Camerons Book store has a really big collection of old magazines such as Vanity Fair, Playboy, Hustler, People, GQ, Esquire. Basically all the major publication. Some of these magazines are 30 years old. The place smell real bad because of all the old magazines in there, I don't know how Cameron, the owner of the store can stay in there the whole time. I have to cover my nose because it smell that bad. They should open a window or have some air freshener, those thing cost like $3. You feel like the books are attacking you.
PROS: Lots and lots of old issues and books, dirt cheap
CONS: Smell like 1975!

Perhaps Portland’s old used bookstore, founded just before WWII, they carry some 100,000 books, magazines, and even comics. A splendid gift idea is to present someone with a magazine -- say, Life, Look, Time, etc -- from the day/week/month of their birth, and this is one of the few stores around that probably will be able to accommodate you.

Cameron's is Portland's oldest bookstore. It's right downtown, and I always find good stuff there.
It's perfect for rainy afternoon lunch breaks at work...you can browse around and read. The staff is really nice, too.
PROS: Cheap, friendly
CONS: Not as big as Powells, but sometimes, that's a good thing!
