I have been to other places, but I can honestly say that this is a wonderful place compared to others, lots of bustling and munching going on in here.

The restaurant is terrible in service, ignoring you even if you wave your hand in front of the server.\r

Food is also expensive with just so so quality.

There were a few problems that night, but our server apologized, explained, and made everything work.
A bit understaffed, but it never affected quality. Service speed was still acceptable. The servers do a great job of working together. Great teamwork.

The food was fantastic! The sushi chefs are all friendly guys, and funny too.

The prices are great. Plates on the track are about average prices, compared to the other popular places nearby. The menu has many options, but dont let the price scare you away. You get the right amount of food, and they use real crab in the menu rolls, not the imitation stuff they use on the track,

This is not a review of the supposed food that is served by this establishment. This is a review of the way I was treated last Saturday night.
I had a legitimate gift certificate, bought with airline miles, and decided to trek to the burbs with three of my friends to dine at I Love Sushi. Called on the way there, they said they had no wait. Asked if we could use our gift certificate, they said yes.
When we showed up, the place was about half full. I have worked at enough restaurants at that price point to know that four adults should equal about a $100 check with a $20 tip.
We were seated promptly, and immediately on the front page of the menu was a cheaply made paper insert that said "sorry no coupons on Friday and Saturday nights". Before we ordered, I asked again if our gift certificate would be valid. The server said "no, sorry, no coupons". So I clarified, it was not a coupon, we were not getting a discount, the establishment was not losing any money. They were still even guaranteed a full tip on top of the total price of the bill. I may have even been able to understand if there was a wait, but there was not. We ended up leaving, not because of the service, but because of the absence of it. To an establishment not willing to accommodate four adult patrons, shame on you, and shame on your business practices. It's too bad I will never go there again, and recommend that my friends do not go there, I heard your food was actually pretty good.

Cons: Not allowed to use them to dine

The food is ok that is why I say it is mediocre. My family will only eat there if we have some kind of coupon. As a matter of fact be careful with this place they keep changing to rules on use of coupons, thus sometimes they do not honor them. Therefore, we now show them our coupon before ordering, one time we had to leave their restaurant because they would not honor the coupon on a Friday night (the coupon did not exclude Fri/Sat). The parking is terrible, especially on Fri/Sat nights. Lastly, every time we go in we wait awhile to be seated, then even longer to get served. Why do we still go once in awhile? Because of the large discounted coupons we have found, otherwise I would never again step in to this nightmare.

My girlfriend and I arrived 7:30pm on a Saturday night and were seated promptly. However, once we received our water it took 15 minutes just to place our order. I would understand if the place was packed, however it was only half full.

After placing our order it took an additional 25 minutes to get our food. I found this unacceptable considering there were only 2 of us and we only ordered a few pieces of nigiri and 2 rolls. In addition, the tuna nigiri was somewhat fishy and very small.

The combination of bad fish and terrible service was disappointing.

It's an ok place for BASIC sushi, I could be wrong but there is no Nihonjin's (real Japanese) folks in the entire chef or waiter crew. Just a tad under average and cheap as usual. They have no understanding of goysa (potstickers) rice or miso soup. My guess is that it is another fake copy of a real Japanese sushi bar by another Asian family. Yes Asians, we Americans can tell you apart by your terrible attemps at copying real Japanese food

Living so close to I Love Sushi and driving by it often, it never occurred to my husband and I that a sushi place in Beaverton, located in a strip mall, with a hokey name for a restaurant would be worthwhile. So we would patronize other more popular sushi restaurants downtown and on "trendy-third" in Portland. But t his time we were being treated to dinner by friends and I Love Sushi was the restaurant they chose. My husband and I were so impressed by the food. The rolls I had were delicious and the nigiri my husband had was fresh and yummy. I am so excited that we now have a sushi destination in our own neighborhood! We'll be back!

