Paid $55 for one of their new stylists (this was their lowest price), and learned that this was the stylists first job after beauty school (which she said she hated and thought about dropping out several times). Went back one week later

Dear Ross and Liz,

It's the best cut and color I've every had! I came to you with a picture and an idea, and you came out with better than the picture. The cut and color is glamorous and easy. If anybody has to look good by 7 a.m. you

After hearing mixed reviews... I decided to give toni & guy a try. I was in search of a new cut and quality color and wanted a little more of an edgier more stylish cut.

Great experience and for a reasonable price!
erin cut my hair. She's more "junior" as far as rate, but she's really great. I wanted a fairly edgy angled bob....something you can't just trust to anyone (or else you'll end up with mom hair) and she completely understood what I wanted to a T. Looks great.

grey did my color, he corrected the brassy blonde tones left over from the previous color I had, and brought me to a VERY natural light brown and then balayaged my highlights in to look sun-kissed I will be seeing both of you two again!

I've tried a number of salons since moving to portland with overpriced, mediocre results. I'll never go anywhere but TG from now on. I am so glad I found gray. He is incredibly talented! I've seen him twice, once for full balayage and just recently for partial balayage. Under his guidance I'm embracing my natural color and have been delighted with the results so far.

My current look is a natural dark blond with highlights painted on. I can't wait to see it grow out. The best part of balayage (done well, that is) is that rather than becoming increasingly annoyed as your roots grow out, instead you'll see that your hair just looks better and better as the weeks go on. As a former highlight addict I can't tell you what a relief it is for my psyche and finances to actually be HAPPY to go longer between appointments.

gray is truly a strategic thinker, with impeccable technique and vision, and you WILL get your money's worth. He works with you to make a plan for your hair and applies the color in a customized and always-flattering way. I can't say enough good things.
the only downside is that after you get your colour you have to pay for a blow dry, but other than that it's wonderful!

I have to compliment Diane. She is the best stylist that I have ever come across. I am so picky and never happy with the outcome. But Diane changed that for me. I called to make an appt. yesterday and she is gone. They wouldn;t tell me where she is, so if anyone out there knows, please pass that info along.

I have been going here for 6 years. Last time I got my hair cut done by Jaquiline..I don't know how to spell her name right but anways it was a great cut. She did exactly what I wanted and I am very picky about what I want. The only con was that I was late to work because she took so long cutting it. Normally it takes 1-2 hrs but this time it took 3 and I wasn't expecting that. She did do a good job though and told me she was sorry she made me late to work. At least when I got to work everyone complimented my hair! I would go back again but not so sure after reading all the great reviews about Blades!

Yes, it is spendy, but you gotta realize that these are professionals who go through constant education and updates on current fashion and techniques. I trust my stylist with my hair and am confident with her skills. For me the price is just right. If you can only afford $20 go to super cuts but don't be surprised when your hair looks choppy and crappy. If you want your hair done right the first time, go to Tony and Guy. They know what they're doing. I ask for some complicated styles and they only charge me $55. If I asked for the same style in the pearl district or on 23rd, they'd charge well over $100.

I had great color and highlights done by Ceanna about a year ago..when my roots were in dire need of a touchup I went to a salon closer to home. Let's just say that was a mistake! I learned my lesson and will only go back to Ceanna for color she is awesome!

Pros: wonderful stylists, clean, nice receptionist

Cons: far from home

First off

What kind of CLOWN do they have working the front desk?! I believe his name was Blake or something, but when I called to schedule an appointment a couple of weeks ago, he was very rude and seemed as If was a bother. When I finished making an appointment he just hung up. No "goodbye", nothing! When I arrived later that day for my appointment, he seemed too buried in a magazine to notice that I had been standing at the desk for a few minutes. He checked me in and told me my stylist Aaron (it's a girl) would be a minute. While I was waiting Blake was arguing with his father on the phone! And cursing like no tomorrow! Are you kidding me?!
Anyways, Aaron cut my hair. It was alright I guess. she was nice though. Extremely nice and talkative which made my day a little better. But she thinned my hair out way too much and now it looks frizzy. I don't think those special thinning scissors should ever be used on medium length hair.
Overall, I don't think I'll be coming back. They need to do something about the front desk situation because it made the 3 of us customers extremely uncomfortable. And I expected more from a manager because the cut really wasnt that spectacular.

