4 Stars: Rewards Program (by KA11)

I have been staying at the Paramount Hotel for business trips. They are only two blocks from Nordstroms and across the street from the Fox Tower. I travel a lot and the rewards program is great! I get my Alaska points for everything I purchase at the hotel! Plus, they have everything ready for me at check in! If you are traveling to Downtown Portland, this is the place to stay!

4 Stars: Good place! (by Ashley K.)

We stayed here the night after our wedding, it was within walking distance from our wedding site. The rooms were beautiful and the jacuzzi tub was so good after a long day. The room service was good and the staff was professional and courteous!

2 Stars: Blahhh (by Desirae Y.)

Biggest, dullest boutique hotel rooms in town. Creepy big and boring dull. If sheer square footage is your goal, this is your hotel - otherwise, keep shopping.

2 Stars: Disappointed (by T W.)

When we got to the hotel, they did not provide us with the suite we requested. After making the change, we noticed that there was no significant difference between the two rooms besides the style of bath tub. This was disappointing. The rooms were very small and rather uncomfortable. The bathrooms even felt a little dirty. They did have great restaurants located on the main level of the hotel, but as for the hotel, we had no desire to hang out in our room. We would not stay there again.

4 Stars: Perfect Relaxing Weekend! (by AnnaBat)

My husband and I stayed at the Paramount last weekend for our anniversary and had a fabulous time. We booked the "Romance in the City of Roses" package and loved it. There were lots of cute little gifts placed around the room when we arrived: roses, chocolates, special bath salts and lotions, a gift certificate for breakfast, etc. A few minutes after we settled in, the front desk called to make sure that everything was okay and asked if there was anything else we needed. They were very prompt responding to our request to bring up a few robes. Our room had a great outdoor patio, which was a nice touch. The view wasn't great, because we were only on the 2nd floor, but that's my only complaint! We ate dinner in the lounge at Dragonfish downstairs, and it was outstanding. I loved the jetted tub and glass shower in our bathroom, too. I thought that the King-sized bed was fantastic, but my husband complained that it made his back sore. I did notice that our credit card was charged an additional $50, but when I called they were very polite and friendly in explaining it to me. They explained that they charge everyone an additional $50 at check-in, and it gets refunded a day or two after you leave (which it did.) Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be back!

5 Stars: Fabulous Hotel (by ryan2000)

The Paramount Hotel is wonderful! I had the best stay while at their hotel. I was in town for a wedding and enjoyed that the hotel was in walking distance to everything...shopping, entertainment and restaurants. The happy hour in Dragonfish was quite tasty, I highly recommend. The bellman and front desk were very helpful in giving us direction and recommendations on where to eat during our stay. The accomodations were great, really liked the glass shower...unexpectant upgrade than most hotels. Next time we are in Portland we will stay again at the hotel!

1 Stars: Not a good experience (by alis78)

Ugh...we just stayed at this hotel. First and foremost, check in is at 4pm on weekends and checkout is at noon. The people checking in next to us at 4:30 were told that their room still wasn't ready and it would be 20 more minutes. While they promised a king size bed, they delivered two "queens.". When we asked about this they said these rooms are the same price and therefore equivalent. We booked throught the "big deal" website and our room was supposed to come with free breakfast or 7.50 per person off of breakfast. They only gave us one ticket and we had to ask for the second one. When we picked up our car from valet it reeked of smoke. No individual incident was that big of a deal but altogether, it made us mad that we spent a fair amount of money on a hotel that is seriously lacking in the customer service/attention to detail department. Go to the dragonfish for drinks and sushi, but stay somewhere else!!

3 Stars: Great Hotel (by jsmith_24)

I love this hotel! They have a great happy hour in the lounge with bargin priced sushi and lively atmosphere. My room had a glass shower and jetted tub which was a nice upgrade from most hotels. This hotel is in walking distance to everything...shopping, restaurants, movie theatre across the street. The bellman and front desk staff were all very helpful and friendly. I felt at home staying at this hotel and look forward to coming back soon!

