The selection of the store is amazing and I had a a blast looking through it all, however it was truly the young blond man on staff who made me a life long customer. Now i don't look like money, I walked in looking like a college student and asked about pipe tobacco he pulled a bunch of different kinds out encouraged me to smell them and then helped me make a decision, informing me about the process of mixing them and how it is done on premises hence the slightly higher price (totally justified the quality of the smoke is amazing!). I moved on to pipes and he and i spent 30 minutes pulling out various pipes within my prince range and discussing them. I chose a rather low end pipe because i was OK with the price and he then proceeded to pull out several of the very high end pipes so i could see the art/craftsmanship/ touch stuff i couldn't afford. I wandered over to the cigar counter and he followed me answering all my questions and my girl friends questions. Point of fact ladies sometimes it's hard to get someone to answer a non smoking girls questions he and the other staff members put her at ease and answered all of her questions, good for me come Christmas. Any way he pulled out multiple cigars when i purchased on i asked for a tube and he found one so that i wouldn't damage the cigar on the way home on the plane. All i can say is that I am going to spend my hard earned money there.

I'm not sure why cigar stores must also have masses of magazines, but they often do, and Rich's Cigar Store -- one of the oldest such stores in the nation, dating back over a century -- has thousands of both. Honestly, if there's a cigar or a magazine that exists (legally, anyway) and they don't have it here, then you just might win a prize.

There is a smell of cigar and smoke shops which is impossible to replicate. The wonderful fullness of unsmoked tobacco somehow makes searching for magazines seem a bit more of an adventure. Stepping through the doors to riches is almost like stepping onto a movie set. There seems to be nothing out of place, each display and light is in the perfect place. One can imagine lovers stopping to browse or gangsters serepticiously passing information behind the magazine racks. They have every magazine you can imagine. SOme you might not have yet. and a wide assortment of tobacco related products.

THIS IS AN OLD PORTLAND FAVORITE. THERE HAS BEEN A RICH'S CIGAR STORE LOCATED AT THE LLOYD CENTER & DOWNTOWN AS LONG AS I REMEMBER. THE NAME DOES NOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE EVERYTHING THAT CAN BE PURCHASED INSIDE THE STORE. BESIDES CIGARS YOU CAN BUY CIGARETTES..MANY CHOICES..AND PIPES & PIPE TOBACCO. YOU CAN BUY LIGHTERS, CIGARETTE HOLDERS, ASHTRAYS. THEY ALSO CARRY UNIQUE GIFTS & BUST OF FAMOUS PEOPLE SUCH AS RAY CHARLES. THE STORES ALWAYS SMELL GOOD..LIKE SWEET PIPE TOBACCO. THE PRICES RANGE FROM LOW TO VERY HIGH FOR EXQUISTITE ITEMS. THIS STORE HAS CLASS AND IS A GREAT PLACE FOR BUYING GIFTS FOR A HARD-TO-BUY-FOR-PERSON
PROS: UNIQUE, SPECIAL GIFTS AVAILABLE
CONS: NONE

Large cigar and cigarette store that also offers aisles upon aisles of local and international magazines. Check out what the rest of the world is writing about, buy some clove cigarettes or nice cigars, and enjoy the atmosphere. Convenient location downtown and in the North Wast section of the city.
