This restaurant is excellent. Salads are crisp and fresh and all the main courses we have tried have been very good. Service is consistently outstanding. Very family friendly.
Have been regulars at Ernies for 12 years. Excellent customer service, great menu & meat sauce to die for!! (so my Husband states - I don't eat meat)
This is the best Italian food I've found in the SW Portland area in my 35 years here - the pizza is killer! Ravioli, salads, actually everything I have tried there rocks! Staff, atmosphere, and food are all top notch. Not that I want everyone running down to my favorite little hole in the wall so I can't get a seat, but......
The bar section is great for after work or school with coworkers or friends. Love the atmosphere as well as the pizza! I'm a BIG fan of italian food so it was a nice setting for me anyways. This particular time i sat in the dining area because i was having dinner with my family. I love how there are two different sections but i enjoyed my food as well as the staff. Ive been to other restaurants with bad customer service and i can honestly say this is the best customer service ive ever been exposed to. This is now one of my favorite restaurants and i cannot wait to go back!!! All around 5 star loved it!!
Best pizza I've ever eaten and the people are extremely sweet! Definitely one of my favorite places to eat out in when Im in Portland(:
I just posted a review of Nonna Emelia's. I did not fully appreciate how good Ernestos was till I tasted the other half of the family fare. For two broithers that grew u p in the same house their representation of food is quite different. One is very good while the other is awful. Ernestos is worth your drive time. Don't waste your time at Nonna Emelias. Along with the food being below par their attitude, frankly, sucks.
Ernesto's has, without a doubt, the best lasagna I've had anywhere around here. The other food is also terrific, especially the seafood fettuccini. Great service. Reasonable prices. Convenient parking. We go to Ernesto's every chance we get and are always glad we did. If you like good Italian food, served in a comfortable environment, give this one a try!
YUM! this place is my favorite place in Beaverton to eat. The only con is they keep refilling the bread and i eat too much. everything has a very home made taste and feels like i am having a family dinner in Italy.
For the average dinner:
Real Italian food rely on the taste of high quality ingredients not spices. Many of my uneducated friends find this place bland where chefs and food lovers will rant and rave about the quality and taste.
As a mother of 4 of which 2 are special needs we find Ernesto's a family friendly restaurant. The children are welcomed and treated as part of a great Italian family.\r
The food caters to the most picky eater (which we have) and to my husband who loves the spaghetti and meatballs. I have yet to find anything cafetria like. The only down fall is we live 27 miles away.
I like the look restaurant has, the service is good too, but food... ( it's a cafeteria food, not a restaurant, so why bother going there if you don't like the food...
Ernesto's has been our favoritE Italian restaurant for years! The food is fabulous and the staff is very friendly. More recently I have ordered the pans of lasagna and ravioli to serve at a baby shower and also new years eve! It is delicious, easy to serve, and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend serving Ernesto's food at your next party!
First off I am very new to the area(Beaverton, OR) and did not know where to take a few friends visiting from out of state to dinner. A colleague in portland recommended Ernesto's. Little did I know this gem was right under my nose the short time I have lived in Oregon. The food was outstanding and we could not have had better service. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was just terrific!
Love It!! Great service i love it the boss is so nice. if i would rather fly to Albany then eat there i would eat there it is the best love it. go ther dont go anywhere else love it as i keep saying go there now please you will have a blast. you will leave happy. trust me that is a number one restaurt please go i love you will to. Go! I rocks it has awesome and nice service and nice people.
We have dined at Ernesto's many times and each time we are reminded why we continue to dine there. My favorite dish is the carbonara which is rich and creamy with lots of pancetta and sausage. We appreciate that the dinners come with salad and bread. How refreshing to see the owner greeting us at the door and interacting with the guests during the course of the evening. The portions are large which can be enjoyed at home the following day. And, what a pleasure to support a local business. This Italian restuarant is a 10 for me.
Ernesto's is my number one choice for dining with family and friends when I come to town from Texas. My first and last stop before leaving for home! Top notch food, excellent, personable service. We truly feel like part of the Ceccanti family from the moment we walk through the door!
Favorite dishes - lasagna, chicken piccata, spaghetti w/ meatballs, focaccia bread fresh from the oven. Never had a bad meal!
Rare to find such great value & service plus family atmosphere!
Pros: Family owned - and treat guests like family!
