TPI is a great school. Everyone is warm and inviting. The teachers are all great. I have had two sons pass through the school and they both loved it. Anyone is invited to join the board or attend the meetings. We will be back for another year and can't wait.

Teacher Susie Long-Clark is a warm, loving and enthusiastic teacher that has made our son's first school experience a positive one! He asks every day if it is time for school and he is disappointed when it's not... Our son has grown emotionally and socially over his last 2 years TPI and we look forward to him joining Teacher Susie's Pre-K class next year. Because this school is a co-op, it is affordable and allows me to be more involved and hands on. I have loved being a parent-teacher here -- memories I will always cherish. The school will be moving next year and we look forward to the new building and the wonderful new opportunities it will provide for our son and future students of TPI!!!

My son is finishing up his third year at Tigard Playschool and we will miss the day when he moves on to "big kid" school. He started in the 2's class and was able to experience separating from me in the most loving, supportive and nurturing way. I was able to stay as long as he (and I, truthfully) needed to and now he is able to give me a smooch and a hug at the door and march himself right inside.

I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of his early learning and exploration and always felt more than welcome in his classroom, regardless of who his teacher was for the year. I feel confident in the skills he is gaining while at TPI and know that when he is ready to move on he will do so with a strong sense of who he is and how much he is capable of accomplishing.

A wonderful school.

Pros: Fun, developmentally appropriate, supportive and dynamic.

Cons: time commitment (but it's a co-op), no morning pre-k

My daughter attended TPI for 3 years and my son for 1. While I loved so many things about the experience (i.e., parent teaching, developing close relationships with other parents), I struggled with parents feeling unappreciated for their contributions and devalued as members. I really wanted to return next year to continue with the community my family feels such a part of, but I'm sad to say my son will attend his next two years elsewhere.

Tigard Playschool has been a wonderful growing experience for my child; Teacher Susie's warm, loving approach to teaching preschoolers has been a wonderful influence. The school will soon be moving to a nearby location that Susie, her husband, and thier sons, are pouring thier energy into to make it an ideal place for children to learn and grow.
Keep up the great work, Tigard Playschool!

Pros: Loving teachers in a positive environment

Cons: not a con, but you do need to commit time to be involved

.

I have put two children through TPI and have loved every minute of it. I have watched them both mature and grow mentally and emotionally through the help of their teacher and the environment the school provides. We have also made life long friendships through the school and although this is our last year at TPI we plan on keeping in touch and coming back for after school activities. I would recomend this school to any of my friends!

Communication within the parents and board needs to be improved as well as the trust between the teacher and parents. Too much drama.

I love this school. My son started here when he was two, and is now in his third year at TPI. He's currently in the Pre-K class, and LOVES going to school. All his teachers have been wonderful, and kind. There really is a community spirit, and we are so excited for the school to move into it's own space next year! My daughter is already signed up for the 2/3's blend class next year, and I can easily see another 3 years at TPI.

Tigard Playschool has been a great experience for both my children. My Daughter was in the 3's class and then Pre-K. She has now moved on, but always asks to go back and visit the school. My son is currently in the 3's class and can't get enough. He is always so happy to go, but hates to leave. Thank You Tigard Playschool for giving my children a great 1st school experience.

This is our second year at TPI. We are already enrolled for next year. Our daughter will be in the 4's class, which will provide Kindergarten readiness through play-based learning- just what we need! My son is registered for the magical 2's class. I know that preschool is certainly not mandatory for a 2 year old, but after my daughter's experience last year, I wouldn't want him to miss it. This little class is amazing. And belonging to a co-op is a perfect fit for us. I love being a part of a committee and I love when I have parent-teaching days! TPI is an amazing little school with longevity (51 years!) and I can't wait to see what next year brings! Art, science, cooking, music and literacy, a rotating themed "imagination station", field trips, outdoor play (almost) every day. Everything we need!

Susie is a lying, manipulative person. They take your money and then lie about what is going on with the school. Be very careful! Put your kid somewhere else for the time and money you put into TPI is NOT WORTH IT!

Tigard Playschool can boast that they have been in the same location for 51 years. The staff and volunteers are dedicated to the families that attend the school. Because of the cooperative nature of the school, families become very involved with each other and have an opportunity to learn a lot about their child, themselves and parenting strategies. This is our third year at TPI and we look forward to our youngest child being able to participate next year.

Pros: Emerging curriculum, hands-on learning, low ratio

.

Tigard Playschool, Inc. has an excellent balance of developmentally appropriate activities for children. When we toured several area schools, my son loved it far and above the others. The teachers expressed warmth and caring for others and a love of what they do. It was also competitive tuition-wise and offered far more comparatively than others. There is nothing we do not love about this school and we recommend it wholly.

PROS: Tons of fun, tons to do and great learning experience
CONS: None

Outstanding school with wide range of activities. Addresses social/emotional as well as academic needs of children. Nearing it's 50th year anniversary, the best part is the quality and warmth of the teachers. Children enter the classrooms and don't want to leave. The possibilities for learning are endless. It's also competitive tuition-wise and has so much more to offer than others we explored. We recommend it whole-heartedly!

You must checkout this preschool. The facility & free choice time is great for kids. The indoor playpark down the hall is convenient for siblings. All the teachers are well trained and know how to redirect children and encourage them to try new things. Very low 4:1 ratio of kids to adults. http://www.tigardplayschool.com

PROS: art stations, playground, teachers, low tuition

can't say enough good things about the school, a 'must see' if you're looking for a preschool. many other preschools have little tykes toys and fisher-price. not here, kids are exposed to all sorts of new toys, art projects, etc.

One of my daughters good friends attends this preschool and both she and her parents love the interaction this type of preschool provides between parents, students and teacher. It is a very cooperative feeling, and the parents are very motivated to help keep costs down and be very involved in the goings-on at this school.

There is a certified teacher in charge, but parents help out in most other aspects. My daughter's friend has thrived in this environment and her little brother will be attending also as soon as he is old enough.

PROS: Cooperative learning between parents, teacher and children
CONS: Significant time involvement required, so not for every family

Tigard Playschool is a co-op preschool that involves parents a great deal in order to keep costs down. It is a wonderful alternative for the parent that needs an inexpensive schooling option and also desires to be a part of their childs education. There is a lead teacher and instead of employing assistants, the parents step in and help staff the classrooms.

My son Cameron is returning for his 3rd year at Tigard Playschool and we couldn't be more pleased. Everyday I am asked if it's a school day or not. The teachers are wonderful. They are incredibly creative! And the kids always come first, which is the way it should be. But the parents get to have fun too! I highly recommend anyone considering the school. You won't regret it.

My oldest daughter just completed her second year at Tigard Playschool. She is totally prepared for kindergarten and has an amazing amount of self-confidence and respect for others. The focus on learning through play and social and emotional growth is exactly what preschool age children need. The teachers are absolutely fantastic! They are caring, dedicated and superbly qualified. The cooperative school environment is great for kids as well as parents. I've made as many friends through the school as my daughter did. My youngest daughter will start the program this fall and we can't wait!
