I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to diners. Understand that. But when I'm in the area and want a greasy burger and fries and to people watch this is my favorite hang out. Stop by and grab something. The lemonade is worth ordering too.

This is a great place to come for brunch and is almost always packed. This is a mom place and you won't find too many hipsters. Okay for kids, but nice with the folks. Good atmosphere and service. Food is okay.

I had found this place on City Search awhile ago and decided to put it in my favorites. A couple of weeks ago we went on a Sunday morning. The place was packed, so we knew this was a good sign. The wait was 20-25 minutes, but the host said that they have "first come first serve" seating that looks over the dining room available. We got to sit right away. We both ordered "The Bunkhouse" and it was beyond delicious. Also a huge plus it appeared that the owners were also working the floor, and working just as hard as everyone. Love that! Can't wait to go back.

Pros: Great Service w/o the snobby Portland serve attitude

Cons: Couldn't get the caddy started

We went to the Cadillac Cafe for breakfast at around 11:30 on a Sunday morning - not the best time to get breakfast anywhere. It was a 30 minute wait, but the host pointed us to some empty spots over at the coffee bar where we were able to sit immediately. The service was prompt (especially considering how busy it was) and courteous (when I asked for a non-dairy creamer, Jen made sure to ask me about the dairy in the breakfast items I ordered; she was very good about checking on us and seemed quite genuine). The food was absolutely amazing. Great place, I look forward to going back next time I am in town!

You need to really pick the time that you go to this restaurant. You could be in for a wait. Why? Because the food is very good. They have a large variety of breakfast items to choose from.

This is by far my favorite restaurant to go to when I'm visiting Portland. I recommend the Pear Mimosa and the Bunkhouse Vittles (eggs, the best turkey sausage, home fries and hazelnut french toast). To die for... Get 2 pear mimosas... If you're in a hurry, sit at the counter and they'll get you in and out in no time. Be sure to check out the big pink Caddy behind glass. Can't wait to get back to Portland to go again.

I think this place is trying to be neuvo-chic, but can't resist staying a little bit Portland. The breakfast fare as well as the lunch is plentiful and tasty. The wait staff is very attentive and they will be most accommodating for your touchy palates or allergy prone tastes. Substitutions are not touted, but they will do it if it means you enjoy your food better. They also offer up egg substitutes for those watching their cholesterol.

I've never had a bad cup of coffee; but if you are a Starbucks fan you may be disappointed - the beans aren't burnt here. While the wait can be long; the food is worth it. Large parties should call ahead though; they are very kid friendly; they even have crayons and pictures for the kids.

Typically I've thought of the Cadillac Cafe as a great place for breakfast, which it is, but I went there for lunch and was not disappointed. I had the Red Curry Salmon and it was delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection and while there wasn't a lot of it, I didn't complain as the rice more than made up for the lack of fish. Afterwards, we ordered dessert and I had the Pumpkin Mousse. I love Pumpkin but even this was a bit much of a Pumpkin aftertaste even for me.

My only real compliant was the service. Our waitress was pretty unfriendly, had no sense of humor, and my friend and I felt like she didn't really want to be there. When he ordered dessert, there were two choices, and he said we'd take one of each. It seemed pretty straight-forward but she just stood there with a combination of "duh" and attitude on her face. He repeated it again and she took our order.

This is a pretty interesting place inside. There is a tricked out Pink Cadillac inside the restaurant. It's hard to miss and gives a Happy Days kind of feel even though the dishes, clientele, and prices are pretty sophisticated. They like their color pink, too. You'll see what I'm talking about when you go here. There is also a small little bar where you can order coffee, spirits, or soda pop. I've been here before and never noticed that before now. I also noticed quite a bit of diversity amongst the clientele, which is a welcome change from the suburbs.

I will continue to go back to the Cad Cafe, while only hoping I don't get stuck with the same waitress. I'd mention her name here but I'd like to think that by the next time I come back she'll no longer be working there.

