I have never been compelled to write a review for any service I have received until now. I had such an incredible experience with Berg Car Company that I cannot praise them enough. Specifically I would like to thank Ben for taking the time to truly look out for me. I came in to see the 1989 Ford Bronco they had posted because I adore ridiculous, impractical cars. I needed a commuter car for a job that I just got. Ben helped me realize that though I loved this Bronco, it was definitely not a good fit for my needs. Instead he got me into a 1989 Subaru GL that made over twice the gas mileage and was less than half the price of the Bronco. I have been unemployed for 4 months and am truly almost out of money, but the job I got requires that I have a car. Ben worked miracles on my financing so that I could afford to buy the car, get insurance, and still have money for groceries until my first paycheck comes. He really is a lifesaver! He sent the car in to get a full check up and there were more problems with it than we originally thought. They fixed the starter, windshield wipers, and back brakes (none of which was agreed upon at signing) and they didn??t charge me at all. As if that weren??t enough, I have been taking the bus/max from Portland to Beaverton to get this car and each time I came Ben picked me up from the bus station. I ended up finalizing the sale after they had closed and Ben went ahead and took me home so I didn??t have to take the hour and a half commute after dark. What a guy!
I have not felt as taken care of by a business as I have by Berg Car Company. With my situation, I doubt any other car company would have even considered helping me. It just goes to show that there are still good people out there. When my car dies (which eventually it will because hello, it??s 23 years old) I will go back to Berg Car Company because I know they will take care of me.

The salesman tried to tell me that Kelly Blue Book pricing meant nothing, that cars only cost what people will pay, was ver abrasive, and then told me that if he knew we wanted to bargain from the beginning he wouldn't have wasted our time. The salesman was very pushy and rude.

I quickly decided that even if they agreed to sell the car at my bottom-line, I wouldn't have paid it. I didn't want to do business with these guys. I walked out and was followed out by the owner who then griped at me for my offer saying I was crazy.

They boxed our car and gave us a lot of attitude (the owner included) for asking them to move it.

Honestly, $5000 for a 98 Jeep with 134K miles, electrical problems, dents, a lot of scratches, and a HUGE gaping hole where a stereo used to be is a lot. Yet, Berg Car company feels that is a steal- and too low.

While doing an Internet search on autotrader for a 1990-1992 Range Rover Classic, i found what i was looking for at the Berg Car Company in Beaverton, Oregon. The next day i made contact with Ken in car sales. Very helpful fellow. For starters, i stated that the Range Rover posted was a good looking vehicle and the price was correct in respect to year, and mileage. I have previously owned Range Rovers, and had specific questions i needed answers to. Those answers and additional photo's were received promptly. All business with Berg Car Company took place over the phone and online. Why you say, because i live in Silver City, New Mexico. A few days later i flew into Portland. The sales staff even picked me up at my hotel on a weekend. All sales business was completed in an hour. One thing became very apparent after arriving at the Berg Car Company. These folks have an extensive inventory ranging from economy to luxury vehicles. I had searched the Internet off & on for a couple of years. Locating an old Range Rover isn't always easy to do. Some want an exorbinant price for the vehicle with low miles. Major issues are rust, body damage, and non-original modifications. That weekend, i took ownership of a 1990 Range Rover Classic in good restorable condition. Considering year, vehicle condition & price, i got a great deal. My Rover and i made the 1500 mile trip home without any problems. The vehicle was placed into the local garage for a safety inspection where the owner/ mechanic, told me i got a good deal. In sum, i enjoyed my experience finding my vehicle over the Web, traveling to the great state of Oregon, and a pleasant drive home. Thanks Ken & the folks at the Berg Car Company.

These guys stand out in the lot watching people go around their cars, which are parked ON THE SIDEWALK! Yesterday, I literally saw a two kids on their bikes enter Canyon Rd (against traffic) because the sidewalk was blocked.

When asked to move them they just laugh. Totally unprofessional and rude.

If you need any proof of how awful they are, just look at their lot. It's overloaded with cars because they cannot sell any of them. They have to place 4-6 cars on the sidewalk just to move one out. If you plan to test drive a car, give yourself about 1.5 hrs to get out of the lot.

I would strongly suggest buying from a more respectable company that cares about its community! Do not buy BERG!

These jerks park their cars in on the sidewalk preventing people with disabilities easy access to a safe sidewalk.

Police have issued several citations but they never change. GO TO A COMPANY THAT CARES ABOUT PEOPLE!

