I have been going to Mild to Wild for 14 years and Karen is incredible! I have Indian hair and no one has been able to cut it right until meeting her. (hair dressers believe they can cut any type of hair because they went to beauty school, Not) Unlike the previous review the salon is Not Dirty, or Rude Receptionist working there and I am beyond picky when it comes to a salon. So ask for Karen or Allison as a neighbor of mine uses her and you will be completely satisfied.

I read the reviews and thought Mild to Wild would be safe enough to try. My 8 year-old son's surfer shag was way too long and I simply wanted it trimmed up a bit. I brought in two photos so my 'vision' wouldn't be reinterpreted.

We walked in and were met with stares. After a minute or so, one woman, who I thought was waiting for a friend, put down her magazine and asked if we needed help. Um.. Yes? She went to get the receptionist. The receptionist asked what I was looking for, I told her, and a minute later the original woman (the magazine reader) came and got us. She didn't ask my son his name and didn't offer hers. I will refer to her as Crispy Orange-Blonde Ponytail (COBP). The salon was dirty. Not just hair on the floors and the occasional spill, but DIRTY. And it's never a good sign when the stylist's stations have stacks of dog-eared novels! Read much? Well, if you're reading you must not have much else to do. That alone speaks volumes.

My son sat down, I told COBP he has a really sensitive head, and then she picked up a brush and started DRAGGING IT THROUGH HIS HAIR. I watched his face to see if he was ok, and when he made eye contact with me he burst into tears. He was in pain. COBP didn't even notice!! I yelled, "Stop! You're hurting him!" twice before she stopped with a resounding, "Huh?" I should have walked out. I'm ticked that I didn't. Instead, I told her to keep it long... figuring she'd trim it and we could leave ASAP. Wrong again!! She snipped a little fron the lower right side. Then she trimmed part of the bangs. Then she snipped a few inches (yes, inches) off the top. Then back to a side. Then the bangs. The most random, crazy, uneven cut I've ever seen. At this point I got the giggles... not sure why but I'm thinking it was because my sweet-faced child was quickly turning into a cross between a 70's porn star and a Shaun Cassidy look-a-like. She literally FEATHERED his hair and asked what I thought. I said it looked good - I just wanted OUT of there!! So I paid the $15 (plus a $2 tip, WHICH SHE ASKED FOR!), and left.

Fast forward 10 minutes and my son was having his hair fixed by Gwyn at Ooh La La. Of course I had to pay for another hair cut (only $14 this time), but the salon was beautiful, she actually had a conversation with me about what I wanted, she cut his hair while he played a video game, and most importantly no one cried!!

Steer clear of Mild to Wild. If you're 87 and need a roller set, you'd probably love it, but if you have even a modicum of style or want to keep your child's scalp intact, AVOID.

Karen is the most talented hair specialist I have ever had or seen. My hair was bleached blonde on top and almost black on bottom, it was very damaged and my roots were growing out, it looked TERRIBLE! I was affraid there was nothing that could be done that would be fahionable. I asked Karen her opinion and she spent a lot of her time making sure we both agreed on the colors in her book, also made sure I was very comfortable and understood every step of what would happen. I now have georgeous fall colors that look very stunning. I will not ever go to anyone else. Thank you so much Karen, I have full confidence back. Jennifer

Pros: Beautiful hair every time

Cons: none

I am super picky abot my blonde, I am always worried that I am too golden. I started seeing Alison almost a year ago at her previous salon and she gets it right every time!! I have had other stylists who leave it strawberryblonde (which looks terrible on me) or not light enough but Alison gets me to the natural cool looking blonde that I want with a just few pieces of lighter blonde with bleach. If you are in Gresham, go see her. You will not regret it!!

Pros: Stylists, receptionst, parking and atmosphere

Cons: No wine...

The atmosphere was spacious and inviting, receptionist greeted me at the door. My manicure and pedicure were performed by Tochina (sp?) who is also the salon's aesthetician. She has great hands and the massage chair spa was relaxing. I paid $40 for both as a special and would recommend it for a girl's day out.
