Went to dinner here with a group of friends for my birthday. When we walked in there was no one at the host desk, we stood there for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come up to us. Multiple waiters saw us and yet no one bothered to even say it will be just a minute, or let me get the host for you. It took forever for the waiter to even bring us water. Then even longer to take our order. It wasn't busy so I don't know what was going on. When we ordered our drinks my husband didn't get what he had ordered, either time. The waiter poured soup all over one person in our party. We asked for another round of drinks, she didn't even look at what we had ordered the first time and I got something totally off. I had the lamb for dinner and it was terrible. Some of it was burnt to a crispy black, other parts were too full of grissel to eat. My carrots that came with it were not cooked all the way, in fact they were almost raw. I think out of 6 of us, one person liked their food and that was because she ordered a salad. After all this the waiter took even longer to bring us our bill. I say don't waste your time here.

Cons: Service, Food

We ate there last night. The stared items are happy hour items but you can not have a salad instead of fries even though the menu says they are offered. We spoke to the manager and she was defensive and said they serve thousands and no one complained before. Food was poor quality as well. Not the same place...

Pros: Waiter was helpful

Cons: The menu is misleading

.

There was no riesling or merlot by the glass. A glass of cabernet was $11. We had 2 bottles of wine, averaging $50 each. I had the roasted beet salad and sole, neither of which was special. Even at much lower prices, it was not what I would return to. There is much greater value to be had in Portland. Sorry.

Very snobby and haughty bar people. We left after one drink and will NEVER go back.

Made reservations for mother's day buffet which was not being served when we got there. We ordered from their brunch menu and most of the food was just ok. Nothing special to write home about. The waitress was good and the dishes were comparable to Shari's menu. Like the water view. Won't be going back though.

Pros: good for kids, view of water

Cons: lacks any kind of imagination in the menu, hotel restaurant

The food was decent, but the service is horrible. We told the waiter (who is rude and inattentive) that we were really hungry and ordered edamame and specifically told him to bring the food out as it was ready. 30 minutes later, everything came out at once. To top it off, the edamame was cold. As I type this, he has not returned once to check on us in the 20 minutes since dropping off the food. Don't come here unless you have lots of time on your hands and don't need things like water refills.

My Husband and I were lured to Three Degrees for the happy hour menu. I thought I had read that they had $3 martinis but actually it's $3 drafts and house wine. The portions for happy hour were large but there was no ambiance to the place. I could see it being good for the cheap prices but this isn't what I would consider a remarkable or special place.

p.s. after we left this lackluster place we finished out the happy hour at Andina and LOVED everything about it!

Lunch is a great way to sample a restaurant's fare without the financial commitment. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and went to heaven. The roast beef was thin sliced, with a hint of crispiness around the edges. It was served with a brilliant au jus, delicious french fried potatoes, and a kosher pickle. The service was prompt and courteous and the view from the main dining room was nice too. This is a great spot, just be prepared to spend some time looking for parking.

Great view, friendly staff and great service. By far this place has some of the best drinks in town from their petty grove pear to their starry night even the market street mud pie was wonderful. But i must say if you like cool martinis you must go here there is always something new to try. I even liked the ever changing micro tap handle because you never know whats new. The bar manager told me himself that he never knows from week to week what the rotator will be. Because he is always trying new beers out from all over the world and puts whats new or old but just plain good on tap. So that in it's self gives a reason to come back for more.

Pros: great happy hour best in town!!!

Cons: None i love this place.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Portland for location. The hotel is where we book our out
of town business travelers. The bar is wonderful. The patio / porch seating on a cool summer
evening is the best.

But the new menu in the 3 Degree tries way too hard to impress. I recently dined there
and ordered the Filet because it is the only thing I could easily recognize on the menu.
Menu has been the same last 2 times I have been there, and there is little to choose from.
Quit trying so hard on the presentation/description and get back to serving good food.