So good! Been my favorite Italian restaurant for years! There hasn't been anything I haven't liked. I really enjoyed the spehgetti carbonara I had last time, though I did require a nap afterwards :o)
Pros: food, atmosphere
Cons: MY GLUTTONY
This has been my favorite Italian restaurant for over five years now. Great and tasty special dishes made off the menu every week. Great lunch buffet for the price. Love the chicken parm dinner. The best caesar salad and the best clam chowder on the weekends. The foccacia bread is homemade and always delicious. The wine selections, especially the reds, are always good selections featured every month. I live in Vegas now, but whenever I am back in Portland, I always come back to this restaurant. Haven't found a better Italian restaurant since Ernesto's.
Pros: Food, wine selection, friendly staff and managers
Cons: Can't think of any cons about the restaurant right now.
been going to these folks since Monte Carlo days. Love this place
Ernesto's is our family's favorite Italian restaurant for celebrations, for take-out or for just having a wonderful meal. When I walk into Ernesto's, it is like walking into my grandfather's restaurant, Benny's Spaghetti, as a child in San Diego. From the hanging wine bottles and grape vines, the aromas, the family feeling - right down to the music - I feel like I am home.\r
The service at Ernesto's is excellent every time we are there. Today, Mother's Day 2010, we had a fantastic brunch with the best eggs Benedict I have had in years. Our waitress made sure my grandchildren were comfortable and always had a full glass of whatever they were drinking. Everyone working at Ernesto's treated us like family.\r
The test of a great Italian restaurant is their meat sauce. I rarely make my own sauce anymore - we usually run to Ernesto's for the meat sauce and fantastic meatballs - all I do is boil the pasta!\r
If you want an authentic, traditional Italian meal, Ernesto's is the place to go! I give it 10 Stars!!!
Pros: Great food, ambiance and fantastic service!
Celebrated double birthday party. 31 guests for family style dining. Excellent food and fabulous service. The cheese ravioli, meat ballsand herb roasted chicken were expecially good. The penne with meat sauce was very, very good. As were the caesar salad and minestrone soup. We had a wonderful server who was able to provide excellent pacing , especially for a group of 31. Would highly recommend Ernesto's for 2 or for a large party . Don't forget the Lemon Tiramisu and other delighful desserts. A real wonderful experience!!!
Pros: Great food! Great service!
The excellent food is only surpassed by the tremendous staff. It truly feels like we are eating in our own living room.
Pros: Chicken and artichoke with alfredo sauce pizza
This place is just a great environment with the best Italian food in town. The service is outstanding from the moment you walk in the door. Regular customers always find people they know from the neighborhood. To go food is also awesome - from spagetti to pizza and all the pasta dishes. Great homemade bread! A nice bar and wonderful meeting rooms for family occasions. Try it - you'll like it - it's our favorite familly place!
Pros: Excellent Food and Service
Cons: YOU MIGHT NEED A RESERVATION 503-292-0119
Seating is fast and comfortable. It's a large place, plenty of room for parties. The food is great especially the daily specials from their chef. We've found the staff to go out of their way to make your experience pleasant. Highly recommended for families and couples.
Pros: Tuscan Steak salad is the best ever!
when I need lasagna this is the place. Friendly staff will offer suggestions and prepare my food to perfection.
Pros: friendly people great food
Cons: they will not adopt me
This is the best italian food restaurant I've been to in the Portland Metro area. I have been coming here for many years and this restaurant has consistently provided me with the highest quality of both food and service. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is always great.
MUCH better than Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. Ernesto's has a great ambience ... I have come here on dates and I have also come here with family. Perfect place for any night out. Anne is the manager and is always kind, warm, and inviting. The staff really takes the time to get to know their customers. It's totally worth a try !
Pros: Excellent Food, Great Sauces and Pizza
Cons: There are no drawbacks
From the decor to the wonderful service all the way to the last bite our evening at Ernesto's was a great one. Our family celebrated my husband's birthday at Ernesto's last night. His family is Italian and couldn't get enough of the food. The evening was very enjoyable and we will definitely be back to Ernesto's.\r
Thank you! Keep up the great work!
Pros: Delicious food, great service, spectacular atmosphere
Cons: Too full to order more
My husband and I with my two children arrived at The Olive Garden in Beaverton at around six and were informed that the wait to be seated would be over an hour. We decided to leave and use our gift certificate (the reason for our visit) another night. Heading back down Beaverton Hillsdale Highway We decided to try another restaurant so we pulled into Ernesto's.\r
We were seated promptly (on a Saturday night?) which was a huge relief because we were all tired and the kids were getting antsy. Immediately after we sat down we had a basket of warm bread delivered and the waitress was getting wine and juice for the kids! \r
It was a busy night but they served our salads quickly. The waitress was patient with me as I described the vegetables that should not be included in either my salad or my chicken cacciatore. My husband rolled his eyes as usual. Some restaurants are not very accommodating to my requests but she assured me that their en trees are not packaged but fresh and made to order.\r
One of the hostesses or the owner came over to chat and when we told her about our Olive Garden experience she sympathized and gave our kids free ice cream!\r
It was better to pay full price for this Italian meal than to wait around for an hour with a gift certificate at the Olive Garden. I think I found my new Italian food restaurant!
