Some of the employees act put out if you ask them a question. Which is kind of hilarious because I have bought THREE guitars from them over the last few years and whenever I come in, i'm spending money on something. Dealing with people

I made a major purchase here and the guy who sold my my instrument sent me a thank you card. That's just good business! I went back for pedals and was also treated very well by a different employee. No machismo attitude. Being a female

Having just purchase my Telecaster I always wanted, I have to say the sale was clean, precise, friendly, and funny. Felt no pressure to buy, always a good time trying on guitars...great advice....no up selling. I got what I wanted. This

I didn't know anything about guitar music when I walked in the door. Their salesman Rob Nelson was the most helpful. I surprised my son with a beginners guitar/amp set. I have upgraded several times since with the same company and the same sales person. What is great is that he remembers all of my purchases and knows exactly what I need next. Plus he always askes my son to play for him before he will recommend an upgrade, so I don't spend to much for something that will not get used. Thank you~

I've tried being friendly with the staff there, but its not worth it. The only reason I had gone there a couple times is that its the closest place to buy strings. The first bad experience was during what I thought was my transaction taking place when in mid sentence the old guy walks away from me to go bulls**t with some other staff member and I waited for about 5 mintues for him to ring me up. Second bad experience, and this takes the cake. So, during this transaction I'm thrown into a confusing situtation. Should I get extremly p*ssed off and start yelling or just rolling along with the fact that these people are ridiculous. I'll explain, after showing my ID to this guy, he makes a racial slur that was horrible and didn't even pertain to my ethnicity and then goes on about what I was wearing in my ID photo and then imples that I probably didn't have the girls chasing after. He then goes on to tell me that he likes what I was wearing that day and that he thought it was much better. Well, thank you douche! You summed up what I've always joked about involving the music community, or society itself and that there are probably 2% of people who get 'IT' and you are not one of them.

Pros: nope.

Cons: the whole thing.

Portland Music Co. is probably the best and most reputable place in town to pick up a new or used musical instrument. They offer rentals as well - and you'll find every accessory you'll need for you instrument. You can special order something if they don't have it in stock, and they also have a separate section for sheet music. Great place!