They have a new menu that is trying to hard. The selections are limited and the descriptions are so pretentious. I should not need a dictionary to identify what I am going to eat. I really liked this place and it is sad to see the changes that have happened. The bar service was fabulous as always but the dinner service was less than desirable. We use to recommend this restaurant to out of town guests that are staying at the Riverplace Hotel but now we will be recommending another restaurant.

I've been there twice and the first time i had a great expierance. I went with my husband during happy hour and ordered the onion rings and the chicken sandwich. They were big portions and they were only 3 dollars each! They were very tasty too. The restaurant is in a beautiful location with a fabulous view of the river. There is a patio outside which is great on sunny days. The decor inside is chic and attractive as well as most people that dine there. I did not have any problems with the service either, that is, the 1st time i went. The second time i went was in July in 2006. I took a friend from Cali that was visiting and i was so embarrased! We went to the bar and had the absoulute worst service ever! We ordered our drinks at the bar which took forever to be served and then we were never approached after that. We waited and waited. None of the bar tenders acknowledged us what so ever or even tried making eye contact with us.
We were so disgusted and after waiting for so long without anyone approaching us we finally gave up waiting, got up and left. Needless to say i was so apauled and insulted, especially after all the good things i had said about this place to my friend prior to us getting there.
i am hoping that that was just a fluke although, from reading some of the other reviews, I wonder. Never the less i will give this place one more shot. If i have even the slightest problem i will never go back and i will advise anyone i know not to dine there.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland! It is so romantic and has a wonderful atmosphere. All of the food is absolutely incredible, from the bread and butter to the extensive wine list to the lobster bisque to the perfect steak. From almost all of the seats you have a great view of the beautiful Portland river and it is quiet enough to have a nice chat with a loved one.

I work in the area and go to Three Degrees for happy hour often, they have a wonderful menu to choose from as well as a very friendly staff. Sometimes the service can be slow but the servers are very nice and professional. The view isnt half bad either, that combined with the free parking with valet, its a great place to visit!

I took a client to lunch here on a nice sunny day in early summer. We were looking for a good place for lunch that was outside by the river. Three Degrees has a beautiful patio so we decided to dine there. I ordered fish and chips and when it arrived and I took the first bite of what looked like a crispy fish I was suprised by a cold frozen center, being in a business meeting I couldn't quite put my napkin up to my mouth but was left to worry about getting sick the rest of the afternoon.

I brought the fish that now that I had cut into it I noticed had a grey center (uncooked fish) to the attention of the waiter who promptly touted that he would take care of it. 30 minutes later I was brought a new fish and chips by the manager who joked., "this one should be cooked." My response, "well I sure hope so."

We came to Portland to have our wedding and stayed at the RiverPlace Hotel. The 3 Degrees restaurant, which is part of the hotel, has great views of the river and is small, yet ample room to not feel like someone is listening in on your conversation. Service was always available, even when on our first night, we walked down to the bar which was just about to close, but still offered us a choice of beverage. We never felt uncomfortable. We had our reception here and were seated by the window. We were given superb service and never made to feel like we had to rush and get out for other patrons. We liked the waitors so much that we asked them to sit with us (sadly they could not). Breakfast is a treat as well. We had the crab hash which was just the right amount and not to rich. Recommend: Hummus, nachos, ceasar salad with shrimp, sandwiches..... However, no matter what meal you eat, there are very good choices--all good. This is a definite stop upon our many returns to Portland.

We went here on a beautiful weekday, and the view was fantastic. We sat on the patio outside of the bar and practically had the place to ourselves. Our waitress was accommodating and friendly, and the food was fine but a bit pricey. I had a Caesar salad that was big and tasty, but I am a "crouton girl" and there weren't any (just one small, thin piece of toasted bread accompanying it), so I was a bit disappointed. My husband had a sandwich that was pretty average but expensive for what it was. FYI, the menu posted on their web site doesn't match the menu in the restaurant exactly, so if you have your heart set on something listed there (as my husband did on the Monte Cristo sand), you may be disappointed. (Also, the Blues Festival crew started setting up for the weekend midway during our lunch, which was LOUD, but that wasn't 3 Degrees' fault. It took away a bit from the ambiance, though.)