Pros: very kid-friendy/tasty food/quick
We came before 6 on a weeknight and were seated right away with our family of 6. There were good choices for kids meals but the drinks were priced separately, beware! We had fried mozzarella for an appetizer and it was good, the bread was good. The entrees were served too soon after our soup & salad, and they were really greasy. I ordered chicken parmigiana and I'm not that picky, I've had a lot of different versions, but this was just about the worst ever. Plus, they brought me veal parmigiana at first--the wrong food! I had a bite and sent it back for the chicken. The chicken came and the meat was only about 1/4 inch thick and the breading and cheese was another 1/2 inch! It might have been better if served on top of spaghetti, but the spaghetti or ravioli is served in a different dish. My husband got a trio and they were all greasy. The waitress kindly took my order off because it was just inedible. They never refilled any of our drinks except my husband's root beer, and they brought him pepsi by mistake.\r
I think they need to hire more wait staff because they were too busy to give good service, and be more careful to get the food right. It was just really disappointing, especially because it was my birthday and I was looking forward to a yummy dinner.
Pros: Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, family friendly
Cons: Greasy food, not so great service
My family and I go to Ernestos almost every weekend! We love the food and always get excellent service! The staff is so nice and very helpful with suggestions if you don't know what you feel like eating and they always have a great special!
Pros: Super friendly service!
Cons: Busy on the weekend evenings.
The combination pizza here is seriously the best I have ever had. I tried the lasagna the second time we went and it was also amazing. The food has that hearty Italian flavor that is missing in some of the fancier Italian places I have been. This is simple, Italian cuisine at it's finest!
Pros: Amazing food, great staff, best pizza in town
Cons: I wish it was closer to downtown!
The people that compare this place to Olive Garden are out of their minds. You are unqualified to comment on Italian food if you have ever set foot in Olive Garden. To say you would rather go there than Ernestos basically disqualifies anything you say....\r
The food is great. Always hot and delicious. Great portions so plan on leaving with a second meal. The simple pasta dishes are the best thing on the menu although the chicken dishes are excellent as well. \r
Ernesto's is a family place and the servers are more mature and yes, less enthusiastic than the teenagers at say, Olive Garden. I appreciate the fact that they don't blow smoke up my a@@ everytime I walk in the door. They do however know my entire family by name. They know where we like to sit and what we like to eat. The manager takes care of us personally everytime we come in. She goes so far as to spoon ice cream into my babies mouth. My 2 year old knows her by name and starts asking for her as soon as we hit the parking lot.
Pros: Delicious food and friendly people
The service and the food
Pros: all the food is great
My work had a business banquet there last month, I had never been before and I loved it, so I took my wife there the other night. I think it's going to be our new favorite place.
(We had pizza the other night! It was amazing)
Pros: The pizza
The servers are pleasant, the food is to die for, and on any night of the week I couldn't ask for anything better! As soon as you walk in you are hooked for life!!
Pros: Best food! Especially the meat sauce!!
Cons: So good you can't wait!
Ernesto's has been a favorite in my family for many years. We always enjoy the fresh bread, delicious flavors, comfortable booths, friendly service, and unpretentious atmosphere. It is always worth the drive, but we wish they would open a location of the east side of town.
Pros: warm fresh bread!
Cons: needs a location on the east side of town
Living in New Jersey for 15 years, I was attending a trade show in Portland and tried Ernestos for dinner. Where do I begin to describe this place? The marinara sauce is worse than Ragu from a bottle! Thick, red paste? The pasta is so overcooked. The chicken must have been in a warming unit for hours-the meat had shrunk off of the leg bone from being in the warmer so long! \r
Not a chanceany of the sauces were homemade.\r
I'd bet they went from the Cisco foodservice can directly to the noodles.\r
Service? Please! The 18 year old girl was clueless with no attention to detail.\r
I feel sorry for you folks in Portland if this is what you consider ""authentic Italian"" food or even ""good Italian"" food. It's garbage! It's not even close to how Italian food should be prepared, served or eaten. Someone should fly the owners and chef to the East Coast for a weekend to try real, authentic Italian fare.\r
If you want the same ""quaity"" food as Ernestos, try Chef Boyardee at home and save a few bucks.\r
Great food and service. Best italian place I have ever eaten at.
