This is "kind of" a review. That is to say, I didn't actually get a haircut there. I tried though.

So I walk into this place around 2:30, one Saturday afternoon. I see one barber cutting one customers hair. No one else in the place but me, those two, and a bunch of empty chairs to sit in while you're waiting. I take my jacket off and hear "Excuse me sir, do you have an appointment?" I reply that I didn't. "Well I'm sorry sir, I'm booked over capacity today. I could try to fit you in next week if you want?" I reply no thanks and leave.

So here's my beef: This is a "BY APPOINTMENT ONLY" barber, and I only find this out when I show up at the place? I guess I should've called beforehand. But, Judas Priest, I have to call a stinkin' little, half-assed, rundown, barber shop ahead of time to see if they can fit me in their schedule sometime next week for a $12 haircut? What's next, calling the gas station ahead of time to see if they haven't run out of gas?

But hey, he must give good haircuts at a good value to be in a situation where he goes by appointment. But anyhow, now, you've been warned. This isn't a standard barber shop where you can walk in whenever you want.

And I gave them a NOT RECOMMENDED rating purely because they're a dinky little, inexpensive, barber shop that requires appointments. Now, on the other hand, if the the owner would have named the place the "Laurelhurst by Appointment Only Barber Shop", I wouldn't have had a problem. (But, that title would've been bad for business, I imagine.)