My wife, son and I had breakfast there, and it was wonderful. I'm into omelettes, my son's into eggs and potatoes, and my wife into healthy eats, and we all had a good time. Since it was on a weekend morning, there was a line outside. And it went pretty fast.

Pros: Good food, good help.

Cons: Jellies and preserves are imported from Southern California. Local favorite eateries such as Cadillac should buy local.

The cadillac cafe is overall ok, It is loud and the food can take a while to get to you but it is enjoyable for the most part. Mostly american just because of the cadillac and mostly america has those. Over all ok worth a shot.

As other reviews have indicated, the exterior does not represent what you will experience on the inside. The Cadillac itself is more of a shrine than it is a theme, but it is quickly forgotten as you absorb the aroma of coffee and delicious breakfasts passing by your table being delivered by effecient and experinced staff.
An early arrival on a weekend is a must, but once seated they do not hurry you. If you have trouble with deciding on what you want off the menu, the staff will make an effort to determine what might fit your tastes. On our most recent visit, I found the omelette to be more crepe like than fluffy, but usually this means dry, but it was not. The spinach and tomato where fresh and not wlited from the preperation. The sides of red potatos was also well seasoned and a perfect compliment. Our French toast was as promised, a delight.
This restaurant is most definitly a top ten in our breakfast club.

My family and I went because of the rankings here on Citysearch, and because it was nearby. We had driven past a number of times, not thinking much of the exterior. It's not bad looking from the outside, just unremarkable. Inside however, it was apparent how much care has been put into the restaraunt. We had only a 5-minute wait before we were seated, and the service was nice, polite, not stuffy.

The menu selection was a bit thin, but what they had was well thought out. I had the "breakfast vittles", a sampler including sausage, potatoes, eggs and french toast. I was not focused on the french toast when I ordered it to be honest, but it immediately grabbed me in terms of presentation and taste. I didn't even need the syrup (tried it with a little anyway), it was that good.

The pancakes were very good- my son ordered those. He pronounced them the best ever, but he does that a lot. They were lighter in color than most, which to me made them more appetizing.

My wife had an omlette with various meats and mushrooms, which was more crepe-like than thick egg omlette. She enjoyed it a lot. For myself I found the eggs to be the weakest part of the meal, thin and a bit too wet.

We will defintely be back as regulars.

Don't be put off by the line out front, the food is worth the wait! Everyone knows how good the Cadillac's French toast is, but the restaurant's real gems are found in their specials, which seem to change every week or so. I had the Stroganoff Omelet recently and I can't remember a better breakfast.

I'd heard rumors of the Cadillac Cafe for months and finally went a week or so ago. My expectations re: decor were virtually nill but when our group of three entered around 9am on a Saturday, we were taken aback. It kind of looks like a hotel restaurant in Boca Raton, FL. This is *not* a "Portland" breakfast joint so choose differently if that's what you seek. That said, the staff was kind, attentive, and responsive. The food was average, and in one case, below average. Had an omelette that just didn't thrill-- an ingredient had presumed that dreaded "fridge taste" - boo. That said, I won't return on my own accord but perhaps a different day/time/moment would bring a better experience.

Cadillac Cafe has the best most fresh breakfast ever. I know it's not hard to mess up breakfast but these guys take it to the next level. It's also very clean and the owners are always there to greet you and to make sure your dining experience is perfect. One more thing, their bloody mary's are the best I've ever had. I would encourage going there just to try one.

Love the Cadillac. Nice atmosphere. Individual attention from the owners. Great champagne. Imaginative selections. Be brave and try something different. If you end up waiting, there is a lingere shop next door, and next to that is the great Dava Bead store. Buy some beads and make some earrings while you wait for your food! If you drink enough champagne, you might actually like your earrings!

The food here is fine, but the whole experience was soured by the fact that the chips in the fish and chips meal were just halved and quartered potatoes (like oversized breakfast potatoes). How lame. How lazy. I had a good feeling coming in because the place looked nice, but the worst thing is to be disappointed the moment your food arrives.