This place used to be the one place I would go for sushi in Beaverton; back when it had bare bulbs for lighting and neo-junkical decor. Hakatamon came along, and I was happy to bounce between the two places (especially for Hakatamon's soba noodle soup). Back then, at I.L.S., the twin brothers/owners held down the fort and the food was good. They have recently undergone a re-vamping that includes fresh paint, cohesive decor, new lighting, increased prices, and new cooks. Visually, the place looks much better, but the food has declined and the prices have increased. I ate there last night with my family, and unfortunately it will be our last time there :-''( . The nigiri fish portions are much smaller. The tako was sliced about 1mm thin, this is laughable given the price increase. The maguro and sake are also much smaller than before. The uni was fresh, so that was a plus. A large Sapporo is now $7.50 if I recall, which is ridiculous. The spicy seafood udon soup was not good. The soup base was very bland. It lacked any kimchi heat or flavor, and had no bonito/kombu flavor. The seafood consisted of poor quality, frozen baby octopi and scallop pieces, 3 small clams, and one piece of oyster meat. But the coup de grace of our final supper at I.L.S. were their new "special rolls". Here is an example of caveat emptor: The new "Mr. Obama" (which should actually be named the "President Obama" now) and the lobster (claw) roll, are priced at $15 & $18 apiece! (yes, I should have asked the price first). Not only are they WAY overpriced, but the quality of the lobster was hypo-sub-par. It was watery, tasteless, and mushy. We did not finish either of the not-so-special rolls. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend I.L.S., which is a shame because they used to be good. Sadly, Hakatamon is now the only sushi restaurant I have to recommend in Beaverton.

There are three different waitresses working night shift. You don't want to order any foods from an old blonde woman because she is the one who gets all the negative feedbacks here. There is this one short girl(don't know what her name is); who is the youngest ,cutiest, quickest, and most friendly waitress here. Make sure order from this girl to avoid dissatisfaction of service. Everything else was just fine for me except for the rudeness of old blonde lady.

The sushi has been a little bit hit and miss. Some days it is very good and other days it isn't particularly fresh and tastes a bit fishy. There are other items on the menu that are more consistent. Service is also hit and miss when it gets somewhat busy. The prices are reasonable when the sushi is good.

Most horriable places I've ever been too. Very bad service with rude attitude. We had only 5 people and they put 20% tip on the bill automatically. Frankly speaking the service is not worth a penny of the tip. But we didn't bother questioning and just leave cash there like 1 dollar less than their bill.

Guess what happened!!!! the waitress followed our car and hang over our window to ask for that 1 buck!!!! Please do not go to this place for your own sake.

I am new to Portland, moved here from Colorado and was very excited about eating fresh sushi. This place had lots of rave reviews so we went there. I've had much better sushi in land-locked Denver. The sushi was very fishy, smell and taste. It was a cold night and they kept opening the side door and leaving it open, burr. I think the good reviews for this place are put in by the owner because there is no way people think it is that great!

We had lunch there today and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We both ordered Bento boxes which comes with 3 pieces of nigiri, miso soup, cucumber salad, california roll and 4 pieces of spicy tuna roll. First of all, it took forever before our order was taken. Even though bento box came with miso soup, we decided to order two extra soups so we can have one while we wait and the other with the rest of the meal. But we were served with 4 bowls of miso all at once. Then it was another 25 minutes before bento boxes came out. Three nigiri pieces were 1 salmon, 1 tuna, 1 cooked shrimp. I've never seen cooked shrimp served as part of nigiri in bento boxes. We asked waitress to substitute my BF's shrimp for another nigiri because he was allergic to shrimp and she said no and suggested that we exchange his shrimp for something off my plate (never experienced that before -- server suggesting how to fix situation when the fix should be obvious -- they substitute the item). When we asked for the bill, she made sure to check his plate to see if he actually ate the shrimp and made a comment that it was gone (none of her business, but I ate it). After lunch both of us had horrible stomach ache (but we didn't complain about anything before the food came out so it must be the quality of food). I must say that salmon piece tasted good and miso soup was good. California roll was worse than you can buy in pre-made boxes in grocery store. So was spicy tuna. Both didn't have good flavor and fell apart. I would not go back there again and I wouldn't recommend it to others. Very slow service, strange service and the food quality is not there. The only good thing is salmon but if that is all you are going to eat, you might as well just get it in Uwajimaya. We used to enjoy a quick meal in Sushiland but their quality has degraded so we are looking for a new place. However, comparing Sushiland to this place, I would choose Sushiland anytime.

