I do not typically write a review for a restaurant unless it left an impact on me..and this place did. It was truly amazing. I did not want to stop eating. I have been to plenty of lebanese restaurants around America during my buisness

I love lebanese food and this restaurant is great. I would highly recommend it. I would recommend trying the mazza and going with a group.

I have eaten at a number of Middle Eastern places in Portland, and this was the worst. I would not got back. Everything was borderline bad. Hard to describe, it just did not taste fresh or that flavorful. Disappointing because it would be nice to have a good place to go to lunch downtown. I won??t be back.

I went out a couple of days ago with my husband and young daughter for dinner at Abu Rasheed. I must say that from beginning to end, the experience was quite pleasant. The servers are very upbeat and helpful in explaining what each dish is. We ordered the hummus, salad, and falafel as appetizers. All three were freshly prepared. The Hummus was flavorful and is some of the best I have ever tasted. My husband and daughter loved the falafel- my daughter kept saying they were "yummy." Considering my child is a picky eater- I was quite impressed. The appetizers were so plentiful that we were stuffed even before the main course arrived. We had shish kabobs, rice, spinach and meat pies. The spices on the shish kabobs were just perfect and the rice was flavorful. The waitress was very attentive to us the whole time and they made us feel comfortable even when my daughter was getting rowdy. That's always a big plus! All in all- we had no complaints and will definitely be returning soon. I can honestly say that Abu Raheed has made it into my "top five" list of best Middle Eastern restaurants!! Two thumbs way up!!

I went into Abu Rasheed today and ordered the Sahara Special! It was delicious, the chicken was amazing and seriously who ever says anything different has no idea what real shawarma or what real lebanese food is...because this place was great. The food was terrific and the waitress was the type that you hope to get when going to a restaurant. She was extremely helpful and was able to answer all our questions about the food. I love this place and will go back for sure.

Probably because they could tell that we didn't like it.

I came in with a group of 8 people. The restaurant was very accommodating. The servers were happy to serve, and offered to put drinks on the house when they made a mistake. The food was incredible. We had the Abu Rasheed special with: hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganooj, falafel, zaytoun & kabees, waraq enab, labneh, jebneh baydah, kafta kabab, shish kabab, shish tawook, tomatoes, onion salad, rice, and pita bread. All of that serves 4 for 60 bucks. Well worth it. Every morsel was absolutely delicious. The only mediocre dish was the kafta kabab, which was a little dry. Everything else was exquisite.

I came into Abu Rasheed yesterday based on all of the wonderful reviews people had already written, and I just wanted to let everyone know... that the excellent reviews are TRUE! I came in because I wanted to see for myself what everyone was raving about and now I know. The food was excellen! I ordered the House special which was a good choice because it was a variety plate of everything. It also came with a large salad, which i later found out that they make and sell their own dressing for!!! I was very impressed. Two thumbs way up!
I also wanted to note that my waitress was extremely nice and made me feel very welcome.

Service is fast and friendly, but the food has gone downhill. Both of us ordered a Sahara Salad mixed plate w/chicken. Mostly the plate was OK, but the chicken was the shredded boiled kind you get in cheap tacos. And the plate was overpriced for $9.

We went to Abu Rasheed primarily on the recommendation of Citysearch, and we took our 2 year old daughter with us. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the staff were wonderful with our little girl. She had a great time there even though we just ate dinner. When we were leaving she asked if we could come back. That's a killer recommendation from a 2 year old. The fact that she was having a good time meant we ate a great meal in peace, too. They don't serve alcohol, but they have a mean coffee, which more than makes up for it. I highly recommend this place: we'll be back for sure!

I went to Abu Rasheed Lebanese Restaurant last week with a group of 12 people and they treated us like royalty! The food was great, we ordered the Abu Rasheed special, a family-style meal that filled the table with delicious appetizers and a generous portion of BBQ shish kebab beef and garlicky chicken kebab. The lamb shank dish was to die for! The service was great, they kept the freshly baked bread comming and were very attentive. They don't serve alcohol, but really who needs beer or wine to enjoy such a wonderful feast? I can't compliment them enough on what a great job they did! Oh, and the baklava was an added treat. It was so fresh and refreshing.
P.S. I tried the chicken shawarma dish at a previous visit, and I think it's delicious...one of my favorites actually. I highly recommend it!

I've eaten at three Lebanese restaurants in Portland, and Abu Rasheed was the least impressive. I feel sorry for the people who called this the best Lebanese food they've ever had - they don't know what they're missing. Lebanese can be a truely sensual food experience, but my meal here was decidedly lackluster.

First off, the food was obviously not prepared fresh. The salad was brought out about 1 minute after I ordered, and the main course arrived 2 minutes after that. This wouldn't be a problem if the food was high quality, but it was pretty disappointing.

The salad (which did not look or taste particularly fresh) was lettuce with a couple flavorless tomato slices and a few carrot and cabbage shavings - essentially what you'd find in an institutional cafeteria. The dressing was very salty and oily with some dried herbs. It had a faint minty taste but otherwise didn't contribute much flavor.

For my dinner entree I chose the chicken shawarma because I love garlic and it was described as "garlicky marinated" chicken in a garlic sauce. Unfortunately, it had no trace of garlic flavor. The sauce tasted like watered down tahini with no garlic in it. The chicken was "eh" - not awful but not particularly good either. The tabbouleh salad and hummus were okay, but again, nothing special.

The pita bread was actually brought to the table still in the plastic grocery store wrapper! At this point I decided not to order coffee or dessert, but still my meal plus a cup of hot tea came to almost $14, WAY too much for a meal of this quality. There wasn't even any sugar, milk or lemon for my tea, just Equal and CoffeeMate.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed by my meal and I'd probably stop in at the nearby Hot Lips pizza before coming here again.

If you're looking for downtown Lebanese food with some flavor and presentation, try Habibi on SW 10th and Morrison. Much better flavor, presentation and atmosphere - plus, they have Almaza (Lebanese beer).

I test all Middle Eastern restaurants by their baba ghanouj. Abu Rasheed has the best. It is smoky as it should be and it doesn't have that undercooked eggplant bite. Everything else I've had is top notch as well--falafal, meat pie, lentil soup, hummous. Other pluses: I've never had to wait for a table and the staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. Highly recommended!

I decided to check out Abu Rasheed for lunch today, and am impressed. Their menu offers a good selection of Lebanese food, and the sandwich I ordered was excellent. The beef was well seasoned and quite tasty, the vegetables were fresh, and the pita bread was perfect. The service was quick and friendly while remaining efficient. This is a great place to go if you feel like eating some Mediterranean food.

Replacing the internet and chess cafe that previously occupied the space, Abu Rasheed shows how redecorating a space can be done affordably. The menu offers the typical range of Middle Eastern foods at reasonable prices. All dinners include soup or salad and pita bread, and several vegetarian options are available for about $10. The servers were friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. However, Abu Rasheed risks falling into the vast realm of decent but unremarkable restaurants without some changes. Lighting was somewhat high for a late Saturday evening, and the menu could use a few "signature" dishes to stand out from the pack. Current dishes tend toward that "tongue-sucking" astringent flavor, probably from too much lemon. Finally, they lack a liquor license, but do offer a variety of non-alcoholic drinks.
