I had a pretty bad experience with Restoration Hardware... I went to this store in mid December and bought a set of dining chairs. I was told it would take 30-45 days to customize the chairs and have them sent to my home. There was a family&friends discount (20%), and a credit card deal that would not charge me interest for 1 or 2 years... I thought to myself - great, this is the time to buy the chairs...

Well... when I got home, I noticed
1- the 20% calcutaion was wrong...
2 - there were 2 shipping charges (1 to the store, 1 to my home - never been told about the second charge), so i spent almost 1 hr on the phone to fix that... They fixed the price of the chairs but I had to pay for the 2 shipping charges.

3 - Then... horrible customer service (by representative and supervisor).

4 - kept getting misleading information from tthe representatives and the last update I got (because I called) is that my chairs are only arriving in the end of March!

6 - did I mention they charged 60% of the amount of the chairs on my credit card, without notifying me? Instead of setting up the payment in 12 or 24 installements, as they promissed...

7- AND Rest. Hardw. charged me a "late fee" too... (even though I left several msgs to cancel the chair AND never received the chairs)

+ By the way, the supervisor promissed me a voucher in the amount of 400dollars, never got it. Another lie...

To end this... My rewards for paying with the credit card, were miscalculated - just got half!

That's it... I threw away all my catalogs and I'm switching to other stores that have some of the same items, like potterybarn and Z gallery.

Good luck, you've been warned!

Ordered bedroom furniture on October 1st, which would be available for the shipment as per RH website on 1st week of november. Just called RH today, Oct 25, to inquire about other items in my order.... and what i had to find out is that the shipment of the furniture was moved without notifying us to Dec 19.... NOW would i have placed my original order on Oct 3rd knowing i would received my bed only in January next year? NO! Would i have found other alternatives and not be sleeping on the floor waiting for the bed to arrive? Absolutely!!!! I just started shopping at RH and spent with them nearly 10K and was going to spend at least that in the next 2 weeks... now if the company this big can afford losing the clients like us - then good luck to them... especially i am not willing to pay for the rudeness of the customer services... I will NEVER go back there, don't like ugly experiences like that

NW 23rd Restoration Hardware

I would give less stars if I could, but it's not an option, and the only other reason I would consider one star is for the good quality of their product. However, their products run expensive, and even more expensive if you consider the extremely poor quality of customer service you have to put up with.

At first employees give the impression of being very helpful but will give you the COMPLETE run around if there's any kind of problem with anything.

Our order was late, so I asked for some kind of discount - THAT's IT. Jeremy, a store manager said he would check into the shipping time and would get back to us. A week later - he still has YET to call us back!

Furthermore, online representatives and the in store manager, Jeremy told us we were wrong about the shipping quote. However, the employee who placed the order for us told us differently, and furthermore, my wife took photos in the store of the shipping time posted with the products we purchased CONFIRMING what we told them.

They treated us EXTREMELY poor! All the manager had to do was walk over to the display to see we were correct about the shipping time. Our suspicion is he did, but didn't want to do anything to help. Even after we provided a photo to online representatives, there was STILL nothing done for the issue at hand, nor did we ever receive any kind of apology.

In all... a minor "customer service" issue /request became an extreme irritation of poor customer service. We are returning our items, and hope we don't experience further "return" grief such as others have here in this comment forum. We will also NOT be doing any business with them any further.

While the store does have good quality products, I have come to find that dealing with their employees, their return policy, and their high prices is just not worth it. Their return policy is awful if you have purchased something on-line (they have a thing or two to learn from Zappos.com), their employees are generally stuck up, smug, rude, etc. and if they need to go in the back to check for an item - they are obviously inconvenienced (hello - that's your job), and for the amount of money of their items I can find the same quality for better service at Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, or William Sonoma. Definitely not worth the headache of dealing with this company - I would highly recommend NOT doing business with them.

We purchased curtains from this store, along with some curtain hardware a couple of months ago. When we got home, we realized that the store had given us some of the wrong merchandise. We had half gold rings, half black rings, half clip rings, half regular rings, etc. I called the store and asked them to send a shipping label, but they said we would have to drive it back. So we made a four hour roundtrip to return them, along with the curtains which let too much light through. All products were in their original packaging, most were never taken out of their packaging. When we bought them, we were hesitant, because we weren't sure if they would be suitable for our bedroom, but the salesperson told us not to worry that we could return them no problem for any reason. However, when we went back to the store, they refused to accept the return. They acknowledged that the merchandise was in perfect shape and that we were within the return period, but said without the original receipt, they couldn't do anything, because they couldn't verify what we'd spent. I talked to their regional manager, who pulled up the records in 30 seconds on the computer using my credit card number. He verified the amount and date of the purchase and gave the records to the Portland store manager. In spite of this, the store manager was extremely rude (perhaps perceiving that we had gone over her head, although she was extremely rude before we even spoke to her regional manager). She grudgingly allowed us to give them the merchandise, after which we left, and guess what? Right after we left, she SHIPPED BACK all of the merchandise we were trying to return - including the wrong merchandise given to us in the first place - and then claimed to our credit card company that we should be responsible for all charges and showed them the shipping labels, claiming that they had "sent" the merchandise to us. I have never had so much trouble with any retail chain in my life, and I have never encountered such rude management. I have dealt with several Restoration Hardware stores in California and never had these problems. I would strongly recommend going across the street and purchasing from Pottery Barn or another store. We have purchased thousands of dollars from Restoration Hardware over the past few years, but would never patronize one of these stores, particularly this Portland one, again.

If you are looking for a unique light/switch cover, trendy bathroon hardware, cool kitchen untensils, and great home decor, you will porbably find it here. It's a little pricey, but when you are shopping for one of a kind you may be okay with that. Parking is tight.

There is a lot of nice home decor in this store, but it is a bit pricey. I was very impressed with the bathroom and lighting fixture options especially.

I am always feeling that I am at home everytime I came in to this store. there are many corky messages everywhere.. it's fun and the store has a great atmosphere. I do not mind paying a little extra money for the service that they gave.