Those of you who are color clients of Daniella's, she has moved. Daniella is now at KOiPOD on SE 34th and SE Belmont. Toni & Guy may or may not give this information to you although they are supposed too. I just got my color from Daniella done today at KOiPOD. It is a much better environment and in a cool part of town. Check it out!

So I've been to several different salons in the area and none, unfortunately, have been able to give me exactly what I wanted. I may be one of those clients that many stylists fear, because I'm definitely picky and I always have a solid idea of what I want and expect. My first visit to the Toni & Guy salon in Lloyd Center was absolutely amazing, I must say. The front desk staff was MORE than pleasant and polite. While I was waiting for my stylist, Anna offered me a beverage, and chatted with me. My stylist was an extremely polite and personable young man named David. At first I was a little hesitant since he seemed so young. Immediately I asked how long he's being cutting hair. Surprisingly, he's been doing hair for about 5 years and is a recent transfer from Colorado. He sat me down for a thorough consultation. It's like we clicked instantly. I told him what I like and didn't like and he threw back ideas as well. I had no hesitations after that. After a lovely shampoo (by the way David gave the BEST scalp massage I've ever experienced) he started doing his thing. The result was exactly what I wanted. He even gave me recommendations on products to try at home to help achieve the same look (we all know it'll never look as good as they did it).Toni & Guy is definitely my stop from now on. It's definitely worth the time and price. $50 for a cut? Not bad at all. Especially since they won't mess it up.

This is a great place! I have told ALL MY FRIENDS about it! I have been looking for a salon with a focus on SERVICE. They know how to service a customer! And the prices are low low low! I had a very outdated haircut when I went in and when I came out I looked like a winner. Brian Kastel

That seems kind of odd, because the male receptionists I dealt with were extremely pleasant, polite, and funny. They made another rainy day in Portland less dreary. If you ideate as well as you write, then I assure you your opinions mean nothing to them. How can your review be taken seriously when your grammar is on par with that of a juvenile?

The stylists here are awesome as well; I have never had a bad experience. If you need your make-up done or eye brows waxed, make sure to ask for Caprice. If you are polite and patient, then others will be the same way in return. Unfortunately, some reviewers lack experience and understanding. It is a shame that society is losing its most simplistic values. There should be zero reason for anyone to have a bad experience at this Toni&Guy location.

I also had a bad experence with a male receptionist a while ago . After reading someone elses review about a male receptionist on here I felt compelled to share my experience although I think it was a different person becuz his name was Mart. I called in to make an appointment for a color and haircut appointment and the first 2 times I called noone answerred. When I called a 3rd time a man answered and put me on hold and after being on hold for at least 5 minutes (Im pretty sure he forgot I was still on hold( I hung up and called back. He finaly answerred and we set up my appointment for about 2 weeks later. Becuz it was taking him so long to make my appointment for color and a haircut I decided Id just make the haircut appointment and then make the color appointment when I came in. I came in the day of my appointment and that same guy was there. I waited for my stylist for over twenty minutes and when she came up to me she said she was never even told that I was there,. Becuz she had another appointment in a half hour I had to reschedule for a different day. So the same guy made my appointment for a few days later but thank goodness when I came back there was a girl working who knew what she was doing. Her customer service was excellent and she was very helpfull and accomodating and answered my questions about hair products and after having to jump thru hoops to get help from the young man it was a releif to see that the staff there does care about their customers with the exception of that one person. I love this salon and the stylists there are amazing. My only bad experence with Tony and Guy has been with this 1 person but every thing else has been great.