I found my dream car on the Internet at Berg Car Co. I spoke to the owner Neal Berg and his son Jordon. Both were very professional and helped me to get the car I have always wanted. The car was BETTER than I could have believed and is in perfect condition. I have never had a more positive experience buying a used car and I'll send everyone I know to see Berg.

We had the best car salesman, Brad. Very knowledgeable, not pushy. Great deal for our VW Passat. Car engine light on but contracted to fix it. Gave me a loaner car for the week (though expected to leave only for the afternoon). They sent my car to a German mechanic.. Only complaint, the mechanic was a little difficult to get a hold. I had to do most of the followup. Someone left scratches on the loaner car and Berg did not charge my insurance. They were all very nice men. Definitely would recommend buying your pre-owned car from them.

Just bought a car from Ken at Berg. He treated me nice and helped me pick out a 2001 Volvo. I got good service and could not be happier. Berg got me a better interest rate than I got offered at Beaverton Honda. Thanks to Ken who didn't NEXT me...

I recently purchased 2 vehicles from Berg Auto. Overall, I am very pleased with the service provided and would certainly recommend them to my friends and family. Additionally, I will undoubtedly look back to Berg if we need another vehicle in the future!

I can't really understand the negative comments I'm seeing as I experienced quite the opposite. If you're reading these comments to help make a decision, keep in mind that often times the only comments you'll see are negative and the happy customers never feel a need to comment. Well, I would like to say that I'm a happy customer with not just one, but two cars purchased!

If you're looking for a used car, Berg should be on the top of your list for places to check out. You won't be disappointed!

A big thank you to Berg! We just purchased a great little Toyota from them, and it was a good experience. We will definitely go back to Berg if we are in the market for a pre-owned vehicle in the future ?? it will be our first stop. They were honest, helpful, and followed through. We are pleased with the car, and very happy we found Berg.

We saw an online ad for a car at Berg??s and called for info. Being quite a distance away, we didn??t want to make a long drive to see a dented wreck. Jordan took our call, listened to what we really wanted, promised to check the car out and call back. He called back with a very honest report of the car??s condition, reporting a small dent and a blemish or two. When we got there, the car was actually in better condition that expected ?? what a pleasant surprise! We arrived at a fair price, and they sent the car to their mechanic to address a concern we had. They cleaned the car inside and out so that it looked new ?? and even included a couple of very nice touches like new floormats and wheel covers.

Berg is low key, low pressure. Not a new car dealership ?? certainly no glitz and glitter! But that??s all fine, we weren??t shopping in the new car price range. We wanted a good used car at a fair price, and that??s what we got. A shiny new showroom would not have improved the experience at all ?? but it probably would have cost us quite a bit more.

We had been shopping for our granddaughter??s first car for several weeks, on a tight budget. There had been several disappointing trips to see cars at dealerships and private parties, and we were discouraged. We found Berg just in the nick of time!

Killing some time online and decided to read some reviews on Berg Car Company, where I recently purchased a 1997 Honda Accord lx wagon. Great little ride! I'm not sure if all the vitriol I'm reading is the truth or a gutless competitor squeezing sour grapes, but I had an excellent experience with Berg Car Co.
I have sold luxury autos, and mid-priced used cars, which I was careful not to tell Brad, my salesman. I set him up with standard questions about 6 or 8 different rigs, waiting for him to lie to me or hard sell me. Instead, Brad was careful to point out to me that he wasn't showing me "perfect" cars- and any rig that I asked to be shown, Brad carefully told me everything that he knew was wrong with them: high miles, tired trans, worn out steering rack, missing or dilapidated interior items, etc. I had come looking for a Jeep Cherokee, but after Brad gave me its pedigree, I started looking at others. Brad never rushed me, pushed me or got impatient. He gladly hopped in a lot car and ran me up to another lot when I told him I was thinking station wagon. The little guy had 148K, check engine light was on, as was the SRS warning, and it had mismatched tires. I saw all this and said nothing. I didn't have to. Brad pointed all of it out to me, without being asked. When we came to price negotiations, Brad stayed right with me, not running back and forth to the office or to his "Sales Manager". We worked down to a number that left us about $400 apart. I actually would've given it to him, because he'd been so honest, friendly and helpful, but I was enjoying the process, so I agreed to go "Meet the boss." This is not a Lincoln showroom. It doesn't pretend to be, either. Mr. Berg invited me into his office, and proceeded to show me the carfax and his dealer invoice for the car, proving what Brad had told me about its price. I then made Mr. Berg an aggressive offer, allowing for some money to make the deal worth his while. I then sprang it on him that my offer was not all cash, but would require that he carry a small balance for me for 90 days. Mr. Berg shook my hand, thanked me for my business, and we made a car deal. A great car deal. That I felt good about, and he felt good about.
I will return to Berg Car Co. for my future auto needs, and unhesitatingly recommend anyone searching for a rig in the $10,000 and down bracket to shop there and experience what it's like to deal with honest, ethical gentlemen. Thanks Guys!

