A good vet is hard to find. Tigard animal hospital is a great vet. Their prices are extremely reasonable, the staff is very nice (to both people and animals), and you don't spend hours in the waiting room. Even for small services you can drop your pet off and come back later in the day for no extra charge. Next day appointments for spay/neuter and they always charge the OSNF price. I will continue to take my pets and recommend them. \n\nFor those who complain about the up selling, what place doesn't do that? The difference here over Companion or Banfield is that they save the guilt trip if you turn down an extra service. Very understanding.

They may charge smaller fees but they do a hard sell on upgrades and unnecessary products. When I went to pick my dog up, they also charged more than the quote. They told me there was something wrong his blood work, that they had to do additional test, and administer additional fluids, which they charged for. T Hey said his blood work was not right, and I had to put him on special food, which they conveniently set aside for me to join their monthly must have dog food sales plan. None of this was accurate. Eight years later, my dog is healthy, happy, has fine blood work, gets his teeth cleaned yearly (elsewhere), and has never had to go on any special food. Subsequent to this, I had other doctors look at those blood work results, and they all told me the numbers were as they were because the dog had been fasting in prep for the dental cleaning, not because anything was wrong with him.\n\nThis hospital had the nerve to call me a month after I was there to try to scare me into buying their food. Big rip-off. They prey on people's fears and desire to do everything for their dog's health. Don't fall for it.

They have a drop-off/pick-up program for surgeries, which is so convenient for people that have to work during the day. All of their services are very reasonably priced, and they are one of three vets on the West side that accept the Oregon Spay/Neuter coupon. I got my little guy neutered for $49.00!

The front desk girls were friendly, kind and very easy to talk to. I called a few times to check on my dog and they happily helped me. It was easy and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there for the surgery. I highly recommend this place. Thank you

If you go to the Oregon Humane Society website you can get a coupon to get your pet spayed or neutered I was nervous at first because you always think you get what you pay for. But Tigard Animal Hospital is great!!

I took a stray in to be neutered (they were able to schedule me for a next-day appointment!) and they were willing to provide any extra services I wanted at a very reasonable rate.

To the Manager of Tigard Animal Hospital,\r\n\r\nI am contacting you about a bill that was sent to me 9 months after services. I was told there was an issue with my card be charged.\r\n\r\nMy dog Ginger had some wounds on her feet. I was told to try soaking her feet in a solution to remove them. When this did not work I was told you would need to Biopsy the wart like bumps. I called in and was given a cost for treatment. Although we were not prepared at the time for such an amount, we agreed (my husband and I) to seek the treatment. I drove from my home in Hillsboro to your facility in Tigard because I always liked the previous experiences with Tigard Animal Hospital. Most clinics are out to take your money over caring for your animals. I thought your facility was different however after this experience I will no longer bring any of my animals and I have reported this incident as well as notified every comment page I could find a listing for your site.\r\nYou see after making the early trip to drop her off before work, I received a call at work telling me it would be more money. Imagine my surprise?you told me one price, wait till you have my animal, make me think it is cancerous and then say you want more money. I love my dog, so I want the biopsy done. We make an arrangement to pay the agreed upon price and a later payment for the balance. I am abhorred that your customer service is to NOT honor your own mistake but take advantage of your customers love for their animal.\r\nThe worst part, is when my husband picked Ginger up from your facility she was bleeding all over your floor. Apparently the additional cost does NOT include proper bandage on an open wound. There was nothing placed on her paws. Her bleeding paws were bare!! In a place where other sick animals walk in and out, my dog is bleeding all over. When your staff came out to clean up she commented ?wow this floor is filthy??.of course not realizing clients overheard her!! \r\nImagine my surprise after all this, when, about four months after the biopsy the same ?warts? appeared. I researched and found that some benefited from puppy immune booster supplements. Sure enough, the warts disappeared and have not come back.\r\nYou will get sent your outstanding bill of $54.31 on January 13th. My prayers are that others are not duped by you and that you gain some compassion when dealing with customers who love their animals. I understand mistakes are made, but I also know how ill will it is to lose customers over such a small amount!! Also, clean your floors!!\r\n\r\nConnie

I took my animal here during one of the Saturday vaccine clinics. It was something like $10 for the rabies shot, with the exam fee waved.

You have a terrific and helpful staff and Dr. Genova is wonderful. We especially are delighted the laser treatments our 13 year old dog has received. His level of activity has improved so much. Also, when we make appointments we get in right away, often the same day! Keep up the good work!

One of the few places in town that participates in the much-needed Oregon Spay/Neuter Fund coupon. I took a stray in to be neutered (they were able to schedule me for a next-day appointment!) and they were willing to provide any extra services I wanted at a very reasonable rate. Unfortunately the kitty was FIV+ and did not make it through surgery as the disease was so advanced. They were so pleased with me for trying to do the right thing and so dismayed at the way things turned out that they did not charge me a dime. I could tell from the many updates and thank-yous they called me with that these people truly care about the welfare of companion animals. If I lived in the Tigard area I would definitely take my own pets here.

