I'm 9 months pregnant and went here for a spa pedicure, mostly just for the leg and foot massage. The pedicurist refused to massage me at all because I am pregnant saying it could cause me to go into labor. While I understand her

I have been a customer of Portland's Hottest Nails for more then two years now. They always greet you as soon as you walk in the door. I always specifically have my mani/pedi's waxing, and my newest addition "eye lashes" done by DeAnne.

I've been a customer for over three years and could not be happier with the service. If I suddenly decide it's a good day for a mani/pedi, I can usually get an appointment the same day (I prefer the same technician). Walk-ins are no problem. The staff is genuinely friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great place to chill and pamper yourself.

I have been frequenting Portland's Hottest Nails for more than 15 years... I had been to other nail techs & shops previous to that, but once in this door, never considered going anywhere else. I send all my friends here. The skill level is very high, and my nails always last for weeks. Previously they would lift or break or grow out with noticeable bumps at the grow-out line... since coming here, my nails are sophisticated looking, the grow-out is amazingly smooth, and any of the very few times I've needed a repair, I am served swiftly and efficiently with a smile. I can go 3 or 4 weeks between fills if I need to... (though I would not recommend it for optimal beauty : ) I LOVE the whole bunch!!! They have a standard, and they keep it high.

I've been going to Portland's Hottest Nails for over a year. My husband has been, too, several times. Although I generally make my appointments with Deanne (who's fabulous!) we've always been treated fairly and with friendly service from all the staff. When I've asked questions about a process or a price, I've been answered directly. I'm wondering if DancingButterfly has this salon confused with another. Or if DancingButterfly is just confused -- as I've never heard of any acrylic or solar nails lasting six months -- one's own nails would have grown out entirely by then.

I do agree with DancingButterly on this issue: be informed -- good advice in general. And I would add, don't be afraid to ask questions.

referring to dancingbutterfly:

i personally suppose you dont know much about the business. there is a different between regular acrylics and solar nails, but obviously you dont have an idea of its significance. yes solar nails has a process dealing with powdered and yet also does acrylics. they both require powder. so where ever you are going that tells you acrylics dont need powder is wrong. in my opinion, the process of getting complete with a set depends on the nail tech themselves. i have tried many different nail techs, and their speed varies. and no artificial nails of any kind that will last six months. even a kid will know that theory. portland's hottest nails dont cheat anyone, they charge by what they can offer and give out the best experience a client asks for. maybe you're just confused about what you wanted and make a wrong judgment. they tell the truth and advice in which a professional nail tech would do in order to satisfy the client's needs.

and for whom is supporting portlands hottest nails, that is very appreciative.

I used to go to this place for solar nails. I didn't know any better. Came to find out that they were not really giving me a solar nail, although they were charging me for it which is very expensive. They were just giving me just a regular acrylics, and telling me it was solar nails. Cheaters, in my opinion. I've been going to this new salon, who actually showed me what a solar nail is. Solar nail takes along process, there's powder involved, there's scraping, drilling and buffing involved. My solar nail now usually lasts me six months. At Portland Hottest, my nail only lasted two or three weeks.
Be very informed before going there, because they won't tell you the truth.

This is only my second time getting nails done and I' ve only know three nail salons including this one(I went to one more to get sculpture and another to get sculpture off), but since the service was so great, I will no longer look for another salon.

I have got solar pink-white french(probably with acrylic base), but compared to my first acrylic sculpture experience, it was far far better!!!
The very first nail salon I went was in Walmart(Vancouver, WA) and the experience was horrible.
It did not worth what I paid for AT ALL.
However, the Portland's Hottest Nail totally worth more than you pay.

I paid 46+tips and solar full set is $45.I had to pay extra $1 for files.
The nail tech was friendly, skilled and has good work ethic (I felt that he is truly a professional).
I can choose my length and shape(square or round) of the nail, and I was so picky about how my nails would be done, but nail tech actually will and can do the nails as I wanted.
He gave me nice and short natural acrylic nails.
My fingertips were intact after all of the filings, which I did not get it at Walmart.
I got bulky, long nails with bleeding fingertips and the tech wasn't even sorry for that!
She wore the gloves and her gloves were torn apart as my fingertips...But nail tech in PHN did not even wore gloves and he was OK with that.
Well, it may just be the difference in requirements of the states, but there is clearly the differences in skills, the attitudes towards the customer and how to handle their body parts with care.

The price range is lower than other salons that I went.I paid $30 to take my last nails, but it only costs $10 at Portland's Hottest Nail! They also provide wide variety of service includes facial and waxing.
I live in Gresham and I have to take a bus to get there, but I think it definitely worth it.
I'd like to try out some pedis and manicures in some special occasions or to treat myself!

After trying many other salons in the Portland area, a friend recommended Portland's Hottest Nails. I have been a customer for over ten years and have recommended them to everyone that has admired my solar nails. Deanne is the best and always remembers exactly how I like my nails done. She finally talked me into getting a pedicure after years of doing my own and now I'm hooked. I love the pampering and the heated chairs with massage are amazing! I know you will be as happy as I am with your nails!!!

