Aubergine

Walk into Aubergine, and immediately this shop is different. I like to see something new, discover a new label, see something a new way. Shopping in the U.S. can be so bland, so safe, the sameness of everything, a bore.
Not Aubergine. It is so much more interesting to find things that are not everywhere. The Pearl District is a gem of a place, I liked the smaller scale... being able to walk around, cafes and wine bars on every corner. The people are more interesting to look at, more of an individual style of dressing, the clothing at Aubergine seems to be more about individual style, and not necessarily bought on the appeal of a label alone. However, I did find my eye wandering over the Dosa, a lot, as it was an extensive selection.

Absolutely nothing to do with the eggplant, Aubergine specializes in fine women's clothing at a premium price. They carry European lines that without trying add a modern and sophisticated edge to what otherwise might be mundane. The Pearl has a lot of shops like this one, so it's not particularly noteworthy other than to say that you should keep it in mind.