Worst breakfast in Portland, hands down. Portland is a city made of coffee, if you can't even serve drinkable coffee, what are you doing? Spend more time on your food and less time on your decor! And yes, there was shredded carrots in the very moist and very flavorless omelet they served.

I was highly disappointed by this place given all of the solid reviews. There are 3-4 breakfast places with much better and more creative fare. Hanging some Cadillac stuff on the wall doesn't make up for the sub-par food and long wait. I would recommend this place if you are looking for the most grease and butter for your money though.

Cadillac Cafe is where we always take our out of town guests for breakfast. They have a great menu with something for everyone, from creative omelets to more traditional fare. The atmosphere is crisp and clean and the waitstaff is very professional and attentive. Get there relatively early on weekend mornings, or you'll have a wait.

We adore Cadillac Cafe. Though we rarely attempt to go on weekends, and if we do, it's Saturdays before 9:30AM, otherwise the wait is insane.
The smoothies are a great way to start your day and the OJ is always freshly squeezed. CC serves Kobos Coffee, which is my favorite local roaster.

The pancakes are fluffy and the french toast is delectable, especially when ordered with the fresh fruit and hazelnuts. My son loves their wheat toast and thick bacon, but the potatoes are a bit lacking.

We've usually had really positive interaction with the staff, though on occasion you'll get the slighty curt hostess. An all-around great place for breakfast/lunch.

Simply awesome in every detail. Beautiful appointed restaurant. Always busy. Plan to wait on weekends for a table. Unusual and eclectic menu offering something for every taste. Prompt service, friendly, and some of the best NW regional cuisine I have ever experienced. A bit pricey for breakfast and lunch, but worth every penny. Awesome coffee too. With a Peet's on the corner nearby, they have risen to the occasion and offered some wonderful brews. Take a small group and everyone order something different and sample each others......I wish I would have done that. I wanted to try everything on the menu.

This place can be a little pricey for what they've got. They don't really do anything really great except for their French toast. The other brunch fare is pretty standard with omelettes and whatnot, just better than average ingredients. A mimosa and some French toast is probably the best way to go on a weekend morning. Still though, for the price you might as well pay half as much and get slightly lower quality but much greater quantity food at Holman's. The decor is nice with the pink caddy and the atmosphere is pretty calming.

This is a premier Portland dining spot. Sunday brunch is excellent and has a wide variety of offerings to please any palate. Dishes range from Tex-Mex to the traditional omlette. Service is attentive and timely. The value is good ($8-9 per large plate of food). This place is popular so I would say that the only downside is that you may way upward of 40 mins. on a Sunday morning for your table. If you can keep your appetite at bay, you won't regret the wait!

We have been to the Cadillac quite a few times and have always been rewarded after the usual wait with excellent and friendly service and absolutely outstanding food. I'm impressed with the staff and how smoothly they make their busy restaurant run. The decor is really nice, very classy. But above all, the food is bar none the best brunch in town. Just today I had the BEST breakfast I've ever had in my entire life. No kidding. You may have to wait a while, but it's more than worth it.

Pros: Fresh food, Great service, Delectable dishes

.

I LOVE this place for weekend brunch! The food is perfect every time and service is outstanding! They are very accomodating for annoying people like me who modify food. In fact, they SUGGESTED modifications and are vegi friendly! I love it there! I never know what to choose.

Now, for all you people out there who have never worked in a restaraunt or are selfishly unobservant, GET OVER THE WAIT! Look, it's freakin weekend brunch at the Cadillac! It's BUSY! You know this before you go there! Ask the host for some coffee as you wait and do a crossword or something. But, PLEASE STOP WHINING! Don't bother the host! Chill out! It's the weekend! I know you're hungover, but that doesn't give you any special privileges.

THANK YOU.

Went for breakfast twice and after the very pleasant tastes i endured i thought how could i lose with their brunch.Ordered a club sandwich that almost cut the inside of my mouth. And really, how hard is it to make a club.Plus the staff was spraying and washing windows right next to our food.It will never stop me from going there in the morning.I'll even wait for 15 minutes for a table on the weekend for it.

