Our family has eaten at Mo's for years. It is not as good as when Mo herself was alive but definitely worth trying while on the waterfront in Newport. It was orginally opened to serve the fisherman and workers on the waterfront. While they have opened others in visiting cities along the coast the original one in Newport is still the best.

I grew up in Waldport so whenever we visit we MUST eat at one of the Mo's and have their clam chowder. Now, the chowder has changed a bit since I was a little girl but it's still great. Be aware that Mo's is usually very busy and seating is limited. We eat here and then walk along the warf. I highly suggest anyone visiting Newport take a few hours to do this.

I would encourage any individual to visit Mo's while they are on the Oregon Coast. It really finishes the experience. It is locally owned and small scale business. They have great customer service. While you eat you can relax while watching the fishermen.

People who go to Mo's don't go there for a chic exterior. This place has lots of charm, right on the waterfront. The chowder is good and the experience is like no other.

Mo's Annex is most assuredly the red-headed-stepchild of the Mo's conglomerate on the Oregon Coast.

I cannot justify a 30 minute wait for watery clam chowder (containing NO clams), nasty-soggy garlic bread, lukewarm beer, fishy tuna salad, and horridly mushy fish tacos. I was confused as to why this spot has a better location than the original "Mo's" across the street (which also had a very long line outside the door, don't ask me why). The interior at Mo's Annex was cramped, hot and smelly, with no shortage of screaming toddlers splashing in their soup and saltines. Not the soul-soothing "Mom and Pop" joint all the local papers make it out to be.

The only benefit of the doubt I can offer is perhaps the original Mo's location has a different menu offering, better and faster service, cleaner facilities and improved execution overall.

Pros: Good location - IF they took advantage of it.

Cons: Everything else

The view is amazing - you can watch fishermen on the bay brining in their fish. The bay is also just beautiful. The food is decent, though the group I was with noticed that the clam chowder here was just being reheated in the microwave. Kinda takes away from the whole "best clam chowder around."

Our server seemed rushed, like we were an inconvenience to her. Wasn't exactly service minded!

Serves same food as Mo's, just with the view. This annex restaurant is very crowded during lunch, and lines sometimes extend out the door.

We used to love Mo's for its famous clam chowder--we took almost all of our out-of-town company there, in fact--but lately, it just seems to be sliding downhill. The service is getting really, really bad (during our most recent visit, it took thirty minutes to place an order and another thirty to be served, our drinks were never refilled and it was almost impossible to get the check). Even worse, the clam chowder no longer has any flavor, and the same can be said, alas, for everything else we've tried. And it doesn't matter which Mo's we've gone to, they all are equally lacking. What a shame.