Don't go there unless you want to spend the next 30 minutes in the bathroom!@!!

I went here for my very first sushi experience. It was wonderful and my boyfriend and I have returned many times since! The prices are reasonable for the size portions you get and the fish always tasted fresh. The folks that run the restaraunt are very friendly, but not terribly quick with service, which never bothered us since we enjoy the charming atmosphere and are never in a hurry to leave.

I highly reccomend this restaraunt to anyone who enjoys sushi and even those who don't as they have a pretty good selection of alternatives for those unsure of the sushi scene.

They definetely need to work on their customer service. The waitress made a mistake in our bill and denied to change it even after we pointed out her mistake. Too bad my husband already paid the full wrong amount before we caught the mistake and came back to point it out. She didn't even apologize!!

I've been going to I Love Sushi for about two years now. It's never been my favorite sushi spot but it's really close to my house, affordable, friendly, etc. The O toro situation has gone completely south in the last 6 months though, to the point that I either won't go there anymore, or just will not order their o toro.

I've ordered o toro 4 times recently, and each time it's been ice cold, tough, stringy, chewy and basically inedible. O toro should be the opposite of all of those! The first time it happened, we mentioned it to the chef who nicely comped us another order; unfortunately was as bad as the first. Because of my history with the place and my love of o toro, I kept giving it a shot, hoping it was just a fluke. After 4 times though, I think it's a trend. My theory: I suspect they are buying o toro and keeping it in the freezer for long periods, since they've always had o toro when I've been lately and it always is served near frozen.

I'd much rather have fresher, unfrozen o toro available intermittently depending on the market than this frozen stuff. I understand fish is frozen as part of its processing, but it shouldn't be served this way.

The other nigiri and maki items are tasty and reliable. I haven't tried the non-sushi menu items.

I tried I love sushi when I first moved to the neighborhood from California and I wanted to go back to Cali for good sushi!!
It's fast food sushi...cheap but same quality as Mc Donald meat! I found so much unchewable fat in the tuna to be grossed out and we couldn't even finish it! Go to Masu or Portland city grill or isakaya in Hillsboro...expensive yes, but worth it!

I don't understand why people like this place. The fish tastes like chlorine and is nowhere near as fresh as it could be. The prices are mostly comparable to other sushi places, but the quality is really substandard. We've tried a lot of sushi places and had some really terrible sushi - this isn't the worst of the worst, but it's getting there.

This place has some of the best sushi in town. Many people will define good sushi as "large portions," and that is plain silly. Good sushi is the right size, right cut, and right preparation. Size doesn't matter (well, nobody wants sliver sized slices). They have a good selection of creative rolls, and even have some cool Korean stuff like Korean Chirashi. The wait staff is nice (and cute!). The chefs are also very cool: if you want to chat they are open ears. But if you want to eat in peace, they will leave you be. The chef will always greet you and then say goodbye with a friendly "see you tomorrow!" Prices are very affordable. The setting is very casual.

Be sure to ask for green tea if that is what you want, because they will bring you Korean corn tea if you aren't specific (though corn tea is good too)!

A friend and I visited this restaurant after searching CitySearch for a new sushi place. Overall we loved the food, were disappointed with the service, and frustrated with our overdraft fees! Read on?
We visited on a Friday night and were greeted friendly and seated promptly. We ordered and were served quickly. We noticed that we were missing one of our sushi rolls and where unable to find our waitress to tell her this. She later came to check on us, and we let her know about the missing roll and asked her for another item. She repeated this back to us, and so we thought she understood. She shortly returned with just our second order, not the missing roll from our first order. We were annoyed and she was busy, so we didn?t complain. We were given our check later, and saw that the missing roll was on it, so we had to bring it up again. They apologized and, we asked them to split our check between our two cards.
A week or so later, I was informed by my bank that I had overdrawn my account. I was disappointed to see that I had been double charged by ?I Love Sushi? and therefore, had overdrawn the account. I was informed that I needed to confront the restaurant. I stopped by and let them know the situation and talked with the manager/owner over the phone. I asked him to call my bank and deal with them to rectify the situation. He did this, but also I received 4 phone calls from the restaurant asking me for my friend?s information because they had charged me twice instead of splitting the check onto two cards. They did pay my overdraft fees, but refused to refund my double charged amount until they got payment from my friend. I didn?t feel it was appropriate for them to ask me for her information, nor for me to give it and so chose to deal with my friend on my own.
It seemed that they could have eaten their costs at that point, rather than upsetting their customers any further because of there idiotic mistakes. I was very annoyed and disappointed.

