This zoo is awesome! Being an Oregonian born and raised, it is frustrating to go to any other zoo because most don't compare to ours here in Portland. With a train ride, huge variety of animals, reptiles, insects, etc. and the new always changing exhibits, whats not to love? It gets even better at Christmas time with Zoo Lights...definitely worth braving the cold rain for. The kids love it and the exercise is fun to walk all over learning about new animals to the zoo. So happy to have this in our state. Avoid Tuesdays though unless you're adamant on the discount, parking is almost never available and the crowd can be too much.

Whenever we take a trip to Portland, we always go to the Portland zoo. It is great! We have two children (almost 6 and 3) and they love it! One of their favorite things to do is the train ride. They also love to walk down the paths and see all the animals. They really like to go in the aviary and feed the birds a sweet juice that the employees hand out in little cups. You can also buy a year pass and you can go all the times you want for a set fee. The zoo is very clean and has a lot of exhibits which seem to change pretty frequently. They have several places to eat and a nice main area where they often have concerts or presentations. I highly reccomend stopping by the Portland Zoo when you are in the area. It is a great day trip!

PROS: Nice clean zoo, reasonable admission fee
CONS: none

I just can't say enough about the zoo. There is something for everyone. We really enjoy our zoo pass. It allows us free entry and special discounted rates for the train or special events. come check it out for yourself.

I have always enjoyed coming to the zoo myself and now my children love it here as well. We stop here each summer on our annual trip to the Oregon Coast. Great zoo! The pathways are always swept and clear. The animals pens are always cleanand very natural. Lots of fun eshibits and activities.

When my family and I went to the zoo it was about 6 pm and we asked if the it was still open and of course they said yes, and yes we still could pay and get through the gate, but what we were not told was that it was feeding time for mot of the animals so they were hardly any animals to see. I think that was very unfair of the employees, I would have like to have been told this at the time we bought our tickets so we could have thought about maybe coming back the next day. If the animals were out to be seen I am sure that it would have been a very fun place to be with the family.

The oregon zoo can be enjoyed by children, adults, and even teenagers. The new sea lion exhibit is great even though the sea lions are always sleeping. The prices in the cafe are a bit high but still always a great place. The Lorikeets are so much fun! Visitors can purchase a paper cup of juice to feed to the birds. The birds kept landing on our heads and arms!

This really is a fun place--the zoo has beautiful grounds, and is very educational and fun for all. The train ride through the forest to the Rose Gardens has great scenery--the kids will love it!

What a fun place to go with toddlers on up to adults! They have done an excellent job of creating as close as to a real-life experience as possible. There are sections for the African Sahara to colder areas for Polar Bears and Penguins. Monkeys, Elephants, Wolves, etc. There is a petting zoo for the little ones too.

There are several snack bars and restaurants through-out.

It's a bit expensive for families without an annual pass.

PROS: Wonderful - "Real-life" experience!
CONS: It's a bit expensive for families without an annual pass.

If you're living near the area, it's well worth the money to become a Zoo Member. We love to take our family REGULARLY to the zoo. It's very family-friendly, and there are many exhibits that change often enough that every time you go, you'll see something new. One Con is that the prices are fairly high for a one-time visit, and for the food on-site. It's recommended that you bring your own food and snacks if you plan on visiting often so that you don't break the bank! We love the zoo staff too, they're wonderful, friendly, and helpful.

PROS: Great place to visit, always something new to see, helpful staff.
CONS: One time admission and food prices are high.
