After interviewing with the center recently, I was not surprised to read BvtonMom's review indicating there was a racial issue. Although we didn't experience racial discrimination, we did experience discrimination based on disability.

rted at Sorrento two years ago...he was a wobbler then.

Being a first time mom, we were hesitant when trying to find the right "daycare". We knew what we didn't want. When we found Sorrento, Dawn was amazing at answering all of our million questions and worked very hard to make sure we were comfortable leaving them with our son. Unfortunately for us, we had to take him out for a short time due to a change in employment.

However, once we were ready to place him back in "daycare" we didn't even think twice about where we wanted him to go. This time our son entered into the Toddler class with Claudia. She was one of the most amazing teachers they had. So much so, that even after she left...we keep in contact with her and she still watches our son on occasion. Whenever he does something he's proud of, he still tells us he can't wait to tell "Ms. Claudia".

Dawn and the teachers at Sorrento have always communicated with us 100% and there has always been open dialog. Dawn listens to concerns and address them immediately as well as makes suggestions on how to handle different challenges...(potty training). I have never been concerned that my son is not loved everyday by both his teachers and Dawn.

I have friends that have their children in "other daycare centers" and I can tell you they are amazed at the progress my son has made at Sorrento. The attention, care and detail that goes into the curriculum and daily routines is fantastic. I never worry that my son is not learning or growing at Sorrento.

The individuals that left negative comments are entitled to their opinions. However, others must make their own decisions. I encourage any parent looking for childcare to go to Sorrento. Talk to the staff.. talk to Dawn... talk to the parents. I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

My son has been attending Sorrento for a couple of years. Everyday I am amazed at the progress he is making and the things he is learning. I appreciate the attention he receives from his teachers, as well as the personal interaction I have with them each day. A special kudos to Lisa and Angie - we love you guys!

However, my interactions with the center director, Dawn, have not been pleasant. I understand the stresses of running a daycare, yet I do not believe calling me at work to berate me over the fact that another parent overheard my conversation regarding my part-time daycare arrangement was appropriate. Her attitude appears to be hit or miss - either she is very welcoming and cheerful or she is a complete terror. I'm glad to hear that she is not treating other parents this way.

My daughter has been enrolled at Sorrento for a few months and we haven??t had one issue. She loves going to school every day and I feel 100% comfortable with leaving her in the hands of the teachers at Sorrento. The teachers are friendly and caring. My daughter has learned more at Sorrento in the past few months than she did at her previous daycare in a year! The curriculum is amazing. The teachers are hands on and involved. They just don??t simply sit around and ??watch? the kids. They truly care for these kids and it shows. I feel lucky to have found Sorrento. Thank you Sorrento teachers!

Unfortunately, I believe that the reviewer of the 21st Century comment is disgruntled for some reason. My daughter attends Sorrento as well as other children who are white, African American, Chinese, Indian, etc. and in the three years we have been there I have NEVER once seen or heard a racial or slanderous remark or action made by ANY staff member. I'm shocked that a parent would take a personal "jab" at any of the staff members. These are serious allegations and I hope that potential families would speak to current families of any race at Sorrento before making a decision not to enroll their children. I know several of the families and I personally have NEVER heard such negative remarks from them about Dawn. My daughter has had a wonderful experience and as a parent, I am very comfortable knowing that she is safe and well taken care while she is there.

As a mother, I am fully aware of what takes place at this school. My children have received nothing but the best care. I wouldn't trust my kids anywhere else. The staff is amazing, accommodating and friendly. The director, Dawn, is one of the most sincere and professional women I've ever encountered in my time being there. She truly loves her job and children; it's quite apparent in her mannerisms and the fact that NO kid leaves with out their hug good-bye form Ms Dawn. I know many other parents feel the same way. Otherwise, why would we bring our kids to such an elite, upstanding school. Thank you, Dawn & the staff at Sorrento, all of you, for making children feel at home.

My son has been enrolled for eight months at Sorrento daycare, he is now 18 months. The director and the teachers are very good at what they do. From the first day I mate them, they were warm and affectionate to the children in any ways, they take care of the kids very well. I have never seen such a racial different as one of the commentatior said because me and my family are african american decent, so I have never seen anything different. I am alaways pleased with what they did, they are alaways ethical, professional and clean. I reccomend to anybody to send their child to Sorrento daycare.

Fortunately we have pulled our student from Sorrento before the firm attempts to do further damage to our child's self-esteem. It is disheartening as a parent to learn that in this day and age we must be ultra cognizant that our childcare providers do not force their racial views on our children. I just learned that Dawn (the "director") of Sorrento in Beaverton has made racial comments about my child to other parents. Not only has she expressed her strong racial views of "black" children, but she has also made wild generalizations about how parents shouldn't adopt because it gives children "identity confusion". I am not only shocked that Sorrento owners would employ someone like this, but elevate them to a "director" level. I am deeply concerned, deeply disappointed and deeply saddened that my child has experienced such horrible treatment. Again, parents beware......

The teachers always have a welcoming smile for my and my child. The place is large, clean and full of activity. My child always has fun with the different stations of art, science, music, math, building, dress up and so much more.

Our daughter loves Sorrento Day Care. She is excited to arrive each morning, learns something everyday, and always appears to be in the middle of fun when we pick her up in the afternoon. The director rewards innovation and excellence in her employees, and encourages development of less-than-stellar performers before letting them go if they do not improve. Every staff person I've encountered seems to love their job. There are less expensive and more expensive daycares out there, but I believe Sorrento is the best fit for us in the Beaverton area.

We've had our child at Sorrento for 6 months now and have found the Director to be extremely capable, very compassionate, and completely informed about all aspects of the care her facility provides. Our child loves the staff, is excited about going to daycare, and is thriving in a clean, nurturant environment. This locally-owned business is 20 times better than the nationally branded chain daycares in the area. We love Sorrento!

The person who wrote the negative review of this school is clearly not educated themselves, as they have many misspelled words and uninformed opinions. The director of the school is now Dawn Martin, the prior kindergarten teacher and past director. She is very knowledgeable and would never do anything illegal at the school. I would call that negative review slander and absolutely false. I have received calls at home that my child was ill or had a fever and I should come get her as soon as I could. They never leave sick children at school. Absurd! I gave my child a choice where she wanted to go this summer, and she herself chose to go to Sorrento. To say that they put children at risk is not true. I would NEVER put my child at a school where anything mentioned in that review was true. The prior director was a sweet person, but over her head a bit, and she stepped down. That was the only problem, so to speak, at the school, and it has been remedied by putting Dawn back in the role of director. If you're going to leave a review, try to at least be honest and helpful with constructive criticism, not take out whatever person issues you might have by attacking the school. Anyone interested in the school should go and meet Dawn and present any concerns you might have to her, and I am convinced she will put them to rest. Sorrento is a great school/daycare.

I have heard that Dawn has taken over as director and is doing a great job. If I had known that the other director would be leaving so soon I never would have left there. Although you seem to be very involved with your child here, most parents are not so involved. There were many things going on under the tables that only the teachers knew about. I was just giving a warning. Take it or leave it. I am very glad to hear of how Dawn has turned the place around through friends who still work there. But there are still long strides to be made up for and I wish Sorrento all the luck.

The kindergarten teacher at this school is wonderful! My child has learned so much and has really blossomed there. I only hope to have such a positive experience when we move on to 1st grade. I would
highly recommend the kindergarten program at Sorrento and the teacher. She is truly a gift to the school and the students.