I have been going to this Salon for over 7 years. I am VERY, VERY picky and I am always happy with the results! Breanne is very good with color. I change my hair color almost every month and my hair is still healthy, well as healthy as processed hair can be.

I have been with Toni and Guy since 2001 and have been thru many colorists because the colorists always either quit or moved out of state. Today, I called to get my hair done and the receptionist told me the times she has available and told her i will call back, and when I call back some nut case name blake answered the phone and i told him, i called earlier and calling to make an appointment to get highlights...he was talking to me like he was irritated and then i was explaining to him over and over and then he told me..."I don't understand anything you just told me, and i have a big line here...blah..blah.." Wow, this is a place where they always had nice receptionists but this guy...he is unbelievable...I told him that he was rude...and then he said, "then call the corporate office and make a complain and i don't care" and he hung up!...he wouldn't let me talk to anyone else....Wow, after 6yrs..I think i it's time that I find another salon....very dissappointing, that I was treated that way!! If you want good service especially if you are spending over $100 then go somewhere else.

I've been going to Toni and Guy Salon for haircuts for a while now at both locations and I have seen a variety of different stylists depending on what time I could go in and all of them have been great. Recently my stylist asked if I ever had done color which I've always been reluctant about, but a colorist consulted with me and I decided to make an appointment for color. I was very nervous about it and almost backed out at the last minute, but the colorist I saw named Breanne was so friendly that I decided to go through with it because she seemed so attentive and caring. I am so glad that I didn't back out because she turned my hair into a miracle! She put in a few different colors and it looks so great. It's fun and I get compliments left and right everywhere I go! I've seen Breanna a few times since then and have been very impressed each time. She is also funny and chatty which I like because going to the hairdressers can be akward if the stylist is quiet the whole time.

The only complaint I have is that it is sometimes really hard to make an appointment with Breanne because she seems to have a very busy schedule. It is 100% worth the wait though, and I recommend that everyone see Breanne at Lloyd Center. You won't be disappointed.

I searched for a great colorist and found one at this location. However, on my third visit, I was left in the hands of what I later found out to be a new shampooist. After my hair was highlighted and ready to be shampooed, I sat in the chair for about 10 minutes while he struggled to put on his gloves. Then, he took his time taking out the foil and finally washed my hair. The result? What was to be a lovely honey blonde turned out ot be fried white. When I returned the next day for corrective coloring, the colorist laughed saying that they had wondered what had happened to me, (I was late for the cut), and commented that they had talked about my over-processed hair. SO WHY DIDN'T THEY FIX IT RIGHT AWAY!!!!! Even with the corrective color, my hair is almost white and now in terrible condition. No integrity here. I will never be back..

I have been getting my hair cut at Toni and Guy for 5 years now and I absolutely love this place. They have the most knowledgeable staff. They are a hip and trendy salon and the stylist always know about the newest cuts and color. The prices are reasonable. I am always satisfied with what I get for my money. You will always get what you pay for.

I am not quite sure if Diane still works there, but I noticed in a previous review that she was praised. And she deserve another one. My overall experience with Toni & Guy is great because of Diane. She pays attention to what you need for your hair. And she does it exceptionally great. My first experience with her was a mere consultation. Unfortunately she was already book at that time. Yet I needed a haircut very bad, so she instructed the available hairstylist (I forgot her name) on what I need. The other hairstylist was great too! My hair turned out to be what I actually wanted. She offered a lot of advices, without the pressure of buying TIGI products.
I am currently trying out a different salon because the other salon offer a wide range of services. But if things will not go well, I will definitely go back to Toni & Guy.

Pros: Very personalized service.

Cons: Expensive but worth it!

I have long hair and get really exhausted talking the stylists out of cutting too much. By going to Rebekah for a few years my hair is longer than it has ever been, I get compliments EVERY day and the layers are gorgeous. Thank you Rebekah - you are the very best.

