I've been a member since March of 2011. I've had nothing but problems with billing since day 1. They billed the wrong account AFTER I asked them several times to switch the credit card they charged. I eventually had to close the account because they wouldn't stop charging it. In October I put the membership on hold and now I keep getting calls saying my membership is overdue and when I tell them I put my membership on hold they tell me that I 'didn't do it right' (although when I talked to the people at the Eugene Golds they said that everything was ok and my account was on hold) and have been making me jump through hoops to try and cancel the membership. In addition to that the gym is dirty all the time and there are always several machines broken at one time which seem to take weeks to get fixed.

The contract and high pressure to for auto check payments feels like a scam.

I joined this gym and I do use it. The people that work there (Brandon and Dee) are great and really that is the only reason I still go there(and my contract). BUT it seems that the equipement is always broken and the bathrooms are gross. There was a hair ball in the shower(I quit showering there)and it stayed there for 2 weeks. Yes 2 WEEKS!
I have gone to the YMCA and they seem to have more people working out and ALL their equipement seems to work...So Troy what are you doing with all the money.

Horrible company! They are a bunch of crooks. I am dealing with the same problems with my contract and am still being charged these outragous fees after calling and trying to cancel in person. The staff and personal trainers are a bunch of liars too. They will tell you anything and everything to get you to sign the contract. Be sure to tell them to shut their mouths and let you read the contract in peace because they will attempt to distract you.

I love the facility and classes, but the personal trainers are flaky and not worth the cost and headache. I can't even count the number of times I've been canceled on last minute - by multiple trainers, not just one. Instead of being motivating a few of the trainers have made insensitive comments to me directly and can be heard critiquing other people's physique and form as they workout in the gym too.

I have the same membership problem with these crooks. I quit 3 times.. in person, on the phone, and in writing and they are still billing my credit card. I've been disputing these charges for almost a year and they are still charging.. every time I talked to them they said they'd take care of the problem and then kept charging.. do NOT give them your credit card!!! and if you're unfortunate enough to be a member, you'll need a lawyer to quit.

I am right now (March 2010) going through the same problem. Last March I told the desk help that I was done with my membership. Two months later I receive notice that I'm two months behind in payment. In May I get the news that I am to sign a formal end of membership and I have to pay for the two months I didn't attend the gym. Go forward a year, last month I receive a collections bill stating I owe money and after three weeks of trying to find out why and how this bill came, a person from All State Financial said I had to pay for the May-June portion of the membership beCAUSE the formal end of contract requires one more month's fee. What a SCAM. And there was no communication to any of these bills except: "You should have read the fine print in the contract."

Stay away from Gold's Gym. You can't trust them with your credit card. They make it VERY difficult to cancel and will try to bill you for months afterward, only they don't contact you when you don't pay.... they just send it to debt collectors. You can't get anyone to respond to you or your disputes over their charges. The gym is dark, dirty, and dingy. The equipment is old. Go elsewhere. This gym provides one big headache after another!

My experience with this gym is a Yin/Yang (good and bad). LOUD (various stereo systems playing at once & grunting weightlifters showing off & treadmill machines buzzing--feels kind of like an insane asylum at times), FISHY business practices (seems like all of my friends paid different prices for their m'ships), the salespeople are driven/pushy but friendly. Weight machines/facility for women is lacking but clean. Yoga class--very good, but crowded. This gym is overpopulated--which would make it hard to keep clean I imagine. By the way, Eugene could use a gym on the west side of town. How about it, Golds?

I have been an active member of Gold's Gym for over four years. I have always been treated well. I haven't hired any trainers and if I have a question I can find help. The facility has great equipment and space. Many classes. Members are friendly. I have developed good friendships. Encouragement from others. It is a positive friendly place to workout at. I go 4-5 times a week.
Excellent deals can be had there! No fees for sign up and $27. per month is current promotion. My fee was reduced since I first signed up.

Fraudulent charges on my credit card- no return calls- can't cancel membership. I am filing a complaint with the FTC and anywhere else I can. Hideous conditions (out of towels, scum in the showers, GROSS), high broken-equipment ratio, non-existent customer service (Mostly room-temp I.Q. teenagers). You WILL regret signing up.

Horrible customer service and very bad business practices. An absolutely filthy facility! DO NOT let them do EFT they will take out extra money each year for "facility maintenance", isn't that what membership dues are for! Staff has been known to use member CC info for personal use. Before joining do yourself a favor and contact the Better business bureau and the health department, both of which have received many complaints on Gold's Gym in Eugene and Spfld.

One plus - Great group fitness instructors and classes, huge array of equipment.

I really wanted to join this new gym off Delta Hwy. But in order to sign up, you need to give a huge deposit and the salespeople would not budge on pricing. $300 to start a gym is a little too high for me. But the facility is brand new.