Consistency from day to day and across the menu highlights Ernesto's and has for decades. The setting is pleasant, the rooms quiet, and the decor with its scenes of Italy enchanting.
They also do events and banquets well in separate rooms and did so for us, sensitively and graciously, after a funeral for a family member. We have not forgotten that.
Great food and great people.
Pros: Modestly priced excellent Italian fare with fine service
My husband (who is100% Sicilian) and I have been searching for a great Italian restaurant since we moved to Oregon almost five years ago, well, we found it. Ernesto's is like being in my husband's grandmothers kitchen. We so enjoyed our experience we plan on coming back at least once a month. Molto Bene'!!
Pros: Great food and atmosphere
Cons: A little bit cheesy..but I LOVE cheese : )
The food here is great, hot, fresh and definitely tasty. The service is spotty, but usually you won't wait long. The owner is 4th generation and is a delight to speak with, as she cruises the dining room. The desserts are wonderful and they are good on taking suggestions. Reasonable prices and good food keep us coming back.
Pros: Good food and plenty of it
Cons: Not for a romantic get away
What a great idea!! Easter Brunch!! I hear they will also do a Mother's Day Brunch!! (And, by far, the best price in town!!) Not to be missed!! The choices were unbelievable, our compliments to the Chefs!!!!\r
Not only do they have the best salad bar at lunch, the best pizza, the best salads, and their 3rd generation recipes are like a taste of Old Italy!\r
What a great place to have meetings and banquets, not many restaurants in the area can accomodate the large parties like they do. And what beautiful banquet rooms!\r
If you haven't been to Ernesto's, or it's been a while since you've eaten there, you owe it to yourself and your guests to walk into one of the most beautifully decorated restaurants Portland has to offer.\r
Did I mention how great their food is??
Pros: salad bar at lunch, wonderful staff
Cons: none at all
Ernesto's has been part of my family tradition for a long time! We have been going there every Friday for I don't know how long. The servers are always very happy to help you and give you ideas if your not sure what you feel ike eating! The food is always delicious and I never leave dissapointed! The managers are excellent and always go table to table to check on everyone. It is a great place for kids (I have a 2 year old and 11 year old) they don't have to sit and be quiet to get a great meal! I would recomend giving Ernesto's a try if you haven't yet. If you don't enjoy it you can go to Olive Garden next time and get undercooked chicken and crappy service.
Pros: It a grat place to feel at home!
Cons: You can't eat pasta every day.
My husband and have eaten at Ernesto's many times. We have never been disappointed with the food and service. Often, I dine there at lunch time with friends. The buffet offers a good variety and the salad bar is fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice lunch or dinner with great service and friendly staff.
Pros: Great food. The restaurant is clean. Even the bathroom is clean and neat.
Cons: When it is really busy, sometime the parking can be a problem.
My husband and I have been dining at Ernesto's for several years, the food is great along with the service. Outstanding weekend specials. The food and service is the reason why we return several times a month. You cannot go wrong with this place.
Pros: Plenty of parking, no waiting
I love the way that I am treated at Ernesto's Italian Restaurant with each returning visit. They make me feel welcomed and like family. The food is great and the service is five star. Everyone wants you to leave happy. I have been a fan for years and they just keep getting better and better. I know that I can recommend them to all of my friends without hesitation. They are reflective of the golden standard!
Pros: Wonderful staff that will remember you; time after time. They make sure that you leave happy! Also best Happy Hour in town!
Cons: I haven't found it.
We like Itallian food and have tried restaurants from small family owned to large chain operations. This has it all!! Great food, great selection, and a wonderful 3rd generation family to back it up!!\r
The staff interaction was friendly and helpful and even the 5 year old grandson had a great personal welcome. This restaurant is a little hard to find and is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall. It is worth another drive around the block to find it!! We have been there for dinner several times, and have been told the lunch buffet is spectacular. We are planning on checking that out soon.
Pros: great food, good portions, great staff
Cons: strip mall location
We decided to give this restaurant a try this evening, and left disappointed.\r
The service was uneven -- some servers were prompt, friendly and helpful. Others were distracted and a bit surly. One even tried to climb into the booth with me while taking our order, and then got snarky when asked whether or not a particular dish was vegetarian.\r
The garlic bread was passable. The dinner salads were rather good, and ended up being the high point if the evening. The entree pasta dishes were pretty much tasteless. I've gotten better tasting pasta out of a can. Both the spaghetti with marinara sauce and gnocchi were decidedly bland. \r
We had been hoping for something better than Olive Garden, which is not a tough standard to meet or surpass, and found ourselves wishing we'd gone there instead.\r
We did bring the leftovers home, so that we can season them properly ourselves.