Portland Hottest Nails Rocks. I have been a rather faithful customer since 2001. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and kindness. In return, I get nails that are perfect! The polish lasts for forever on my toes! I wear sandals constantly during the spring/summer/fall, and am very hard on my feet. Sure every once in a while you have to wait, ten minutes tops. Keep in mind if they are late getting to you that maybe the appointment before you was late, or the customer had more requests than they stated. No sense getting upset about it, after all you are getting some of the best pampering available.

The nail techs are on commission, if you want a more experienced tech, then schedule an appointment. I have yet to have a bad pedicure or manicure for that matter, no matter who has done my nails. If the new staff is inexperienced, how are they going to get experience if they don't have a chance? And if there was ever a time where something wasn't perfect, or if I smudge my polish, I just let them know -- no harm no foul. I have sat in the chairs long after my polish was dry, but I am also understand if there is a line of folks waiting for their nails to be done.

All I know is that I feel good when I am getting my pedi/mani and I leave there with a smile on my face. Its an affordable way to feel good about yourself, and have a good time with the stafff.

Customer service ... has gone rock bottom! I've been stewing on this for months after being a long time customer since 1997. Scheduled a pedi for myself and a friend July 5th. Had called the day before to schedule time, etc. When we arrived at the appointed time (when they opened) we could tell that 1/2 of the pedi chairs were filled, they were short staffed ... intentionally. They let people "walk-in" and were provided service before us.

One of the worker's said "you pick out a color and sit and wait." I said no, I don't think so and I will not be returning to your salon again! They have lost my business as this was not the first time I was asked to sit and wait after scheduling appointments ... sometimes waiting as much as 30 minutes.

No thank you. Now I have been exploring different salons along Hawthorne, Division and near where I work in NoPo ... having much more fun then going to the "cattle call" at Portland's Not so Hottest Nails! Try Spoil Me Nails & Spa, 503-288-3755 ... I was offered hot tea and water. Maybe this salon could teach your staff one or two things about customer service etiquette.

Happy Holiday's.

I have been going here for over 10 years and have always had a great experience. I will not go back again! The last two times, there were new techs, did not spend the time nor had the experience. Their rates have gone up but the final straw was 6/15/2008 where I noticed chairs lined up on both sides leaving no space to walk, poor service, AND they removed the drying booth. Forget it!!! Greed and a factory like atmosphere does not cut it Too Bad Soo Sad. Too many other great places. Anyone have any recos for Pedicures?

I chose this spot because of the good reviews and took a party of four. We won't ever go back. We had reservations and they were able to get us in right away though it was busy but, then we sat and waited for someone to do the pedicure. After they were done, they rushed us out, not even giving us time for our nails to dry. And, one day later the polish is already worn off on the ends of the toes. The woman sitting next to me commented that she had been there "forever." In the middle of her pedicure, the person doing it had got up and walked away to do someone elses and left her sitting. After 15 mins or so, she finally asked that someone come to finish hers. It was not a pleasant relaxing atmosphere or experience. There are too many places to chosein this city. I wouldn't recommend this one!

The people here are outstanding, they remember you and what you like or need. The atmosphere is very much like a family with the staff paying attention to doing a great job while you are having either a manicure or pedicure. I love the fact that they make both men and women feel very welcome and give both the same attentive service. I have been a customer for over five years and keep going back.

I have been going here for at least 3-4 years for pedicures and manicures. I went elsewhere once with a friend and paid nearly twice as much for a pedicure and it wasn't anywhere close to being as good a pedicure as PHN does. The staff has good attention to detail and gives a wonderful foot/calf massage for pedicures and a hand massage with manicures.

I've been going to this place for about 3 years, and the best part is the employees! If you take the time to get to know them, you'll find out they are lovely people! I also love the spa pedicure -- so relaxing! And everyone does a very meticulous job. My pedicures lost forever! One of my favorite nail technician is Sue.

p.s. I've never waited long when I just walk-in. Even if they look busy, more employees turn up out of nowhere in no time!

When I first came to Portlands Hottest Nails, I wasn't exactly impressed. This was back in 2000 but now they've got me hooked. Recently they went from having 2 pedicure baths to 9! The entire right side of the shop is all pedicure baths, these are the baths that you can sit down in and enjoy a special massage. Pedicures are not rushed and the tech's make sure to ask questions to make sure their customers are very comfortable. On the left side is stations to get manicures, gel, acrylic, etc and it's a little crammed but they have to work with the little space they have. Everyone is very friendly and thankful for your business. Whether you're dropping in or have an appointment, they will get you in right away. There's basically no wait.

PROS: friendly, can handle lots of customers at once
CONS: a little crammed

Portlands Hottest Nails has excelent prices and they do a great job. Its about 25 dollars for both manicure and pedicure (excluding french tips), and that's about the lowest price I've seen in a long time. The staff is well trained and they have a wide variety of polishes and they do acrilycs as well. For the price you pay, it's totally worth it!

I've gone to quite a few places around town and by and far I'm most impressed with Portland's Hottest. Heated and massaging chairs, great attention to your feet and calves (with good massages) and the nails look awesome. Parking can be a challenge, but there is an above the store lot that a lot of folks don't know about. Just drive up the ramp just to the west of the store and there's plenty of parking.