This little place is tucked away, but worth turning into for fresh sushi. When compared to the few pieces of sushi that you can pick up at the markets in the deli area for $5.95, on average, it's worth the few dollars more for the larger portions that you'll get here. The non-sushi items are good too, and Korean-style ribs are delicious as is the Fire Cracker Salad (although priced a little spendy at $9.95). Please try the tofu beef appetizer. It's really delicious. And there are a few full-course menu items that you can get as an appetizer. You won't have to spend the money on a full meal, but you can sample the dish this way. I've been twice, and the first time service was great. The second go round the hostess plunked down our menus on the table without making eye contact or saying anything. Thought this was pretty tacky. Perhaps it was because I had asked not to be seated near the door (with a cold, cold night I didn't want the draft), and if there are tables available elsewhere, I'd prefer to eat my meal in a calmer locale (without the back and forth traffic of folks entering/exiting the restaurant.) This, however, is personal preference but I wondered if that prompted the menu toss down?? Anyway, it's a good place overall. Good value for the price.

This is a really great sushi joint for the most part. 4/5 times that I have been there everything was absolutely PERFECT. I recently went in to write a review for my new website critiqueing oregon cuisine and everything was spectacular except for one downfall - The rice on my rainbow roll had some kind of stange sauce on it that made a few of the left peices mushy. I think this is because we came in late. (Kind of considered rude in most traditional sushi joints) and they had to get rid of the last of the rice without making a bunch more just to finish one roll. While I understand this, they did lose a few points. All the rest of what we had was AMAZING. The gyoza was very tasty, fresh ingredients, and HOT off the grill. The 'hitchhiker' roll which is Salmon on top of a california roll with cream cheese in the middle, blew me away. The right side of the rainbow roll was exquisit as usual, but that used rice on the left bugged me! I suggest going earlier in the night for the freshest ingredients. Anyways, try it out! I highly recommend it and as everyone else has said the service is spectacular.

I love Sushi! And it's all because of this little hole in the wall cafe! When you walk in the sushi chefs all greet you like you are a long lost friend, the seating is fast, the service is great and most important...... the food is fantastic! (The sake wasn't bad either!) We tried a bit of everything. Everything was very fresh and tasty, the octopus was not tip top but everyhting else was great. My husband is a commerical fisherman and we are such fish snobs and believe me the fish was very excellent. The fish pond inside was really sweet too. enjoy!

People who dont think I love is the best in Portland dont know anything about sushi. they have the most creative and unusual maki. Freshest fish I have found in the area. Service is amazing. Sit at the bar and hang out with the nicest sushi chefs in town.

We got a large takeout order from I Love Sushi, and not only was everything fresh and delicious, but the order was correct...that hardly ever happens! Can't recommend actually eating in the restaurant since we didn't, but it looked like it was an average sushi spot (i.e., the atmosphere isn't what's attractive about the place, the food is).

The restaurant is owned and managed by two brothers who know every aspect of the restaurant business and truly love what they do which is serve superior Japanese and Korean food. They learn what you like instantly and remember you the second time you come in for another delicious meal. They have the freshest fish, imagination and best of all...your meal becomes a royal banquet. I've eaten here over twenty times. I plan to eat here another hundred times! The entire crew are so nice you don't want to leave the fantasy world of dining pleasure they create when you walk in the door at I Love Sushi. Go there as fast as you can... keep 'em in business. Lovable, talented knowledgeable restauranteurs like this don't just happen by themselves... You need to go there. Your entire being will walk away completely satisfied.