3 Stars: Boutique style?! (by n750il)

ok, so how does this hotel, part of a giant hotel group called Coast Hotels, which specializes in historic properties, qualify this as a botique hotel?
and if this is, what isn't?
It's definately not historic, it is not one-of-a-kind and it is made of stucco, think Disney Botique.

3 Stars: Clean place to stay, but there are much better places for the money you pay. (by daytrip)

The rooms are nice enough and the hotel is kept clean. The staff seem to be lacking in the customer service department, unfriendly front desk, and a lazy door man. You will get a 6:30 am wake up call, like it or not from the construction going on directly across the street. Overpriced for what it is.

2 Stars: Dissapointing, and impolite staff! (by sybersprite)

This hotel is in the heart of downtown Portland, right where we needed to stay. We were excited to stay in a "luxury" hotel, a special treat. Unfortunately, right from the start we noticed annoying little problems. The room was very nice, with a nice large bathroom and spa tub, and the mattress was good too. However, we were given a room directly across from some major construction in the city. It would have been polite for them to at least warn us about that - we shouldn't expect to sleep in past 6:45am because of the noise. Then, we find out that in order to get Internet in the room, you have to pay $10 for wireless for every 12 hours. So, if you want to use Internet from 11am until 3pm, you have to pay $20! They do have a business center downstairs, but there are only two computers and they are almost always in use (undoubtedly because of the ridiculous fee). The rooms have no ethernet port, so you either pay, or wait in line at the business center. How ridiculous! Every Motel 6 in the country has free ethernet in room, or even free wireless! We decided to just use dialup from our room, since you can get free dialup. However, then we find out that LOCAL phone calls cost 75 cents each. We haven't had to pay for a LOCAL call from a hotel room since 1983! Then, at one point during our stay, we got "stranded" at a restaurant because my credit card was declined. I was so confused, as I knew I had more than enough for our entire trip. As it turned out, the hotel not only put a hold on the funds for our room, they put an additional $75 PER NIGHT hold (in case we trash the room??), which they DID NOT tell us about when checking in. I asked my friend who also had a room there, and they didn't tell her about this either! It was such a mess. After a big discussion and quite some upset, they made it right, but it was just the last straw. There's other hotels for the same price downtown. Not worth the hassle. Stay somewhere else!

5 Stars: Really nice hotel, friendly staff, great location, free internet (by annewicke)

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and had a really great time. The staff was very friendly and professional, the dragonfish happy hour was fun, hotel was really clean. We liked using their free computers downstairs to check our favorite citysearch to see what there was to do around town. We have nothing bad to say about this hotel and will definitley stay there again when we return to Portland!

5 Stars: Girls Night Out (by tealeeves)

We stayed here for a night out- one from Bend, one from Forest Grove, one from Longview- all of us well traveled. LOVED IT!!! Everyone was so wonderful. The concierge and desk receptionist happily advised close places for a quick bite - when they could have easily snubbed our request because we weren't going to Dragonfish! They called ahead to the restaurant we chose and asked if there was seating for us. Once there- they sent over a lovely appetizer for us. Amenities were substantial- though we didn't need to indulge. The proximity to everything was great- shopping at Nordy's, Starbucks and Pioneer Place. The valet was a bit spendy ($23), but worth it downtown on a friday night. I will recommend this place to all of my friends and family!! Thanks Paramount and especially Jamie!!!

3 Stars: I expected more (by yslandgyrl)

The room itself was nice enough despite the stains on the carpet and a television that wasn't functioning properly nor did it allow us to utilize the in-room movie options. The front desk clerk couldn't offer any solutions. We had breakfast in the Dragonfish resturant, which is very sleek and beautiful provided you don't look up...massive dust. The comment card I sent wasn't responded to. On a scale of 1-10, I expected an 8.5 but instead got a 7.0

3 Stars: Beautiful Hotel! Too bad the staff stinks! (by genestra)

Beautiful rooms, lovely view, the tubs are great and the Hotel is spotless.
Those are all fabulous qualities, but about 90% of the ambience comes from the staff and that was lacking during our weekend stay here at the Paramount.