Pros: Convenient

Ive been in Portland about a year now, and at first came to Tony for convenience, but since moving from the townhouse, Ive continued to visit Tony for the minimal maintenance required for my hair for the sole purpose that theyve been predictable in their end-result--save for one stylist, who I was less than satisfied with but not angry about. Tonight Ive had yet another satisfactory experience. Tonys stylists--save for that one--have always clearly explained the products used on my hair, the strategy in design, and have instructed me clearly on how to maintain and style at home on my own. Free touchups and minor fixes are always offered--again, save for that one stylist. I always see whoevers available the day I have time to get my haircut.

Toni and Guy has this reputation of being an upscale salon. But i decide to try it anyway. The salon was very stylist, the atmosphere was industrialistic, with their minimalist decor. I was the only custumer there at the time. The hairstylists there are around thirty somethings and look experienced enough. I didn't ask for a price first and just tell them how i want my hair cut. It was really fast, i gotta say and the way the hairstylist work, i can see that she was relly professional because once i describe to her the style i want, she doesn't ask me a second time. I was satisfy and happy with my hair. Then i ask her how much was it and she said $25, which was more pricey than any other salons i have been to. I like the haircut, but the price just wasn't friendly. It's too upscale for me.

I went in, not knowing exactly what I wanted, but told the stylist what i wanted from my style. I left with a fantastic new style, my hubby said i look 10 years younger!! Thier products are top notch. The only downside is the cost. It is said you pay for what you get, this applies. It is spendy, but you do end up looking great.

PROS: Fabulous products, stylists that listen to you, fantastic hair
CONS: price

Based on my experience with this particular stylist, I was not satisfied. That's not to say the salon is bad, just the stylist who did my hair. I brought in a couple of picures of the style that I wanted and the stylist said she could replicate it. It wasn't quite what I wanted, but it looked good from what I could tell. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed that my hair was uneven. Trying to reschedule an appointment also proved to be an unpleasant experience with the rude girl at the front desk. Long story short, I went back and the stylist seemed irritated and wouldn't admit there was anything wrong with the cut. She re-did my hair, but it still doesn't look like she has the experience to create a cut that's outside the box of what she learned in beauty school. Deffinitely not worth the amount that I paid.

PROS: Lots of openings, convenient location.
CONS: Too pricey for their experience.

This is my favorite place to get my hair done. It is a little on the spendy side, at least $120 for a cut & color, but, they do such a great job that it is worth it! This is the type of place where you can walk in and just say "I'm bored with my look, make me pretty", and they actually will! They take a ton of time and make sure you are happy, if you're not, they will do a free recut or touch up, or whatever you need.

Normally I'm not an upscale hairdresser sort and I came across this salon as a hair cut model. But I shall indeed return...The shampoo was a fragrant, thorough scalp massage. I was offered water, coffee or tea and given a haircut which would frame my features most appropriately.

PROS: Staff are creative and artistic
CONS:

I have been a customer here for a long time. Whether it's a cut, color, trim or eyebrow wax, I have never been dissapointed. I am so thankfull I found Diane, my hair has never felt and looked better. I never thought I would spring for a 40+ dollar haircut, but I can definitly see what I am paying for. Diane is a true master in the art of hair. I know she is taking some time off soon to get married, all I can say is she better come back! I would be lost with out her! Also, I must add that Jenna is the Queen of Eyebrows...Stick with these two and you will be gorgeous for life!

I just moved here from Newport Beach and have always had my hair cut at Toni and Guy Salons. I hesitantly called the Lloyd Center Salon to make an appointment because I thought I was spoiled by the great cuts I got in CA. I shouldn't have hestitated because it was fabulous experience.
I had my hair colored by Jill and cut by Dillon. I have extremely hard hair to cut and the style Dillon suggested and did is wonderful!
My hair has never looked this good!!