I tried this place 2 times thinking the first was just an off day but I was wrong. I eat sushi 2-4 times a month and this is probably the worst tasting sushi I've had. I wish it were better because its the closest to my house. They are however very nice as far as service.

The sushi is very good. My husband had the combination platter that had sashimi, california rolls, nigiri, chicken catsu and soup/salad. I had the maki tempura roll and it was all delicious. My 2 year old had the blukhogi of the kids dinner menu and it was big enough to feed an adult.
The Sushi chefs are very friendly and happy and made you feel comfortable. The place is very unpretentious and focus on sushi/food instead of getting drunk and partying. The prices are oh-so reasonable and we were very happy with our meals.

We've never understood why this place was so popular and rated so highly. Granted, we've only been there twice, but both times we were there, the food was tolerable at best, and the service TERRIBLE. It's expensive for what you get, and just not worth our time. You'd be much better off travelling north up to Star Sushi.

I Love Sushi is fabulous! I tried Sushi for the 1st time a couple of years ago here at I love Sushi, now I'm hooked. My all time favorite has to be Koji's on Macadam! I love sushi is my second fave!!!
John & Joe are terrific along with the rest of their staff!

While everyone raves about Saburos, here's a place with good sushi, reasonable prices, and most importantly, no waiting for a table. The portions might not be reminiscent of a whole fish on a piece of rice, but freshness and taste certainly rivals the competitors. Restaurant Murata is tops for Sushi.

Overall, not bad, but not good. After being "sold" on the Toro special, it became clear that it was probably more special a few days ago. The Tuna was low quality and the inside out rolls were made poorly.

The salad came with a creamy thousand-island type dressing, nothing like the traditional ginger dressing. The miso was sub-par.

Being lovers of sushi, my husband and I were ecsatic about trying this supposedly "one of the best" sushi places in town. We were immediately disappointed by the slow service (it took 20 extra min. for my husband's meal to come out after mine) and small expensive portions. I ordered the special variety sashimi platter, costing $16, and there was nothing special about it. My husband ordered the korean bulgogi meat dish, which was bland and not korean-tasting, AND most of his dish was salad.
We were both still so hungry after our dinner that we went to Owajimaya, bought fresh sashimi, and had a second dinner at home.
We decided never to go back to this place again! We prefer Mio Sushi or Sinju (or even Taco Bell) over I Love Sushi any day!!

The key here is TIMING, as the restaurant has numerous nooks for romantic couples. This is great at night but at certain times it is too crowded, and the ambience is lost. The staff is very friendly, I was greeted by the face of a smiling chef over the counter the minute i walked in the door. Food is delicious but a bit expensive. The best deal is the $15 sushi plate which includes lots of different kinds. Miso soup is good as well, only $1 a bowl! I recommend this place to anyone looking to try sushi for the first time, or couples or small groups of friends who already love it and need a new place to go to have some.

It won't be the most romantic sushi restaurant but surely it's the most fun/entertaining sushi place with the best sushi in Beaverton. The sushi maker is so fun, I recommend you sitting at the bar. Not only you will be entertained but also enjoy their great sushi varieties. And the waitresses are very nice and friendly, its like visiting your friends house. However, I gotta warn you that you should avoid their busy hours!!! Cuz you gotta wait long to be served.

Taste, atmosphere, service, and price; I Love Sushi is simply the best at them all! The sushi is always fresh and tasty. The chefs are not only great at making sushi but also entertaining, always offering up tasty specials. The service is personal and attentive. The cost is very reasonable, even when we eat until we feel we will pop. In fact, I rant and rave about I Love Sushi so often my father and grandmother decided to try them. While they do not like sushi, they found plenty of other Korean and Japanese delights on the menu and loved the chefs.

The fish was fresh...which saddly, can not be said of many Sushi places in portland. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. It is a bit of a hidden gem because of its location in Beaverton, but a strongly encourage anyone who enjoys sushi to check out I Love Sushi.