A: The only problem with this restaurant is the wait. B: The food is so amazing that it is 150% worth the wait, so just make sure you're not starving, cranky, or having low blood sugar, because you're going to wait, but you're going to be so incredibly happy with your food that you're not even going to remember the wait.

Okay, not sure what the person was talking about with the 'nothing to do with cadillac' remark. Hello? Would you like to be seated in the giant PINK CADDY in the restaurant? Great food, amazing staff, super friendly owners.....killer Dipsticks and Bloody Mary's. What's not to love? So you wait a little. Be sure it's well worth the wait for the experience. Make sure you try the Bunkhouse Vittles breakfast and a bloody mary...

Like most breakfast joints in Porland, this place will more than likely have a bit of a wait on the weekends. Rest assured, it is well worth it. Start with a bloody mary and then move on to some great, flavorful egg dishes that are not addorned with the usual grease of other breakfast joints. Fresh incredients and great service make this place a great pick!

The Cadillac recently added a lunch menu and it is nearly as good as what they make for breakfast, but not quite. If you can get there early, you'll have one of the best meals ever. Everything is fresh, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. It gets crowded but the wait is worth it.

I cannot replace this place. The food is always exactly right. I cant even bring myself to eat out for breakfast, nor can my wife, for a couple of reasons. #1 simply put, the quality of service, absolutely everytime I have visited caddilac cafe I've felt welcome. #2 the quality off food, best breakfast I have ever had, enouph said there. #3 value cost me just a couple of dollars more than a lousy breakfast at dennys or some place like that

There is a reason you will wait during prime brunch times on weekends. THE FOOD. It is simply amazing which is why I'll come back again and again. Those who have a problem with the fun atmosphere probably don't know how to relax anyway. For a real treat, give it a try!

I have been here four times now, and I have had a wonderful experience each time. The food is unbeatable!!! The Hazelnut custard toast is great, the eggs and potatoes are always perfect, and the Mimosas are good and strong. I highly reccomend!!

the popularity of this place demonstrates the continuing absence of a mainstream american palate. i cannot describe the food nicely. while it's "executed properly" from its misery, the basic ingredients reek. witness the potatoe kibbles, coated in a flavorless red powder, what is it? its red, that's for sure. the decor will make you chuckle, as i think they intended, a "chuckling decor." pity the servers who are forced to wear bolo (!) ties.

Pros: apocalypse cafe

Cons: dog food, amusing decor, those poor servers

Over priced for average food. Have been to te new location twice. Waited forever food which was average at best. Both times the omelettes were rubbery and cold.

the new place is bigger, the servers are nice (most of the time) and the food is OK. But come on people it's frigging breakfast. Is this place really worth a 45 minute wait for a table than the slowest service this side of Bread & Ink??

Just visited Cadillac Cafe in their new digs. Had a most exceptional breakfast. The breakfasts at Cadillac have always been good, but I think their new kitchen lets them break out and provide, quite simply, the best breakfast in town. The new space looks and feels great, too!

The french toast is my favorite thing at the Cadillac, but the Picasso omelette is a close second. The staff is always friendly and the new building is fabulous. If you go on the weekend, try to get there early as the wait to sit down can often be 45 minutes and they don't take reservations.

The Cadillac Cafe has moved down the street to its new location.....and the food and service is just as great as before.

The new decor is really upscale, yet still retains the friendly atmosphere of the old digs.

Server are attentive, but not obsequious and the food is still top notch.

Arrive early and often.

I am visiting Portland for the second time and wanted to revisit the Cadillac Cafe.
First-- when did they move?
Second--the new location is beautiful.
Third--with the increased dining room is the kitchen big enough?

I was seated right-a-way but waited 45 mins for the Hazelnut French Toast. My waiter actually said there was a 'French Toast backup'

The food was excellent--again but the wait was too long. I don't have time to go back.