5 Stars: PRETTY GOOD OVERALL (by portland_mike7456)

I took my fiance here for our engagement celebration and the reason I chose this hotel was the "oversized jetted tubs" in each room. The location is nicely situated in downtown Portland and there are many conveniences surrounding the hotel. The only negative comment that I would make is that the a/c was not functioning properly and made our room slightly muggy. Go to this hotel if you are looking for a romantic night.

5 Stars: Excellent Service (by clindsey14)

I stayed at the Paramount for just over 9 months when they first opened about 4 years ago. As a constant business traveller, I still rate all my hotels since on the amenities, service, location, and overall value that I encountered at the Paramount. I can't say enough good things about the staff at the Paramount hotel. If you are a business traveller and you are going to be in Portland, the Paramount is an excellent choice.

1 Stars: UNHELPFUL (by binderathegreat)

I was disappointed in the service, hotel and the hotel staff. The desk clerk was rude and was frustrated at my request for 2 door cards. We arrived in the room (an hour after we arrived having spent most of it waiting for a valet, and waiting in line to check in)and discovered 2 queen beds, instead of 1 king. When I called down to ask for a different room, the frustrated clerk informed me that this was a common complaint, when I asked what the remedy was, he informed me that they tell people to not book on-line. Our hotel room looked straight into the parking garage across the street, and the heavy curtains did not even close. At check out the desk clerk accused me of taking the basket in which our room never had. The hotel staff was rude, uncaring, and unhelpful. never responded to my emails.

3 Stars: OK if you get a good price... (by MaddySeattle)

The rooms are spacious and clean, but seem somewhat boring and uninterestingly decorated. The bathrooms are nice if you get a king with a separate tub and shower. The beds are like hardwood compared to the Westin, but overall the hotel is well-located, comfortable and a good deal if you get a good rate.

1 Stars: no class, and my hash browns were Grey (by toothman)

I might as wel stayed at SuperEight! Who was rating this place, the managers Mother?! My girlfriend and I were at the Paramout for a few days over new years. The hotel was offering a package for New Years. When I arrived there was no valet. So I park my own car, no big deal easy to park in Portland. Most nice hotels in any city I been to have door men (no doormen) even at less expessive places. For hotel with such great ratings you would think they would have a door man? Later that night I call the Conciega to ask about a restaurant, they never called back. There bar sucked No Service again. All the New Years Packages consisted of was two bottels of water and a couple of NO-DOZES and cheap chocolates. For 200 a night?

5 Stars: Fabulous! (by Elizabeth73)

We planned a weekend with a group of friends to stay at the Paramount Hotel for a weekend getaway from Seattle. It was the perfect choice in a city full of many good choices. The staff was so attentive and helpful in their recommendations. The bar was a perfect spot to relax and get some appetizers & cocktails. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The location can't be beat. It was so nice to come to Portland and not have to drive around, we could walk to everything we wanted to go to. I couldn't imagine an nicer weekend at a nicer hotel. Thank you!

5 Stars: Service at it's best! (by D_Lowndes)

We stayed at the Paramount last week, for a wedding that we attended, and everyone was so friendly and accomodating! We got in late because of airline problems, but they were very accommodating in getting us room service at 10:30pm -- amazing! The front desk staff was very accomodating, and helped us with all of the extra baggage that we had for the wedding -- overall, it was a great experience!

4 Stars: Plan your next meeting here (by SueOstermann_Citysearch)

I organized a company conference at the Paramount and both the price and services were excellent. The events planner was enormously accomodating and organized. Highly recommended.