Very bad experience! I cant believe I purchased a car from them. They are exactly what they look like, they fit the used car salesman sterotype perfectly (just look at the state of their "office" and ask yourself if you want to do business them). I purchased a Eurovan camper from them. There were a few things wrong with it and I thought I got a good price but during the next 3 months I spent well over $1000 in repairs and still do not have a working AC. They had "repaired" the ac as a condition of sale but if failed after about 30 minutes of use, probably because they did not do the work properly (and since they did not use an authorized AC shop there is no warranty). Of course they have no interest in making it right for me - as soon as the car leaves the lot they are finished with you, onto the next mug. Please don't purchase a car from them.

I recently bought a 2005 Volvo from Berg. The second day I owned the car the check engine light came on. When I called Berg to talk to them about it, they said it was probably something like my gas tank cap wasn't screwed on tight enough. Right. Within two months the transmission went out, when I called to complain about the car the two guys I talked to couldn't comprehend why I was so upset. They both acted like I was crazy and recommended that I call their transmission guy. Who I called and he acted like he would be doing me a favor if he worked on my car. He actually said he wouldn't be making money on this job so it really didn't matter if I brought my car to him. What kind of customer service it that? After getting quotes he ended up being the most expensive. So to make a long story short I spent $2200 on a new transmission two months after buying my car from Berg. The salesmen at Berg acts uneducated and sleazy.

If I had another chance I would, in a heart beat, buy a car from another dealer and spend the extra money to make sure I was buying from a quality dealer.

My wife bought a Volvo from Berg a couple of years ago. The car had some fairly major defects that she had pointed out. They said that it was no problem and that they would fix that stuff for her. She bought the car. When they went to fix the stuff they broke more things, and lied to her about what they'd done. In stead of fixing the burned out dash lights, they tried to tell her that the 99 Volvo doesn't have lights in the instrument panel!!! These guys have ZERO integrity, and will lie through their teeth.

GET IT ALL IN WRITING with these guys. Better yet, go somewhere else. I could not recommend these guys less.

I haven't bought a car from Berg Car but we have been shopping. We exchanged emails on a VW jetta that we have been looking for. After doing a bit of research on the real value of the car we made an offer on the vehicle. The email response "LOLOLOLO....You really think you can buy that car for that little?" We found this review and would agree with the other negative experiances. We will not be buying from Berg

I purchased a Subaru Outback from Berg. They had several in my price range. They gave me a free warranty. Brad helped me and was great!! The manager on duty with glasses made us feel comfortable when setting up are financing. They have their own shop and inspect their cars for safety. I recommend checking them out for cars under $10,000.

I would never purchase a vehicle from here! I just went it to talk to Bradley, who was very unprofessional, wearing blue jeans and a sweatshirt. I inquired about a Mercedes but noticed it was VERY messy inside. I'm talking like mud smeared all over the door sills and the floor mats. I asked him if they could detail it before i purchased it and he had the nerve to say it was as is condition. For some odd reason I asked him to set up an appointment the next day and he set me up a time and everything, but never called to double check if i was coming in. I never bothered to show up, and I never heard a call from him...

Don't ever buy from here! I bought a Chevy Metro LSI from them for $3200 at 4500k miles. Bought at auction for 1200 and propped up from that to 5k on the lot. These jokers sold me an absolute lemon. They said that the car was soo great and in good condition that the local Portland news did a live report on "Gas savers" types of cars from that car. I bought it hook line and sinker. The car, 2 weeks later threw a rod with my 8 1/2 months pregnant fiancee and 1 1/2 yr old child in it on the way to Seattle, it caused her to pull off of I-5 freeway in the middle of rush hour. Almost causing a severe accident. I called Berg motors immediatly and they promised to repair at little to no charge. I had to hotel it for 2 days at my expense, of which I was up there to purchase a vehicle anyway, but still. We had to get a tow line, and she drove the new 4 cylinder towing me in the now broken LSI behind her all the way from Lynnwood to Scappoose Oregon. On the freeway. After that, the owner screwed me royally by not halfing me, nor giving me any decent deal whatsoever. After I picked up my car from their lot, I drove by the dealership and the salesman who sold it to me looked right at me and laughed. Do yourself a favor and never shop here, youll get bent over like I did. Repair cost for fixed engine 3k. I went with a used motor install at 1800. >:(

I just bought a very hard to find Eurovan from Berg. The VW was in excellent condition, the nicest I had seen if 4 months of look - they even added the option of using american express to complete my transaction (since I wanted my points!).

