I have been to Brian's multiple times with the closing of Central Oregon Music years ago. I mad an amp purchase a few years ago that I wasn't pleased with (Behringer's fault, not theirs,) and have come back mainly due to lack of choice.

Its a shame this rating system wont let me use 1/32 of a star. and bryons house would only deserve that because you dont get attacked by bees when you walk in the door. This is the worst store in the history of stores. That ladies attitude

I bought a guitar from Bryan and his wife even after reading the negative comments. I decided why not try? They had the best deal in town for what I was looking for. The worst thing that would happen would be me leaving wondering how they stay open treating people so badly. Instead, I went in, asked a lot of questions and was treated respectfully, I felt Bryan was honest with me, patient, etc. His wife seemed less knowledgeable about what I was interested in but that's fine, husband and wife teams usually work that way, one knows the biz, the other helps around the shop. All in all, I'm glad I went in, I like my guitar, Bryan even showed me some helpful stuff on a return visit. Because I was aware of the bad reviews I was watching how other customers were being treated, some sat and played on instruments they were considering buying, some emo type kids were testing guitars and asking questions, it seemed like a good local music shop to me.

Bryan is very knowledgeable and allowed me to play different guitars to my hearts content, I spent several days bugging him and playing before making a decision. Donna was extremely helpful in helping me decide on some accessories to go with my new purchase.

Their pricing is "right on" and I don't have to "send" it back to the manufacture if I have a problem.

I don't get some of the other negative comments. Treat them with respect, put your ego away, and they'll bend over backwards for you.

Pros: good selection, in town, some cheaper things

Cons: bryan's wife, few basses

She seems to treat everyone like they don't know what they're doing. I've had the pleasure of going there when his wife isn't around and that made everything so much better. Honestly, I'd go there more often if Bryan's wife didn't work there. She's terrible with people and I prefer not to be treated like I'm an idiot. Bryan needs to get new employees that are not his wife. Then the store would get a ton of costumers. Aside from that note, the store itself is lovely. It has a wide range of acoustic and electric guitars, drums and basses. Guitar strings, books for various instruments, accessories, it's a great store.

My son purchased a BC Rich electric guitar and accessories from Bryan's. He is away at college and needed me to check on where to find a replacement farrule because it's a smaller than standard size and he couldn't find one in Corvallis. Bryan's wife answered the phone and exclaimed "whats that?" to my farrule question. Then cut me off when I tried to explain what I was looking for. She was impatient, rude and not at all helpful. Maybe they are a good store but her customer service skills are very poor.

Was reading reviews and had to speak up. I bought a boss looper, fender amp, picks etc here. Bought some from the lady and some from the guy. They were very nice folks. Showed me a few guitars. The lady recommended the looper I should have bought. ha ha I think it is very sorry of the people whinning through these reviews. You should own a business and put up with jerks like you, then you would understand. Maybe instead of buying equip in Portland you should move there. Jesus, I would love to hear you play, you couldn't be that damn good, you spend most of your time and energy dissing people. I give these people a 2 thumbs up. Lots of inventory, fair prices and they were very congenial people.

I have purchased many items from Bryan and Donna and they are both very professional and well mannered. I have been in there on occasion where these kids want to take down a guitar and jam out. Donna is protecting their investment when she asks them not to. Do you want to pay your hard earned money for a new guitar that has pick scratches on the front of it and marks from 501 Jeans pockets on the back of it ? What would you do IF you were in their shoes? I have bought 2 guitars from them and before doing so they have let me play the guitars AFTER I asked permission (supervised, but hey thats okay... I love an audience). Another thing, Donna has steered me in the right direction on a Duncan Screamin Demon pickup, a Digitech RP -50 (at a clearance price) and a Boss Micro BR. Bryan has adjusted the truss rod and intonation on several of my guitars for free and coached me through a guitar nut replacement and acoustic saddle adustment. He is decent guitar tech. and real nice guy. Lastly, the price of their guitars and small amps are the same or very close of those monopolizing guitar supermakets ("Friend" and "Center"). These punks with their profinity-filled negative comments, need to Shut Up and Grow Up !

