Indifferent service, rocks in my potatoes, dirty and delapidated building, and the food just didnt' taste good. I have never had worse hushpuppies in my life. We will NEVER go back.

Although this is a college hangout for Reedies, don't let a long wait deter you from trying this place. Its southern home-style jumbalaya is zesty and tasty, as is its friend chicken and various styles of potatoes. The atmosphere is extremely funky, too, like a throwback to the '60s.
PROS: Tasty, inexpensive food
CONS: Could be a bit cleaner with faster wait staff

Besides the tasty eats, the mixed drinks are worth a try. If mixed drinks aren't for you, order yourself a 40 of Pabst. It comes in a bucket, so you can pretend it's champagne. Which is what I always do anyway, while drinking Pabst.
The interior here is funky and fun. Sort of like eating in a trendy vintage store. The fried chicken is delish. And, they have a vast array of hot sauces!

Nothing tops off plate full of fried chicken and collard greens like a 40 oz of Pabst. Cool atmosphere, staff, and cheap, yummy soul food make this place one of my all time Portland favorites.
I have friends who swear by the Chicken Fried Steak....