Thanks a lot guys.

About a week ago, my wife and I were looking for a inexpensive economny car. We called Berg and talked to Titan who said they offered a lot of selection in our price range (under $5,000).

We arrived to find Titan greeting us and in prompt fashion he created a list of several vehicles he said would fit our budget. He pointed us in the direction of what he termed the "cream of the crop vehicles". We were very satisfied with our new to us Geo metro (which gets 50+ mpg!) and even though the asking price was $3,995, Titan gave us what we felt was a awesome deal at $1,700 and included a free 90 day warranty.

Titan respected us and treated us with kindness and was sincere. My wife had just had surgery on her knee and he even made a effort to bring down the vehicles from his other lots that he thought we might like so we would not have to run all over the lot.

He was the youngest employee that we saw (compared to a bunch of old unshaven guys who did seem like they would fit in with bums like other reviews have mentioned.), but was very mature and honest with us. I recommend contacting him if you are looking for a vehicle and like to save time, effort and sanity!

Thanks Titan.

Firstly, I agree with every word from both of the other reviews. I also experienced that their cars were overpriced and they were not knowledgeable about their products, nor did they stand by their service.
I purchased a car there a few months ago and the salesperson offered to replace some of the internal lights after I noticed they did not work. (Just a side note: This offering was after he and his boss tried to make me believe that "some cars just don' t have lights there." Right - no internal lights. Whatever).
The salesperson finally fixed one of the lights, then said he couldn't figure out how to do the rest of them - that the repair manual didn't say (which is a lie). However, I still appreciated him fixing one of them.
...Until the next night when I noticed that after he replaced the light in the gear shift, the heated seat button (adjacent to where he replaced the light) would no longer work. When I called the company to let them know, the general manager, Larry Mason, was rude, unprofessional, and refused to pay for it to be fixed or offer a some solution. He argued that it wasn't in a written contract for them to fix the lights, therefore he was not responsible.
I will NEVER purchase another car from these people, nor will I ever trust them to repair anything on it.
I will also be filing this with the Better Business Bureau, which will make this their FIFTH complaint in the allowable period. I would recommend doing a lot of research before doing any business with this company.

PROS:
CONS: Poor customer service, slow reaction time, unknowledgeable staff, dishonest

I wouldn't recommend buying a car at Berg Car Company. First of all, you can't tell the sales people from the homeless people. They are dressed sloppy and many are unshaven. I found one person there that was actually nice and seemed to care about the buyer. Other than that, I felt like I was being bamboozled by a bunch of money hungry bums that couldn't care less if the car I drove off the lot made it home or not. Don't buy a car from these jerks.

These guys are a bunch of shmucks They over price their cars and then don't back their cars up with promises that can be kept. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and they treat their customers like dummies. I won't ever return there to buy a car or anything else they may decide to sell and I would not recommend that you do either.

Awesome :) I purchased a car from berg car company about 6 month ago, and was really worried about my decision because of all the negative feedback below. Do not let them sway your descision, I have been extremely happy with the purchase

ZERO star! Berg Car Co is everything you imagine a used car dealership to be and so much worse. We walked in with cash and a willingness to negotiate. What we encountered was a rude, pushy, defensive, offensive, insulting "salesman".

These jerks park their cars in on the sidewalk preventing people with disabilities easy access to a safe sidewalk. I actually saw an older gentlemen waiting for 5-10 minutes for traffic to clear enough so he could enter Canyon Rd. and pass

First off i have purchased alot of cars in my life and its usally a bad experience. I ended up seeing alot of adds for berg car co, and was recomened by a family member. When i went there i wasn't so sure at first the parking was hard to find a spot but i wanted to see at certain car they had. It is a laid back place and spent a few hours with the some guy there and they actually gave me a free warranty on a $6500 car which was a first for me. I know 3 people that have got cars from there and they all like there vehicles so i would for sure recomend checking out Berg cars!