Been staying at the hotel for years. Only wish the food was better. The bar menu is lacking of variety and the quality has gone down hill. Last stay at the hotel, we decided we would try one more time to grab a afternoon drink and snack in the bar. The service was friendly and quick. We ordered the cheese plate. What was served was six grapes (over ripe) a block of cheese that looked like it was sitting out all afternoon open to the air, and some small pieces of bread on a oversized saucer. I called the manager over, he agreed that it wasn't up to their usual quality. By then our appetite was gone, and we decided to dine uptown after our show that evening.

This restaurant is great. The food is amazing and the service is even better! I first arrived alone because I was waiting for someone. I was checked on about every 5 minutes. It was great. And the food was delicious. The dungenous crab cakes were to die for! Highly recommended!

A strange place--some night's it's packed, other nights it's like a ghost town. My wife and I came first for a company event, and were so impressed by the delightful food and friendly service that we returned on our own. It wasn't nearly so crowded the second time around, but we loved the food and our server was a joy. We've been back several times since, sometimes before a show and sometimes with guests, and have always had a great time. The service can be a little slow when it's crowded, but the food's always top-notch and the wine list is superb.

Sunday brunch. Was not busy, about 1/3 full in dining area
Pros: Seated immediately with a great view. Beverages served immediately
Cons: That was about the last of the service received. Read from previous reviews about poor service and unfortunately we got poor service.
Food was served cold. Eggs bendict and Crab Hash ordered. Food was average, might have been better if it was warmer. My coffee was never refilled, even after asking for some more. Couple came in about 20 minutes after us, and they received there food before we did. Complained to manager, but manager not available.

Riverplace is a nice hotel right near the river. I don't exactly like the Three Degree restaurant, but I guess it's just a matter of opinion because our friends LOVED it. The rooms were not gigantic, but they were pretty comfy and luxurious. The staff were really nice and helpful. They made us feel pampered. This is definitely one of the best hotels in Portland.

We tried Three Degrees for the first time last night and were very impressed. The waterfront location is great, but the food here will blow you away (and I don't say that lightly). The dining room is comfortable and unassuming. We started with the featured soup, a mushroom, onion & bacon bisque. the subtle flavors blended very well. For our entrees we tried the Mustard Crusted Oregon Rack of Lamb with potato and squash galette and lamb reduction (very good) and possibly the best duck entree I have ever tasted: Applewood Smoked Duck Breast on roasted shiitake and semolina pearls. The duck was moist, flavorful and delicious and the shiitake & semolina pearls were amazing! The wine list features many local wines and is reasonably priced. The service we received from Micheal was outstanding. Free valet parking. We'll be back!

We ate at Three Degrees before a show, and returned for drinks and dessert after. My salmon was perfectly baked and accompanied by just-right steamed asparagus. Friends enjoyed their lamb and steak, although were not blown away by the tastes. Cocktails were good, not particularly imaginative or generous. Dinner service was great; our waiter was helpful, attentive, and fun. Service in the bar, however, was excruciatingly slow, and it was not busy. The drink list was interesting, but again not very exciting. The chocolate colada was more pineapple-y sweet than chocolatey & coconutty delicious, but it was quite large. Desserts - creme brulee and a chocolate torte - were generous and good. Their valet service was probably the most impressive part of the experience - we parked free during the show!

Pros: well-prepared food, nice dinner service, valet parking

Cons: uninspiring cocktails, slow bar service

the Riverplace Hotel should probably be renamed the river palace hotel. It's right on the river, next to two of the best restaurants in town, little shops, and boat rentals/marina. the rooms are lush, especially if you get one with a view. like all really good things, it's pricey; over 200 a night, i think. you might be able to do better on one of those discount websites, but if you just want a nice place to crash with room service, you might be better off at the hilton.

