an enormous ego. yoga pearl is not at all a warm or welcoming environment. if it wasn't for having a small cafe and a great location, i don't this this business would last.

Cons: attitude, dirty

I went in to buy my wife some yoga classes, because I heard they had great teachers. However the lady at the desk was so rude I just walked out. I don't understand how they can keep people like that employed. I will never go back, and remember to tell my friends the same.

I just don't see what the big deal is. Yes, they have a lot of classes and yes, the space is really large. But it still matters how you treat people, because, believe it or not, someone may not come back, and so forth.
I have been to many yoga studios all over the country. This one by far has the least friendly staff up front. At my favorite place in the northeast, you are always greeted warmly and treated nicely. And I don't expect shiny happy people being fake holding hands, etc, but c'mon, you are a yoga studio, don't make me feel like I am bothering you before I even get class...
And speaklng of class, you better put those hands together in your warrior one or else- "hands together!!!" "look up at your hands!" no matter if you have neck issues, which was not asked at the beginning of class.
Remember the soup n*zi on seinfeld? I sorta got that feeling the other day when I was afraid for not straining my already injured neck to look at my hands.
But not all the teachers are like that. Some are friendly and helpful. Some treat class like a standup act too and tell interesting, irrelevant stories while you're in child's pose.
Just don't buy a package before you check it out. I think that you can find other friendlier, more balanced, zen-like places that don't make you feel more stressed just by being there, and let you keep you hands apart in your warrior if you want.

Pros: some classes/instructors quite good

Cons: atmosphere is a little dank, instructors can be muy bossy, have to pay for a mat

Zen out man! this is a terrific place to pick up your karishna. Classes and programs galore - and everyone is serious about yoga. Instructors are all terrific and know what they're doing -I really like Jana's classes. The facility is a timeless work of art - and their ventilation is fantastic (none of this let's get intimate with someone bo stuff.) They have other great supplementary services too... massage, integrative therapy- (check out Lucy Egen) and a wonderful restaurant- Blossoming Lotus... I usually go for my favorite green juice after each session.

This place is amazing!!... gotta check it out, definately one of the top yoga studios in Portland. Try the Power Vinyasa classes.....these are my favorite, a great class, will definately make you sweat, but accessible for all levels as long as you're prepared to work hard.....Enjoy!

Obvious from the name, this is located in Portland's Pearl District and accordingly is a natural fit for the area. Numerous classes are offered, most lasting between 1 and 2 hours, and the pricing is surprisingly reasonable for the area. You can also purchase plans good for X number of classes or X number of months.

Ok, Ok, I confess, I do Yoga! I was far from all for it when my girlfriend talked me into going with her. She said it would help with my stress level. Well, low and behold, she was right (Don't tell here, but she always seemsto be right!). I feel so relaxed after a class. It really seems to help me sleep. This place is the only place i have ever been to, but from what I hear, it is one of the best around.

Tried hot yoga for the first time at this studio and they are great. Staff is friendly and not elitist, and they have a great special--try three classes for $15! They weren;t intimidating at all and the decor is as soothing as the istructors.

Yoga in the Pearl has the best beginner workshop for non yoga people to get exposed to different types of yoga, and gain the confidence to take other classes. It was not intimidating at all.

PROS: Friendly People, Relaxing, Good Workout

I've attended various yoga studios around the Portland area for various sport induced injuries, but I couldn't find the right balance to heal myself....until I discovered The Pearl. Atmosphere, massage, different styles of yoga, instructors, they are absolutely the best. Strong recommendation!