Cons: None, unless your a rowdy punk grabbing guitars off their hangers without asking first.

Yes it is true, anyone that has been around Bend for a while and plays guitar knows that Bryan's wife can be a bittch. But you have to consider the situation she is in. Far too many times I have seen a group of dirt poor Mexicans with 20 kids and none speak English. They come into the store and the kids run wild, like a playground touching, and touching, and touching expensive guitars. I am a guitar player myself and have been for quite a while, and if you play you know this rule. NO one touches my guitar without my permission. Its a rule. When I go in there and get asked or "told" not to touch anything when I go in their I do get offended and it is very poor customer service skills and I do want to respond by saying "Shut up stupid fat bittch, I'm here for strings". But they do have a good selection of guitar stuff and I hate waiting for things to ship from the internet. If only Bryan would wise up, get a good marketing team in there and tell his wife to go fucck herself, he could start bringing customers back in. I have many friends that don't go to Bryan's house of music because of how they were treated in the past and I myself have also been treated rudely there, and it has always been by Bryan's fat wife. Bryan has always been helpful and nice.

My advice, if a fat lady is working, don't bother going in.

I bought my son's drum set in October from Bryan's. I was willing to pay a pretty heafty price for my son's first set. Bryan was very honest and suggested I go with a cheaper in price set to make sure my son was going to stick with it. Bryan and his staff showed my son and I how to set the drum set up and how to tune it. I urge people to give Bryan's a try.

My daughter just bought a used guitar this weekend and it was missing a screw from the tremolo. I called all over town and everyone recommended Bryan's House of Music. I was a little worried about going there after reading the reviews on here.

I am extremely pleased to report that I could not have found a nicer, more competent guy than Bryan. Not only did he take the time to find the screw I needed for our Fernandes guitar, but he spent the time to go over the condition of the guitar, adjusted the neck and even tuned it for us.

He was an extremely patient, knowledgeable, helpful guy. We just couldn't have been happier. I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but after all the bad press this guy was getting, I felt I owed to him. Thanks Bryan!

Cons: I honestly experienced nothing but professionalism and couldn't find any.

At Bryan's House of Music you can expect to be treated rudely. Each time I go in there I am told not to touch anything (well I am in there to buy guitar strings!!!!). It's sad Bend doesn't have much more. Any chance I get I'll buy online rather than Bryan's.

Bryan's House of Music really needs to work on how they treat their customers.

I wouldn't mind spending the extra money if they were nice... but they are not! (I am all about staying local... but in this case, there's no where to go)

This store is without a doubt the worst store of any kind let alone music store. Bad customer service, poor product knowledge, and they are absolutely the most unfriendly people around. How they are still in business is a HUGE mystery to me. I've spent hundreds of dollars there thinking that it would get better, and that I could build a rapport with them....no way. I encourage anyone looking for anything to do with music, do not shop there. Or do, and you will quickly see why myself as well as everyone else who's shopped there will never go back. I would just rather make my own guitar picks and drum sticks.

Pros: None

Cons: They act like everyone who walks in the door is going to steal stuff. They treat you like a criminal not a customer. There is never music playing..they are unfriendly, they are not knowledgeable.

.

Not the best service. The people are not very knowledgable about guitars. They treat you rudely and like you might touch something before asking, your basically offended as soon as you walk in the door when told not to touch before you've even started looking. I had $2,000.00 in my pocket.. own my own business and do very well and was treated like a dirtbag in this store. I was watched like I was some kind of criminal.. PR is lousy and service and salsemanship are non-existant.
Most guitars in the store were cheaper models anyway and not of the high quality a real serious musician might want... if you dont mind being under constant scrutiny while shopping then head on in but be ready to be offended!
After 30 years of guitar playing and many many high quality instruments bought and sold I take it as an insult as a musician and a customer to be treated like I was in this store. I certainly know the rules of handling a guitar by now! I recomend going somewhere else like Musicians Friend or another local friendly store!