Tigard offers low cost spaying and neutering every day, and with the high rate of pups and kittens that are now strays because of no responsibility on this, I urged all my friends with pets to get it done here in Oregon including myself!

I wanted to let everyone know about my experience with Tigard Animal Hospital. I had taken my 1 year old rabbit (Chewie) there to get spayed. I dropped her off early on 6/21/10 and was told to pick her up late that afternoon. They told me that they would call me if there was anything wrong or if they had any questions. Dr. Ken Genova preformed the spay on chewie. I came back at close to 4 pm to pick up her up. I asked if everything had gone ok and if she had been eating and drinking. They said that everything went smoothly and that she had been eating and drinking.\r\n I took her with me and realized she wasn?t moving much the entire car ride home. I thought that because she had been under anastgia that she was still waiting for that to wear off, and that was why she was not moving around a lot. I took her home and noticed that by 8 pm she was still not moving around. I put her on the floor where she would normally run around and they realized very quickly what was wrong. She tried to move and then dragged her back legs behind her. She had been partially paralyzed.\r\n I tried to find an emergency number for Tigard Animal Hospital, but they didn?t have any. I called banfeild pet hospital and asked them about the situation and they said that the most likely way that this could have happened was Chewie not being restrained properly when being put under or taken out of anastgia. I waiting until morning and called Tigard Animal Hospital right when they opened. I was told to bring her in and did. They said that they didn?t do anything wrong and that it must have been our fault. They asked questions over and over again trying to find a way to place blame on us. They did an x ray on her for free and found that her back was broken. When we asked what they were going to do about what they did to her they said that it wasn?t their fault and kind of started giggling about how angry we were. WE GOT HER BACK FROM THEM LIKE THIS, SHE WASENT MOVING WHEN WE GOT HER BACK. They said that they would put her down because of her injury. We did not want them ever touching her again, or any other pet of ours. \r\nWe left their office and told them that we would be talking to a lawyer about malpractice, they did this to her and will not take responsibility for their mistakes. We took her to another vet Dr. Mark Burgess at Southwest Animal Hospital and he examined her and said that she could potentially get one of her back legs moving again and that she was still able to move one of them slightly. While she will always be disabled she is not in pain and has a chance at a partial recovery. \r\nI want people to know what Tigard Animal Hospital did to my rabbit and how they reacted to the situation. Do not go there, I would hate to see this happen to someone else?s beloved pet. Chewie will never be the same. \r\n

Pros: None

Cons: Horrible care and complete lack of responsiblity

.

Absolutely, DO NOT take your animals to this vet. My daughters rabbit was spayed by this vet, they BROKE HER BACK during a routine spay, and then tried to say that they didnt do this, and blame my daughter for the rabbits broken back. (It was this way when they picked up the rabbit from the vet). Go to Southwest Animal on murray instead(At least they know what their doing).

They advertise the spay is $49, but then let you know the animal will need drugs and fluids which costs more. I was a bit put off by that, but to spend only about $40 more than I did at hayden Meadows was okay. The staff is much better and they used stitches that did not have to be removed which was really nice, and some kind of laser healing thing which seemed very fancy.. Except, the wound has not healed quite right, but that could be because kitty got into a tussle with one of my other cats. Might not have to do with the stitches. But if you are looking for an affordable place to get a spay or neuter, I would go there. Every place I could find in Portland was $200 or more! I ended up spending $100 because they do push some other stuff on you.

We took our kitten in because she had a swollen lip. The doctor told us that she would need an oral anti-biotic for $40 or a shot for $80. WE AGREED ON THE ORAL ANTIBIOTIC ONLY. The Doctor told us a nurse would be in to show us how to administer the oral anti-biotic. He then returned and without explanation and gave our cat a shot. We got the oral anti-biotic after. When we went to the desk the doctor claimed that he explained she needed a shot for the swelling that cost $45. When I refused to pay for the shot because we never agreed on the shot they KEPT OUR CAT! My boyfriend the owner of the cat had to go in and talk to DR. Ben Edwards. When he talked to him he said he had explained that she needed the first shot for the swelling and the antibiotics for a infection( he did not explain that there were multiple treatments needed when I was there). When he asked the DR if she had agreed on the first shot HE SAID NO AND THAT HE ""ASSUMED,"" that she had agreed on the first shot because she chose the oral antibiotic. When he called him out for ASSUMING DR BEN EDWARDS turned around walked off and told a staff member that he would not talk to him and to have (unsure of name) talk to me. He then turned to him and said one of the staff will talk to you. They refused to give me the cat without paying the full balance. So he paid and will be reporting them to the Business Bureau and speeking with our lawyer to take them to small claims.\n\nI feel like we were discriminated against by the doctor because of our age (20) and the doctor tried to take advantage of that. When DR BEN EDWARDS was called out for ASSUMING she wanted the treatment by a 20 yr old he ran off with his tail between his legs and WOULD NOT TALK TO HIM.\n\nWe contacted our parents who have heard multiple complaints with a very similar situation atleast 4 other times. We will be compiling all the complaints to send to the Business Bureau and will NEVER do Business with them or any company who refers or deals with them. I hope you do not make the same mistake we did! DO NOT TAKE YOU ANIMALS HERE!\n