The food was excellent. Lots of choices, prices seem to be in line with other good hotel restaurants around town. Three Degrees was recently renovated, i think in an effort to attract a more casual, relaxed crowd. unfortunatly, there still seems to be a crabby oldster following. This isnt the fault of the restaurant, but it is one of the very few places in portland where you might be glared at for wearing jeans. Outdoor dining during the summer is extra-nice, a great view of the river and boardwalk below. The staff was knowledgable and friendly.

My wife and I visited this restaurant last summer. We were horribly dissapointed at that time. We decided that, over the winter, the management may have had the opportunity to straighten things out and get the place into order (I own and manage several local restaurants). Nope. There's a new mural to gawk at, though. That was a good idea because our food took almost 45 minutes to arrive and wasn't so great once it did finally get to us (the server, who was nice enough, didn't even remember which one of us got what and also never brought our second round of drinks). Obviously, the other reviews on this site were written by owners and managers because none of them, at least after our experience, could be true. Hopefully they'll get it together...though the biggest problem seems to be lack of staff.

I recently had dinner here and it was a tremendous dissapointment. The food was average and WAY over priced, the service was marginally helpful and lacking any personallity, the atmosphere can be summed up in two words "cheesy hotel", and even the valet parking was a bust. The parking attendant stared blankly at me as he said 'We're full' - I had to ask where I could park AND I had to pay $6. The restaurant was virtually empty adding to the less than inviting atmosphere. Anyone who's recommending this place is obviously not familiar with the many, many great restaurants in Portland. This is definitely NOT one of them.

My fiancee and I went to Three Degrees for our anniversary a while ago and had the most wonderful time. The hotel and restaurant are both beautiful which made for a romantic evening. Our server was highly trained and intelligent. Our food was amazing. The ambiance was excellent and the quality was superb! They change their menu every two weeks which is a great excuse for us to go back often!! We go out to eat on a regular basis, and Three Degrees is the BEST restaurant we have ever been to. We will be going back (maybe even tonight)! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

My husband and I went here for an early (6pm) Friday night dinner. The service was great, the ambience was very romantic and relaxing, and our food was excellent. I ordered the duck entree and was truly impressed - it was cooked perfectly, with an amazing sauce. My husband's salmon was very good as well. Overall it was an unpretentious, quiet comfortable and romantic restaurant.

The first time I went to Three Degrees was about a month and a half ago. The food was good but service was slow. I read the review in Willamette Week and decided to give it another try. I'm glad I did. Otherwise I'd have missed what I consider to be one of the best restaurants in Portland. What a view! The bar was packed for Happy Hour. By the way, $3 martinis! We enjoyed a drink outside on the most comfortable rocking chairs. Dinner was great. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly. My wife had oysters and short ribs. So good! The service has improved vastly. Our server answered all of our questions and even recommended the perfect bottle of wine to go with our food. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back. Free valet parking never hurt anybody!

I had my birthday dinner here and was very impressed. The staff was extremely solicitous and informative when making menu choices. I found the food to be creative and delicious. Bonus--valet parking makes dining very convenient. Highly recommended.

I had dinner the other night with a friend of mine. This location is fantastic! View was spectacular. The service staff was very tentative. Loved the Filet Mignon! Very tasty. Dessert was magnificent. We were then able to walk along the water front to continue with such a great evening! Highly recommned your next dinner here.

I was amazed at the new restaurant at the Riverplace hotel.... it was very busy when we were there and the service and food were great... the view as well! They have put rocking chairs out on the deck areas so you can sit out there have something to eat or drink and watch all of the activity walking by...

My date had the hamburger (we had heard that it was the best in Portland) and I had the prime rib...it was so tender that you could cut it with your fork!

I was worried that we would have a hard time parking, but they have complementry valet parking...it was really fast.

They also have just remodeled the hotel (Riverplace Hotel) and you have to see that as well...

Anyway, I think this restaurant is going to take off...