I would (and do) recommend this clinic to anyone with pets. We take both of our dogs there!!! \r\n\r\nIf you go to the Oregon Humane Society website you can get a coupon to get your pet spayed or neutered I was nervous at first because you always think you get what you pay for. But Tigard Animal Hospital is great!! \r\n\r\nEveryone in the office is great to work with!!!

I don't know where these negative reviews came from, but I have had nothing but wonderful service and quality care at this vet! I've had several dogs and cats over the years, and have had lots of experience with good and bad vets. These people are definitely the best. I got a puppy a few years ago, and Tigard Animal Hospital has always provided his veterinary care. They got him in for all of his puppy shots the day after I got him. When it was time for him to be neutered, I called to make an appointment and they had me bring him in the next day. I've never had a vet that was so accommodating with scheduling before. They even have a drop-off/pick-up program for surgeries, which is so convenient for people that have to work during the day. All of their services are very reasonably priced, and they are one of three vets on the West side that accept the Oregon Spay/Neuter coupon. I got my little guy neutered for $49.00! They have always been courteous and professional with me, and I wouldn't dream of taking my pets anywhere else.

Pros: Pretty much everything!

Cons: Tigard traffic is wretched, but that's not their fault.

I just got my dog, Lex neutered here and it was a wonderful experience! The front desk girls were friendly, kind and very easy to talk to. I called a few times to check on him and they happily helped me. It was easy and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there for the surgery. I highly recommend this place. Thank you girls, you rock!

If you care about your pet DON'T take them here!! I took my 7 month old pup. to get spade. There quote...$60.00. End bill 600+. Talk about a hack job!! My poor pup!! First we get here home, she was swollen. Ok to be expected. Next, one day later, there was bleeding, and swelling. So we took her back for her ""free"" follow up. There was an infection. Next they stapled her up. We got her home, and she was still covered in a bleeding mess, and the staples were sticking out of her at odd angles!!! So that night we took her to the hospital. They were great and help us fix every thing. So all in all we spent over $900.00 in getting our lil'girl fixed. I am very angry at the way they ""off handedly"" treated us. I cant stress it enough.

We took our new 6 month old yellow labs to Tigard Animal Hospital to get neutered. We ended up having them boarded for a few days afterwards due to home improvement projects. Not only were we misquoted on the total cost of everything, our puppies came away with kennel cough. They treated the dogs for kennel cough, which we believe is something that they contracted at their hospital and would not budge on the cost of treatment...total cost of everything was over $900 for both dogs in the end. Now the puppies are on antiboitics and cough suppressants and due to nature's law they keep giving it back and forth between each other. I would not take my puppies back there if it was the last hospital in the Portland Metro area.

Tigard Animal Hospital mis-quoted us on a follow-up visit on a stray cat we rescued... a cat we couldn't afford to spend additional hundreds of dollars on (we had already spent more than $450 on his previous vet visit and meds - at Tigard Animal Hospital). We phoned prior to taking him in for an idea of how much the follow up visit would cost... after being put on hold for a minute, we were quoted $46.00. I would understand if the visit was maybe a bit more, but it was just under $200! The vetrinarian would do nothing to make us happy. We weren't expecting him to reduce it down to $46, but he could have made a bit of an adjustment. Vetrinarian visits are marked above the actual cost - he could have reduced the price- at least a little.\r\n\r\nWe know that mistakes can happen... but, a lot can be said about a business in how they handle those mistakes. Beware if they are unwilling to see things from the customers point of view and unwilling to make adjustments that are agreeable to both parties.\r\n\r\nWe have other animals and will NOT be returning to Tigard Animal Hospital and do not recommend them to anyone else.

Rude - wouldn't return if they were the last clinic in Portland.

Because of the customer service I drive 30 minutes to Tigard Animal Hospital. I live in Aloha and have numerous clinics much closer, but because of Dr. Genova and his staff I drive to Tigard. My dogs are more important to me than anything else in my life. I fully entrust their care to Dr. Genova. The staff remembers me every time I call the clinic. I've never felt like just another customer.
